I am serious. There is no such thing as skill in a videogame, and I am confident I could kick your ass in TF2.
At the end of the day shooters are real-time point and click adventures. It doesn't take a huge amount of effort to mouse over a bad guys head and click. There is no "skill" in it. And this is coming from the guy with over 1000 hours in TF2, 300 or so in CS:S and about 200 in BF3.
So yeah, you basically just proved what I said.
People who have played guitar for 20 or so years, can go fiddlydiddlydee and say "That's not really that complicated", because it isn't complicated to THEM, because they could go fiddlydiddlydee while uncouncious.
Whereas a beginner tries to go fiddlydiddlydee and breaks his fingers, he doesn't think "it's not that complicated".
isn't this the same date as cover the night

I thought the same when I played my first shooter (TimeSplitters) and that game had the most fuck awful, hard as hell aiming system in the world.

Obviously in all those wasted hours you've learned nothing of competitiveness in video games and I can not longer take you seriously if you can not acknowledge that yes, video games do take a certain skill to them.
Where is the skill in playing a guitar if all you do if move your fingers over the correct string and pluck it?
I am serious. There is no such thing as skill in a videogame, and I am confident I could kick your ass in TF2.
Yes, because you're possibly more skilled than he is.
You're really beginning to sound really fucking stupid.
I am serious. There is no such thing as skill in a videogame, and I am confident I could kick your ass in TF2.
uh that's proof right there
being better at something obviously means there is skill involved
Most skills you could put on a resume and get a job.
I would like to see someone put "Expert at pointing and clicking" on a resume.
I am serious. There is no such thing as skill in a videogame, and I am confident I could kick your ass in TF2.
So you're saying video games take no skill, yet you turn around and say that you are certain you have more skill than him in a certain video game?
The fuck?
lol if video games didn't need skill, it' wouldn't be the fastest growing competitive 'sport' ever
Most skills you could put on a resume and get a job.

Holy fuck, are you serious?
Even if I was a MASTER on guitar or playing football, I wouldn't put that on my resume, because if I'm looking for a job at tech support, they don't give a fuck if I can play beethoven backwards or beat Ronaldo at football.

They do have professional gaming, y'know?

I am good at a videogame and it isn't a skill. I am better at smacking a keyboard and wiggling a mouse. Smacking a keyboard and wiggling a mouse is not a skill. Video games are purely recreation, on the same level as TV and movies. I have never heard of a "skilled television watcher".

Must've been Joe Pesci.

It is actually a good thing to put on, because it shows dedication and whatnot. I am not sure you have ever seen a resume (I am picturing a 16 yearold) but all the ones I have filled out have some sort of section for talents/skills/interests.

no, you put job related skills on a resume
i'd hate to see your resume
[applying for a retail job]
"i can draw very well and have been known to make a mean chop suey"

How many of them live off of winning purely living in their own house (not their moms) without financial support? 0.

You are making no sense and even if you were, then entire "watching movies and music take no skill, therefore video games take no skill" argument is complete bullshit. When watching a movie or listening to music you are not actively doing anything. However, when acting or playing an instrument it does take skill and talent. When watching a video game you are not using any skills. When actively playing a video game you are using skill.

The difference is that television doesn't require any form of input from it's viewer, it just feeds data directly to them.
Do you even know what the word "skill" means?
I'll be way to high to play anything that day.

Also the guy in the video has hardcore reload OCD.

I don't know if you've ever actually filled a resume like it should be filled, because you're supposed to put on there the skills that help the employer get a picture of what you can do regarding the job at hand.
You can, if you want, tell about your hobbies, but that is totally not a necessity.

It's because currently e-sports are not as big as traditional sports (e.g. Pro Football, Basketball, Baseball, ect.) In the future there may be a time where professional gamers get a similar spotlight to professional athletes.
Besides, there are some tournament where the victor can win up to a million dollars.
Playing games is a form of entertainment. Playing guitar is a form of entertainment, yes, but it also doubles up as a job (bands), income and such.
As previously stated, I dont think any person lives 100% with their own house/apartment off of video game winnings only. And if people do, maybe 10 max in the world.

Oh fucking christ.
Ever heard of Fatal1ty? He has estimated $500,000 earnings just from gaming tournaments and sponsorship + merchandise.
lol this is hilarious
video games take hand-eye coordination, motor skills, timing, perception, decision making (including in stressful situations), strategy, communication skills, problem solving skills, awareness, and many more skills.
television takes nothing, you just veg out and watch.
All these kids trying to defend their "1337 gaming sk1lls" is utterly hilarious.

Because unless something can be done professionally (which games actually CAN anyway) it's not a skill, right?
EDIT: Okay nevermind I'm certain now that this guy is being an idiot on purpose, either that or he's just been backed into a corner and has to resort to calling us all kiddies and pulling a bunch of stupid baseless arguments out of his ass to avoid facing the fact that he's wrong.
All these kids trying to defend their "1337 gaming sk1lls" is utterly hilarious.
No one is defending anything, everyone is debunking your stupid ass comments one by one.

And not many people live solely on the money they make from their professional sports career.
