the existence of god would break so many universal laws that saying it was created by cupcakes would be more scientific
And how exactly would cupcakes make more sense?
The fact that you've escaped natural selection is a proof of divine intervention.
whats wrong with wanting proof?
Hey religious people, could you please prove me the existence of your god? If you prove it I'll be religious.
I'm sort of religious, but I ditched all the shit like gods. So dunno.

you just have to have faith in them and they will give you yumm,
but mainly because a cupcake never tried to go faster then light and all the other things god can do, also cupcakes are something i can see so i know that they are real
You're confusing improving your knowledge with merely changing your beliefs.
I think you've misinterpreted what I posted. I merely postulated that a spritual dimension is possible and suggested that until there is absolute proof to the contrary, people should keep an open mind.

your thinking wrong you should believe things after they are proven, not believe things until they are proven wrong or else you will be believing in aliens and big foot
There may not really be aliens or a yeti, but there may be something that people mistake for aliens and yeti - something we don't yet understand or know about. It isn't likely, but it's possible - and so in my opinion shouldn't be completely discounted.

yea well if something has a low chance of being real, just like a vampire, i will not do anything to look out for it like sleep in the sunlight so my neck doesnt get bitten
Just because you have science to provide concrete answers doesn't mean you should abandon all spiritual elements. Some beliefs can obviously be proven wrong but many others are far more metaphysical and are not able to be properly defined by science. There is plenty of beauty and understanding that can be drawn from the scientific but it doesn't have to be the only source of it. As long as they don't conflict, it's fine to have anything.

using science is kinda the only way to see if your belief is right or not because it doesn't change its views just so it can get more people believing in it, even if a religion isn't harmful doesn't mean its true

That's not the point at all. It doesn't matter if it's true or not, it's what you gain from that understanding. Something doesn't have to be true to give meaning and beauty to people.

Yeah and thats called delusion.

Do you really think you need to make things up in order to give hope?
Owned.
Yeah and thats called delusion.
A personal god is a delusion, Humanism is a philosophical concept. There's a difference.
imasillypiggys, you're missing the point here. What everyone's trying to say to you is to be open-minded and accept the fact that different people believe different things. Why can't you do that?
Do you really think you need to make things up in order to give hope?
I'm not talking about imaginary and completely untrue things. There's plenty of stuff that cannot be disproven which isn't abysmally unlikely.

Such as?
your thinking wrong you should believe things after they are proven, not believe things until they are proven wrong or else you will be believing in aliens and big foot
Not believing in aliens is really dumb.
You can't honestly expect the Earth to be the only home for life in the entire universe.

UFO sightings on the other hand....

yea i know people believe different things im just saying there not true, isnt not like im going to go bother christains or anything because they dont believe what i do, im just saying that you dont have to believe in untrue things to have hope
well that's what you are doing right now
well that's what you are doing right now
what, not believe in untrue things?
no you are bothering religious people by constantly saying that what they believe is untrue
no you are bothering religious people by constantly saying that what they believe is untrue
They started a point and we discuss it, thats the point of a thread
I wouldn't call this a discussion; more like atheists trying to force people to stop believing in religion
Also to Badal - thank you for posting that. Why can't atheists and religious people just get along?
