When it comes out I wonder if people will remake TF2 maps for it :v:
No one is pointing out that the scene with Junkrat explaining his plan is pretty much this scene from Shaun of the Dead
Ehhh i kind of personally think its a bit of a longshot. The 'plan' scene of narrating it, going back adding aspect, rinse repeat till all done and thought out isn't exactly a shaun of the dead thing. I think loosely inspired suits better as it does somewhat invoke the feel, albeit much more choppier, and much more basic. But it does love to use that snapshot 'flashback' noise used by Wright to jump cut.
it's almost pretty much imo
Btw loving the slight borederlands feel baked into the map as well as the joker like personality and animation of Junkrat.
I don't see the Timon and Pumbaa connection myself aside from the fact Junk is skinny and Hog is obese. Like Timon isn't exactly insane and Pumbaa isn't some angry asshole who likes to murder people. Plus they aren't complete cowards, which are defining traits of Timon and Pumbaa. :v:
I think it's more in how they interact with each other. The skinny one thinks he's the genius and develops some convoluted plan that he screws up, while the fat "dumb" one tries to keep it on track and mitigate the other's eccentricities. Pumbaa and Roadhog both seem like they have a lot less to prove and can usually think more clearly, even if they may seem a bit slow at times.

In all honesty the gameplay style of Overwatch would probably fit better in 2Fort than TF2 characters would.
At least if you have an intel room full of Bastion, a single D.Va ult can clear out that room in a jiffy.
this is so needlessly antagonistic and condescending. all the dude said is he doesn't like the characterization. chill out man
personally i think the setup was really on-the-nose. could've done without junkrat explaining every 3 seconds that he's all about money and bombs. but the meat of the comedy is in the planning montage anyway, and the timing is spot on, not to mention the gorgeous animation, so in the end it's no big deal
I was "antagonistic" for the reason specified in my post.
Because ever so often, someone comes along and deems whatever character lacking personality, no matter who or what the character is, as if they are the masters of personality and know exactly what a character needs.
You could show them UT2k4 characters and then show them this, and they'd say both lack personality, despite one having characters that are nothing but avatars with tacked on backstories to fit their faces, and the others actually have a backstory that says way more than "he was this and that, and now he kills people, slowly.", along with even a video on their shenanigans.
Apparently, that doesn't portrays any personality at all.

yes and i'm saying your reason don't make no sense
this
what personality? I mean the animation was amazing but the characterization in this was pretty terrible.
Basically they portrayed Junkrat as 3 things, likes money, likes explosives and is stupid. But the jokes were pretty shallow and not very creative with how they were written. Whoever did the animation/shots carried the humor as much as they could.
is just a normal dude going about his normal opinion in a very normal way. nowhere near as snobby as you describe
this in-engine cinematic has moving mouths.
therefore mouth moving technology exists in the overwatch engine
when are the players in-game going to open their mouths when they emote?

Usually such things are disabled or simplified for performance reasons. Kinda like how Tf2 has HWM models for source filmmaker and ingame model with a simplified set of facial flexes. For those who don't know, basically the high quality model might have a different control for opening the mouth, moving the jaw on the Y axis, raising an eyebrow, making the ends of the lips smile or frown etc. while the ingame model just uses one flex to create a facial expression along with another flex for each syllable.

Except Overwatch in-game character models have fully rigged mouths.
Ask the guys over in the Modeling section who port the models.
If the in-game models didn't have the mouths rigged, then that'd be one thing. But they do. So I'm really not sure why they wouldn't be used when emoting

Source games used a system that allowed the face anims and the body anims to work independently but cooperatively.
Most other games out there don't, which applies to Overwatch as well. Their faces do move when you use the taunt emotes though!
