It's been a while since I watched GradeA. What happened to him?
Youtube drama is a powerful drug.
It changes people.
31 to 46 hours on a video that is made in movie maker and paint? What the fuck? I'm guessing he reuses a lot of his images of his characters so it's not like he is redrawing everything.
Unless he's making dozens of videos a week and releasing one a week so he has time to shit out the longer bullshit Youtube drama videos, he kinda has no excuse.
Man, I remember when GradeAUnderA videos were really passionate and well thought out, sooo long ago now-wait a minute, that was like 3 months ago tops. :v:
I swear GradeAUnderA has gone through the cycle of gaining mass popularity, and then suffering creatively from it, the fastest I've ever seen.
31 to 42 hours of staying up without sleep to make videos with ms paint and movie maker
yeah fucking right mate
Youtuber cr1tikal comes to mind, he is a fairly well known youtuber who could have gotten a comfortable living monetizing his videos but he refused since he believed that money corrupts people, he never wanted to get money out of something he considers his hobby
Because this is exactly what happened to gradeA, he started out passionate, making these videos since he loved making them and seeing people enjoy them. Then the dollar bills started appearing and he went full force, quitting his job and becoming this greedy drama-whore who puts out videos like nothing just to get money.
I think the moral of the story is, don't be a greedy fuck.

Cr1tikal straight-up donates the money he gets from Youtube, to charities.
Lol isn't it normal to wake up semi-depressed not wanting to do anything? I've only had a handful of days in my life were I woke up feeling great.

Especially when you have a full time job. More so when you have to commute (rush hour, delays ect).
I'm guessing he works from home so he doesn't have to face that every day of the working week.
This dude likely makes more than I do in a month at my $8/hr retail job, I'd gladly trade places with him. Can't be more difficult and stressful than dealing with irate customers for 8+ hours a day.
I didnt really understand his point about it feeling like a job... Isnt it his job?

Never worked retail, but is this really true? I know that some people are irate assholes, but I have been buying food pretty much every other day for a year (the food stocked always seems to go out of date in like 4 days nowadays so we can't do weekly shops that easily...) and I never see these people. Everyone seems to just go quietly to the self checkout and that's that. Is it really that bad (ignoring the pay) and are they really that frequent?

YouTubers are generally lazy and have easy lives for the money they make. To be making the same amount of money as most reasonably big YouTubers make in a 'normal' job you would be probably working exceptionally long hours (and actually working, not checking Twitter but occasionally doing a tiny bit of video editing) and most likely in an actually stressful environment where fucking up will be punished.
GradeAUnderA: I Do Not Enjoy Making YouTube Videos
well that's funny gradeA because I don't enjoy watching them
I'm guessing he works from home so he doesn't have to face that every day of the working week.
I feel like it's becoming an increasing issue with how professional YouTubers are having a hard time understanding the lives of normal people now they do this for a living. Even at a non sucky level like how TotalBiscuit's tastes no longer reflect that of his audience because he plays so many games, gets them for free and makes videos about them for a living. Like him, Dodger and Jesse spend substantial amounts of time moaning about competitive gaming in the co-optional podcast.

Pretty sure Robbaz does the same. Or at least he did for his DS2 Die for Charity streams.

Where I work it is. I live in a very ghetto part of town and we get all kinds. People that get impatient cause god forbid they have to wait in line for a min or two, or when their mountains of coupons don't work, etc. I get to deal with all that plus standing on my feet the whole time while putting stock out on shelves. It's shit, but it's a job at least.

What the fuck, Why is the pay so damn low.
What the fuck, Why is the pay so damn low.
American retail jobs are pretty bad. I should know, I work for a walmart :saddowns:
This legit upsets me.
People who had to work actual jobs just to get by and make ends meet, and had to work really, really shitty jobs at that sometimes even working 16 hour shifts between two jobs leaving the house at 8 AM and coming back home at 12AM completely fucking exhuasted after a day of doing shitty heavy lifting and cooking or mopping floors or whatever else bottom of the barrel low pay jobs some people went through myself included, and doing that all over again the next day and the next day and so on month to month paycheck to paycheck, that is fucking hard.
And then this guy comes along and has the audacity to claim his "job" is hard where he talks into a mic in his ACed apartment all day talking about shit nobody even cares about anymore. This is very hard, apperently. Especially all the hard work he puts into his ms paint drawings.
Guy has absolutely no sense of pespective and he should be grateful he got lucky with his Youtube "career". Fuck me, he has no idea just how shitty life can get. Complete child.
Want to know something funny? According to Grade, he used to be a teacher, now I'm wondering if that's true because teaching is one of the most soul crushing jobs in existance and makes this job seem like nothing.

Probably not a teacher for long. Teaching can be fun if you're just doing substituting for people or teach things like 5th grade for a couple of years. It's really when you do things like move into middle/high school, or go really low, or get into ESE programs like my mom did. That's when it turns into the worst job ever.

He was a teacher for a short while but then got fired.

Yeah he's definitely not telling the full story there.
I'm surprised this post isn't getting winners.
He's not making videos anymore!

Hey, why not add to this. I work roughly 10 hours a day in a rough job and live with two roommates and we can barely make ends meet. One of us hasn't had a job for three months, so most of each months pay goes towards rent, the rest transport and occasionally food. I don't really pity GAUA, to put it mildly.
I'm sure it'll last as long as his promises to not do Drama videos.
[sp]It'll only last like a week or two.[/sp]
Let's play a game of "Spot the people who didn't actually watch the video"!

He's just 'switching up' his formula.
Doesn't he understand how hobby's or jobs work?
When you do stuff for quite some time, there will almost certainly be some days where you don't want to do it. No matter if it's a hobby or a job.
And now that he's making a living of it, he's forced to make more videos.
He needs to realize that his hobby is his job now, and deal with the fact, that some days it's just not as fun to do it.
To me he sounds like a cry baby.

never forget leafyishere giving up his first vacation in months to respond to idubbz :suicide: Youtubers really have no perspective on how everyone else is making it these days, i worked for a year and a half straight with no vacation because i got fucked out of it numerous times.

Even cr1tikal eventually started a patreon though.
GradeA has been pretty unapologetically greedy especially during the whole taking money from Keemstar bit, but making videos for absolutely no pay at all isn't really a fair standard to hold anyone to.
I remember making a post about this on the Pokemon video thread a while ago. I'll just quote it here because it seems relevant to what is being discussed:
Grade must be making so much bank from this.
His Pateron makes roughly £2013 a month (that's just under double what I earn working 37.7 hours a week. In London.)
He gets donations from Twitch
Whatever he makes from stuff he sponsors such as Lootcrate
Plus whatever he makes from YouTube adverts
I think he has (had?) merchandise as well? I think I saw he had T-shirts or whatever.
All this from making rants on topics which have been covered already and is just a "GradeA rehash" or topics which is just grasping at straws. I do miss his rants on relatable life topics such as School and Interviews.
You'd figure he would have at least got himself a better microphone by now. Unless he still records from his phone as his "thing". Also the fact that he still uses movie maker and Paint (from what I remember).
It's more or less Rich YouTuber Problems at this point. Similar to leafy's "My first holiday in months" statement.
