I've stood under large wasps nests watching them quite a few times. Never had a problem. [editline]6th June 2013[/editline] seriously guys, wasps are important, stop spreading misinformation that will only lead to their deaths please. [editline]6th June 2013[/editline] Also, all these people going "OH MY GOD ITS JUST A FUCKING TICK! SERIOUSLY TICKS ARE EVIL!," would it be any different if this video was of a feral cat? After all, feral cats are pests, destroy local ecosystems, and are vectors of deadly diseases such as rabies. They also hurt people with their deadly claws and fangs!
Yea but Ticks don't feel anything.
I played video games as well
You didn't while running that arena.
comparing ticks to cats now I've seen everything cats have a more developed sense of pain and fear. Tics don't even have a "brain" in a sense. They are programmed to just go upwards on an animal and suck it's blood, allowing it to multiply.
Oh so it's a sliding scale now? We can decide what we can and can not have fun killing based on arbitrary observations of intangible feelings? Can I kill chickens in the most barbaric ways? How about birds? After all they're not as AWWWWWWWW awesome as cats!

If that doesn't qualify as a pest, I don't know what does. If a swarm of insects started eating through crops, would you let them work away despite the implications it would have because they're living things too? Also consider that we can't identify with ticks because they're on a different level of intelligence from us.
Ticks? Nah i hate those little fuckers. BURN 'EM
Tick are good because they do stuff like kill baby deer and keep the population down. This incidentally makes them assholes and we should do everything we can to destroy them in creative and amusing ways.

Also some species of birds have higher intelligence than cats, so.... killing the tick that way is probably better because it at least provides a scientific analysis of how the chemical reacts with blood, instead of just stepping on it/crushing it/flushing it, both dealing, in the end, the same "pain" to the tick.
Damnit, now I'm hungry.
Haha what, people are actually defending ticks? Honestly never thought I would see this type of shit.

I think in my entire life I've only been stung once by a wasp and that wasn't really a wasp it was a hornet. As long as you aren't like right in their face at the nest or grabbing at them or something they won't sting you. They usually just fly up to you and around you a bit just to check out whats going on. Might land on you but then they will leave, they are just curious.
A wasp almost stung me before I was able to escape. Evil things.
A wasp almost stung me before I was able to escape. Evil things.
Exciting.
I want to move to Antarctica now.
A wasp almost stung me before I was able to escape. Evil things.
I once managed to slice the head of a flying fly off. It was flying around me while I was cooking and I got annoyed and took a swing at it and it dropped like a rock. I inspected it and felt like a true ninja.
lol speaking of "torturing those poor little insects" at the skatepark we had a pair of vise-grips and there was a cricket. we grabbed the cricket with the grips and crushed it, then put its crushed remains on the ground. And then poured water on it. I guess my friends and I are sadistic
don't see how that doesn't make it sadistic. if you want to get rid of ticks for practical reasons you don't inject them with chemicals and laugh
Yes. Yes you do.
I've stood under large wasps nests watching them quite a few times. Never had a problem. They are not an endangered species.
Also, all these people going "OH MY GOD ITS JUST A FUCKING TICK!
Haha what, people are actually defending ticks? Honestly never thought I would see this type of shit.
there are apologists for everything.
I once held a plastic cup out of the window while in a vehicle. I heard a very loud boom. Turns out a fly had flew in it. He got crushed. Very very crushed. The cup almost broke in half.
As a kid I was on a moped going down the road, and a wasp flew it's spiky ass STRAIGHT into my tongue. I spit out the wasp and had to PULL THE STINGER OUT of my tongue because it hit with such force that it ripped off. Damn thing dug a trench through my taste buds and my tongue was so swollen I couldn't talk for like 12 hours. I lost sympathy for wasps and similar beings that day.
i like watching pests in general suffer. [editline]7th June 2013[/editline] shooting yellow jacket traps with a BB gun during jacket season is pfun. you just need to stand really far away.
But ticks are people too! [sp]8:10[/sp]
Just because x sympathizes with y, doesn't mean X=Y. The correct term would be X<Y, except in this case, it is X>Y because ticks are fucking horrible.
Reading that first part sounds like you're defending the user from not actually being a tick. Do we have an image of a large tick using a computer or something?
We keep a fan running by the patio door in the summer sometimes and one day I was just sitting at my computer here and I heard a "BANG" come from the fan so I went over to investigate. Turns out it was a big bee that flew into the fan and got smacked by one of the blades. The bee had literally had its ass sliced off and was still alive. I dislodged its arse from the fan grille and put it out of is misery as it was barely alive still. Poor thing.
Was driving home from work one day and a bee hit the tapered front edge of my windshield wipers. Sliced him in half. Lower half was embedded in the wiper, upper half disappeared, and about an inch and a half of part of his innerds was stuck to the windshield for like, 2 days.
Facepunch users defending killing ticks. Should we give ticks rights now?
Facepunch users defending killing ticks. Should we give ticks rights now?
I like the ticker.
