So was the player garbage or did DICE screw up the melee controls this time around?

Damn that protagonist switching is cool, I've always found the Battlefield campaigns beautiful but incredibly boring, but it looks like they really wanted to kick narrative and storytelling up a notch to pay their respects to "the war to end all wars".
so where do they go after battlefield 1, anyway with a name like that and the fact that the series doesn't seem to be wanting to jump the shark into pure sci-fi like CoD did, it's weird to think of what will pop up in the next few years

But there are going to be plenty of characters to play since the campaign is more like an anthology showing off different stories. A black-french person at the classic Trenches of France, An American Pilot and his cute scarf wearing British buddy, an Arab Rebel chick who's BFFs with Lawrence of Arabia, and etc. [editline]1st October 2016[/editline]
so where do they go after battlefield 1, anyway with a name like that and the fact that the series doesn't seem to be wanting to jump the shark into pure sci-fi like CoD did, it's weird to think of what will pop up in the next few years
Honestly I wouldn't give a shit about the title and enjoy the first real AAA WWI FPS ever.

My bad, still.

complete waste of potential if we don't also play as central powers
Holy heck i'm actually super excited for the single player.

Felt like the player was staying alive too long and killing enemies too easily, but then again, it's a trailer and they probably did that to showcase the game a bit more. I imagine, or at least hope, that in the final game it's much more intense
The sound design is really good, but personally I think that the audio environment should be a lot more unrelenting, more vicious. There was an explosion right next to the player, and the audio volume sounded the same as his rifle... I didn't like that.
I'll be honest. I really want to see if they can pull off the Christmas Truce in this game. Digging the less hard-core all thrills action vibe from previous BF games so far. Now just add a German segment and I'm sold.
They better have been playing on easy mode.
This cutscene really reminds me of a certain scene in Fury. In fact I'm pretty sure they took inspiration from it.
Honestly if the campaign does really well here, I'd love to see what they'd do with Vietnam.
Vietnam is my favourite setting for war games.
I recall Metal of Honor: Airborne doing something like this, though it was pretty much just airdropping in at a checkpoint. Don't know if it meant you were a different character. Doesn't really matter though. Running out there and firing your weapon at whoever you can see is a poor perception of what a war like that is really like. We don't have an overwhelming fear of death in a video game like a soldier would have to cope with in real, heavy combat. Ask anyone who plays paintball, a non-lethal means of combat. You're not gonna move an inch from your cover if it means getting shredded by painful projectiles. Can you imagine how much worse that feels in a real firefight?
Looks cool, hopefully they won't fuck it up like the past games after BC2.
This game follows the Harlem hellfighters, right? I hope it will go out of its way to provide a mature, ambiguous, unbiased, historical and in depth narrative of racial issues and happenings during the course of the first world war, and the 10's and 20's in general instead of just hamfisting it in for brownie points

Rest of the SP has different chapters where you play as different people. The Air War as a Canadian pilot and his British observer, a British tanker, a Bedouin Warrior woman, an Australian runner at Gallipoli, and an Italian Arditi trooper.
It's got those scripted events that are added to the world, rather than made to drive it. The soldier huddled up behind some wreckage cowering during the tank section hits especially hard, reminds me of watching NPCs dragging or consoling soldiers in the old Call of Duty games.
I'm hoping the Germans will also be playable, and maybe that they'll add French and Russian singleplayer campaigns once their respective expansions come out.
One thing I hope they do with the game is a section where you're the one who has to run from trench to trench. I just think that a section where you know when that whistle blows you're pretty much going to your death would be a powerful sequence.
I really, really hope the Germans are the ones you play as in the epilogue

Or maybe Korean war.
