I still don't quite understand why people expected an evolution of gameplay in a CoD game based again in the era of WW2.
People might not have liked the future stuff, me personally I thought it was interesting enough but even if you did dislike it at least the future stuff would have allowed them to go fucking wild with whatever, WW2 locks you down into a specific area of gameplay that really can't evolve and that's been done to death already even by this very same franchise.
It's like we got flooded by WW2 shooters years ago, people seem to have forgotten that entire theater of war after the fact was practically a no-go zone gaming wise unless you really did something unique to differentiate yourself and CoD: WWII does not do that, which makes me wonder why people give a shit about it, it's the same old shit that people were absolutely bored of years ago and in fact is a devolution of gameplay compared to the future stuff, a step backwards, not forwards.
The problem is they've done almost everything they could.
The only solution is to stop beating the already decomposed horse, but obviously, that's not gonna happen, seeing how even this gets record sales.
holy shit the trains just keep coming, its basically this https://youtu.be/6aLjwVVNq4s?t=598
I think they should had make the train crash a min longer :v:
Also, what the fuck is up with a Sherman being unable to penetrate a Panzer 4 at like near point blank range fron the front? That's complete bullshit and that mission was lame as hell.
Well the Panzer IV is kind of a piece of shit, its front plate is only 80mms of armor with 0 sloping, theoretically the 75mm m2 could punch through the plate at point blank but just barely, and if it were a Sherman firefly with a 17 pounder it could easily make it through.
Wow, this was the game they tried to have some push for it to be 'engaging and realistic'.
I'll give Battlefield 1 shit all day but my god it's like night and day where despite having mostly classic gameplay, they actually addressed the war with tact and intended to be insightful and honored those who fought in the war.
I'm pretty sure that crash would look so out of place and weird anywhere.
They didn't even bother to try and make it look believeable, it looks like some five year old described a cool train crash they thought up and they recreated that to the tee
I think it looks great in this:
holy shit the trains just keep coming, its basically this https://youtu.be/6aLjwVVNq4s?t=598
The TF2 one is actually less ridiculous.
Also I just realized how many scenes line up in the two. Begging someone to do some tf2-audio over cod gameplay magic.

Well, according to this game every tank the allies used was a Firefly except conveniently for the one they plop you in.
I wouldn't consider the train crash as being ridiculous, here's some footage from a full scale train crash made for a french 1946 movie about the resistance, using equipment the germans left before leaving

The "german" spoken by most of the germans is ridicilous

That's because they're both heavily inspired by Super 8

Train gets derailed by a truck, flips over it, train cars fly past almost squashing the protagonist, one flies straight through a building, disintegrating it, one slams into another stationary one sending it flying REALLY high... Exact same beats.

What does it have to do with what you quoted ?
[editline].[/editline]
Talking about German, I noticed that they put french signs in the Aachen level :

how can you fail that hard

Isn't it right on the border though? It's not unreasonable to suspect that they'd have some signs for tourists from abroad.
Really, it's more likely lazily reused assets, but I could believe that.
That train wreck
It could be used as an analogy on the whole franchise
I don't think a Willys Jeep is going to derail a locomotive probably more than twice it's size and weight, the jeep would've been fucking destroyed by the impact and the train would've likely kept going.

Kinda reminds me of the dumbest Mythbusters episode, the one where they try to make a train derail with a single penny. Like, for real? Of course it isn't going to work. Trains are HEAVY.
I don't understand his hatred for CoD's multiplayer
It isn't meant to be a slow, tactical shooter, the game hasn't been that way since MW2 and the majority of the players wouldn't want that/don't expect that.
If you want a slow, tactical shooter then Battlefield/CS are possibilities for you, CoD is meant to be a fast-paced arcade game

COD 2 was considerably slower and more methodical than this is because it didn't have incredibly loud instant kill incendiary shotgun shells that clutter your screen with bloom, particles and commendation medals.
It's undeniable that the time to kill in COD games has become so ridiculously small that is can become extremely grating. It loses a lot of its appeal once you realize how fucking spastic the whole thing is.

It fucking used to be.
If you compare United Offensives MP to today's it's bloody night and day.

Even CoD4 was significantly more tactical than the new games. Many of the maps in the new games are designed to keep players running in circles, and the kill streak rewards destroy any concept of map control.

Right and that was 13 years ago and the series has changed. CoD has been a fast paced MP shooter for quite a while now and I'm always blown away by the people that come and complain about it every November when they haven't played since 4/WaW/MW2.

Kill Streaks killed CoD MP for me. I think they're an abomination.
I started out not enjoying advanced momvement, but infinite warfare was so smooth and probably one of my favourite multiplayers (Having started at cod4). WW2 is not a good game

Thanks for making some nice assumptions there! I have in fact played the MP for those games that you listed.
Yeah, the series has changed, and in my humble opinion that change is for the worst. I'm obviously in the minority tho.
and its sequel had a dynamic campaign with actual choices that mattered, most of which weren’t prompted.
I loved Blops 1 and 2 and I know exactly what you mean, but I just gotta post this here

Jokes aside, the very same sequence alters your campaign outcome! I think

Yes, it used to be but CoD is a different game now and there are still thousands of people that enjoy it the way it is now. I love how the series has changed over the years, and I've played CoD since the very first, only missing CoD3

Blops 2 had a few of these moments and I didn't realise they were actual choices I could make until this very point. I wondered if there'd be a Makarov joke about Modern Warfare and shooting the guys arm off, but I shot him in the knee and the game kept going.
