I kind of feel proud my first name was written on the wall after the big resonance at 11:35.
On topic, the jump's from the scenes dont kind of make sense and i did not know how the cp resistance guy died. just a scene where they were doing stuff in the destroyed bath-room.
Hah, I remember how many fake videos there were on Youtube for Part 2. So my initial response to this thread was "probably a troll"
Anyways, the cinematography was top-notch, loved all the angles and shots they did.
Few effects (Smoke Debris, Bridge collapsing, Citadel clouds) were among the most believable and impressive.
But the game models, muzzle flashes, and blood seemed to noticeably fake.
The camera shake in the few shots were extremely irritating. Like it had a few jerky moments in a stasis shot. It was very unnatural.
Story was a bit messy. I got confused a couple times when it was a flashback scene.
and here is another headcrab attack

Ok. ConroComments. The chick looks about 28 or so to me. The combine have been in control for, oh, 20 years? So in those 20 years, you learned no english, the langauge used by Overwatch and Dr. Breen, your administator? Oh, you've been in the resistance? That's fine. Oh wait no it's not because the leaders of the resistance speak english too. The vortigaunts, a different SPECIES, learned one human language in 20 years. Guess what it was? English. So you must have had no contact with any intelligent being for TWENTY YEARS. Right.
also, pshhhhHHHHHHBOOOM got annoying fast
Wasn't really into the sex scene, though I did like the rest of the emotional scenes.
I do like how they made Combine Overwatch and Civil Protection fight along each other. Most of the times you never see that type of thing in HL2. They also looked like worthy opponents.
please put troll face at gman ;D
Loved it and kinda' hated it all at once. On one hand, top notch effects for a fan-film plus stunning on-location shooting. The Half Life 2 "feel" is captured.
And on the other hand...
This might be right down the Cinema Snob's alley, but this fucking thing goes WAY too pretentious art-film on me. I REALLY could have done without the shoehorned romance, and the editing that made the development of said romance worth nothing, because it's all given to us after the fact.
The worst of it, naturally, is that neither of them were even seen in part 1. Part 1 might have had writing and acting problems (and this one does too) but for fuck's sake, at least it felt like we might give a damn about these characters later. In this one, the two from the first part become side-characters, and thus, with the pacing as it is, it felt like we were just skipping chapters every 20 seconds on a far more interesting DVD.
That said, I have to say that I loved the intensity of the final Citadel explosion, though I had to laugh at the attack of the controlled-demolition stock footage, however well they utilized it.
Also, I'm kinda' stunned at the inconsistency in switching jarringly between the appropriately cloud-choked City 17 with the swirling clouds at the center...and blue fucking sky...
They edited everything ELSE in post. Correcting the PURE...BLUE...SKY...(hint, we use a 'keying' of sorts to remove such things) was just a step too far?
I didn't get to know the guy enough to actually care he died, and tbh, none of the characters show any personality so far.
way better than part 1
the first scene with the russian girl was great
the use of a non linear narrative was good but really they don't work with 12 minute pieces. Poor choice for a style considering the time budget they had/wanted/whatever.
You can't speak any english? FUCK
[editline]19th August 2011[/editline]
do you guys not realize this story takes place over the span of far more than just one day?
I actually didn't really like it...
Mostly because the two main characters were horribly underwritten, and I didn't care for their story. Also, they both acted like idiots.
acted like or were acted by?
"This video has been removed by the user" :(
damn, removed
that's what you get for complaining and not reading the "show more" of the about section of the video!
Since it's removed it means the 'fixed' version is almost done/done and they're adding in the subtitles.
[QUOTE=CheeseMan;31820140]Ignore the "having to tell" bit then. But I don't care if they say it's non linear, if they were trying to make it non linear they shouldn't have given it a linear structure, that's just a cop-out.

Those prussians had it right
It's FINALLY back up. I updated the OP.
Characters like that Russian chick just piss me off.
Badly written attempts at invoking empathy (noo, hes ded, ima cry in the middle of a firefight!) and plain stupidity (He saved me? Better point a gun at him!)
Also [url=http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ChekhovsGun?from=Main.ptitlexn9xzsjd5fif]Chekhov' Gun[/url]
The scenes are so badly linked it's crazy. Where the fuck did they get all those guns, when the fuck did they suddenly meet the other two rebels. When the fuck this why the fuck that.
And the first scene was god damn stupid too.
"Hey I just saved your life"
"NO FUCK YOU IM GOING TO KILL YOU"
[editline]25th August 2011[/editline]
And the 1 hour instant love relationship.
YOU ARE SO GOOD WITH A SNIPER RIFLE I THINK I LOVE YOU
[editline]25th August 2011[/editline]
Hell the entire thing is overwhelmed by how horribly written it is.
I'm not diggin' it. Doesn't feel as if they'd put the same effort as in the first one. I'm not talking special effects here; I'm talking about putting their heart into their project. Sure it looks pretty (except those gun fire effects and strider blood effects :pwn:) but it lacks narrative and character development. No one expects amazing acting from these kinda movies but come on son at least there could've been a character behind the people standing and moving in the film.
Even if it took them two years making it it feels as bland as any other action movie, but with a lower budget.
(and what the fuck is up with the overdone shaky camera?)
Well it's good to know I wasn't the only that felt this way.
wheres the i hate walking guy?
[QUOTE=Lexinator;31928602]wheres the i hate walking guy?[/QUOTE]
