Are these the guys who were dropping the f-bomb in front of children and being dicks at Minecon?
Pretty sure notch admit that he was lying after and he was just throwing a fit.
it's weird, they put out a couple episodes in quick succession; saying they'd be coming out weekly from then on... And then nothing, not even an explanation.
And nothing of value was lost. Seriously. There are 2 people worth watching from the yogscast, and neither of them are the main guys.
The best thing they make is the podcast. Pretty much all their minecraft videos are garbage.
I wouldn't really mind this if they did do these 2 things: 1. Not sell their ripped off parody song for money 2. Give credit to Slackcircus
i remember one time one of the guys on yogscast went on gmod tower demanding for people to suck his dick etc because he was from yogscast it was a fun day
Are these the guys who were dropping the f-bomb in front of children and being dicks at Minecon?
Yup.
Not trying to defend them or anything but isn't this called a 'homage'? Still pretty dickish to try and get revenue from it though.
There's homages and then there's straight up ripping it and barely even trying to hide the fact that it stealing. A homage would be like a little tease or a cameo of something well known, not copying a video and changing frames to look like your character.
Yup.
press the red button
iirc Notch basically called them socially-maladjusted scumbags over Twitter so i think their reaction wasn't totally unjustified in that case this is still a super awful thing to do though

Are these the guys who were dropping the f-bomb in front of children and being dicks at Minecon?
Why does this annoy me so much? I don't even like Yogscast. They have had a couple of good videos, but I have always been rather meh to them. To clarify yes Notch called them out on Twitter, but he never seemed to witness what happened himself and was just going off rumours (which are always super reliable source right?) They apparently swore during some main show, and the issue was never brought up in rehersal. There was a lot of miscommunication and the first minecon was an absolute shabbly mess. Minecon was a clusterfuck leading to misinformation and bullshit flying around which then led to the Yogscast scandal. Hell Notch sold the rights to Yogscast minecon videos to IGN without consulting them. The first Minecon was absolutely fucked up. I don't know why that annoys me so much, but people seem to have a bad habbits of thinking rumours are automatically true on the internet. OT: Didn't like the video, just made me want to watch the original and I also agree with the people saying this was a shitty thing to do without crediting the original author. [editline]24th June 2013[/editline]
Just like when they went all bitchy at Notch for something and they said that minecraft would never been popular without them. I am not saying that notch is great but that shows how fucking egocentric they are, it was already popular and they just jumped on the bandwagon.
Why so many agrees? This didn't even happen.
i remember one time one of the guys on yogscast went on gmod tower demanding for people to suck his dick etc because he was from yogscast it was a fun day
Is there a video anywhere?
i remember one time one of the guys on yogscast went on gmod tower demanding for people to suck his dick etc because he was from yogscast it was a fun day
GMT became nearly unplayable for 2 months after Yogscast due to the wave of little children invading the server. Almost every 5 seconds there was a question about something that could be figured out just by pressing buttons.

Haven't had the will or felt like it was worth playing with all the immature children that invaded.

All I really remember hearing about Minecon was that it was bad, Yogscast was misbehaving and Notch was making a bunch of fuss. I think it all just goes hand-in-hand with the Minecraft community.
Yup, you're right. Haven't had the will or felt like it was worth playing with all the immature children that invaded.
And the bad part is, I donated right before it happened, and now I never play there because of how downhill it went.

I can't quite believe I used to like these people.
I can't quite believe I used to like these people.
They only started acting like assholes after they got on the Youtube Partnership gravy train.
Just like when they went all bitchy at Notch for something and they said that minecraft would never been popular without them. They live a great life, famous youtubers and shit, so of course they'll be arrogant jackasses. Such is life.
The "original" He-Man animated song is a cover of the song "What's Up" by "4 Non Blondes" and all the art is from He-Man. So who cares if they're doing a homage to something that itself used the assets of other artists? But no one should be making money off this without paying 4 Non Blondes and the creators of He-Man since it's all derivative work.

I like how it pimps out the indie guys but still... every time I have ever seen it usually looks like a mess of confusion.
Fucking hell :v:
oh my god my sides
For all we know, the real owners of all the content they used from other artists might get a royalty from their sales though. The Yogscast may have contacted 4 Non Blondes and the creators of He-Man who truly own all the content from the "original" animation we've all seen. Slackcircus doesn't have rights to any of it, other than the single vocal performance which is still infringing on copyright if they didn't contact the previously mentioned groups too.

They just said the animation was done by such-n-such, and that the audio was 'composed and mixed' by so-n-so. And yes it's easy to tell from the title of the video it's a parody of HEYYEAYEA, but some people who watch this may not have seen that; and in turn those who watch HEYYEAYEA may not know where the original video is from or that there is an original video at all. And that's the issue here.
Should we really be crucifying them for a slight oversight of giving credit? They did a funny parody of an internet meme the same way a thousand others do with a thousand other memes. Nobody gets all upset when not every harlem shake video gives credit to Filthy Frank in the video description.
#1 Yogscat fan right here.
i love the veggies casts
I think it's really more the effort that they put in to making it, the entire thing was rotoscoped animation, the audio was a straight remix of the original, and the lyrics were pretty awful. It's more they put ALL credit towards themselves that's the problem.
I cannot comment on the people of yogcast, but their fanbase is pretty terrible from what Ive seen. One incident that got to me was when Notch was doing a live guest call in to speak on Desert Bus For hope charity and the Desert bus IRC was flooded with yogcast fans spouting angry comments. From what I heard the DB staff had to stop and tell them that this was not the place to bring that kind of stuff especially during a charity event. They might have even contacted the yogcast to tell their fans to knock it off but that might have been a rumor.
#1 Yogscat fan right here.
I'm just not ready to hop on this bandwagon just because "they're the yogscast and we hate those guys" and are a large successful Youtube group.
