child hailed as brave for holding pride flag while being confused by a preacher ranting

Sorry to hear that, Pride parades in the US aren't like that ime. I wouldn't bring my kids to a Swedish Pride I guess. That's pretty hardcore.
A reminder to people who hate Pride because it's gay people showing off: It wouldn't be necessary if gay people weren't routinely murdered and hated for their sexuality all across the globe. It is, essentially, a protest, combined with telling others not to hide themselves away and be terrified to come out.

That said, there are definitely some people who take it too far; read 'portion of a large community are idiots'.

That's not anything to do with the pride parade though, that's just Swedes being Swedes :v:

We were literally discussing wether or not it's a good idea to bring children to a pride parade
(although I found them extremely distasteful, yes)

A minority of people in a large public event being sexually brash isn't any reason to shy away from events geared around celebrating equality, and causes no harm to children.

whatever you say man, I'm not particularly surprised that you hold opinions like this seeing as you're, well, you
it's a stupid way of celebrating equality, and as you said yourself "people being sexual will scar my eyes because I'm not mature"
since when was a child considered mature, what the fuck
whatever you say man, I'm not particularly surprised that you hold opinions like this seeing as you're, well, you
He is right though. Why would it cause harm to the children? That's the same fucking argument Russia uses to justify their anti-gay laws.

Can a child consent to being to being surrounded by 40y.o. men with cocks hanging out?

"A naked person masturbating in front of a child, in what way is that harmful?"
is that seriously what you're asking
"A naked person masturbating in front of a child, in what way is that harmful?"

Is this seriously what you think people 1. do at a gay pride event 2. only do at a gay pride event 3. are allowed to do at a gay pride event?
Exposing your kid to events that promote tolerance and the understanding of others can't be a bad thing. As it was said several times before the part of the gay pride parade that's dedicated to people showcasing their weird fetishes is quite marginal so with a bit of planning and preparation you can just avoid them entirely.
On the subject of whether or not these people are helping the movement is another debate, personally I think the fetish parts of these parades are usually quite distasteful and doesn't help at all because it pushes people who don't know any better to associate homosexuality with weirdos.
But yeah you should totally be able to bring a kid to a gay pride parade and manage to avoid the parts that you'd rather not show a ten years old.
"A naked person masturbating in front of a child, in what way is that harmful?"

It's not harmful, it's just disgusting.
I don't think anyone supports anyone jerking off in any public parade of any kind.
THe best part is this wasn't even a pride parade, it was a music festival.
So you can all shut up about the kid potentially seeing dildos waving and butts hanging out.
I've always thought that pride parades should send the message that LGBT individuals are normal and productive members of society like anyone else, and using that sentiment to garner support from those who are on the fence about LGBT rights. Parading downtown with your asses hanging out in full BDSM gear wont garner support from anyone aside from LGBT individuals. It's really very counter intuitive to alienate the general population like that.

Was someone masturbating infront of the child??
One problem facing lgbt people is this stereotype of them being degenerate sexual deviants. I think pride parades need to stop being so sexual. Like, less men in full bdsm gear airhumping eachother in public or wearing nothing but a balloon to cover their crotches, etc.
People getting drunk and doing stuff like this is probably not beneficial for gay kids being bullied or for creating a good image of homosexuals for more conservative people who have a hard time accepting gays as just ordinary respectable people with one harmless difference.
Old post on the topic.

Implying gay people are predators

1. There were people doing that, yes.
2. I don't see how that's relevant
3. I don't know, I didn't see any action being taken against those people, at least
and you people need to understand that this is not me saying "No child should ever even be close to a pride event", this is me debating with "Bitches" regarding his/her post where he/she basically said "Who cares if Johan, 10, gets to look at a bunch of perverted idiots with no self control?"
If it was a bunch of heterosexual people acting like that I would've reacted in the exact same way

I'm sorry but I call bullshit on that. Show some proof that people openly masturbated in front of children at a gay pride event. The media would have a field day if something like this happened.

that is not what I said, I didn't see any children that day, fortunately. As I've already said, you need to read my posts in order, otherwise you'll just mis-interpret me
Here's an example of what I meant:
My day
1. People masturbating on a truck
2. (hypothetical) Children in the "audience" watching said truck
3. A bunch of children just watched a group of people masturbate. 100% normal and healthy and good?
I also don't understand why you're so stuck with the masturbation part, what about the part with the extremely revealing fetish suits and people humping eachother
that's what I'm trying to say, pride parades would be much better off if they were more family friendly, Bitches and some other people apparently disagree, thinking sexual content is completely harmless to a child [and that people against the sexualization are apparently prudish bigots?]
why not take a kid to a gay pride parade? whats the worst that could happen

Try to make a point that doesn't involve you making up situations that would never happen in real life.
Try to make a point that doesn't involve you making up situations that would never happen in real life.
For like the fourth time, Bitches and some other people have literally asked "what would the problem with such a situation be?"
For like the fourth time, Bitches and some other people have literally asked "what would the problem with such a situation be?"
No, you took the words "people being sexually brash" and turned it into "people masturbating" which mean completely different things.
To make a rather crude analogy, it's like if someone said it was fine for kids to watch a boxing match and you came in and said "so you're okay with kids witnessing ASSAULT AND BATTERY ?"

Sloppy MSpaint work, but you get the point. I assume I've misunderstood something? I'm LITERALLY trying to say that bringing children into a sexualized environment is a bad idea, and I'm shocked that people disagree with me, so at this point I can only assume that's not what they actually mean
How does one even "more or less masturbate"
And if I follow the thread of quotes up to the first quoted post it just straight up goes back to "people being sexually brash" :
A minority of people in a large public event being sexually brash isn't any reason to shy away from events geared around celebrating equality, and causes no harm to children.
Now the point bitches makes is a bit exaggerated as well but he never said anything about masturbation and you're the one who constantly hammered the "it looked like he was masturbating" point and then later somehow turned it into "people are actually masturbating at these parades".

so revealing fetish suits and exposed sexual organs aren't bad enough? some of them were masturbating, some of them were rubbing themselves against various objects
See post #83, bitches said he/she had no problem with children attending those sorts of things, because it's just ""some skin""

You left out your other post:

And now you backpedal back to "fetish suits and exposed sexual organs" (even though I'm quite sure that the latter one is still illegal).

yes, because I assumed you were asking me "what's wrong with a child watching a bunch of adults masturbating? (among other sexual things)"
considering my other posts where I talked about my experiences, and people replying basically saying I was a bigot
basically
-I saw people masturbating and showing their tits at an event like this, and I don't think you should bring children to them. They should become more family friendly.
-Why would that be harmful
-are you serious?

I mentioned that in one of the first posts, though? (in the same one, actually)
