google wants to be facebook
google wants to be facebook
they should just stick to being a search engine, they haven't perfected anything either, the image search is so sluggish..
With all the smart people working at google, how did they come to the decision that this would be a good idea?

Probably not a democratic decision among any of those who actually use this service, as you might imagine.
I imagine this video is pretty accurate of what happened.
Can we have such update there on FP, too? +garrypls +thatcat
Youtube isn't run by people, its run by the patriots. They are leading us to a better future and getting rid of all the bullshit.
another not so good feature is this one
[t]http://maxsblog.de/sharex/56US-07-11.png[/t]
it now allows people who don't like criticism to simply block any word containing something about criticism
If you use adblock plus you can add a filter that removes it. I did that a long time ago
Wow shit. I just adblocked the entire comments section. GENIUS

Damn it only worked for one video

Sounds like the perfect feature for MaxOfS2D
Last night I tried looking up on some old videos I had commented on to see how the new "sorted by rating" worked (and to see if I was still in one of the top comments).
I was the second comment in this sorting (huzzah), but I didn't see where the rating actually was.
Today, I read a post here saying "they made the ratings boring and gray", and I figured I must have missed them on Youtube. I went to the video in the OP, and hey, there they were! It seemed like they were in a new place, but I guess I could have missed those...
But then I went back to a bunch of videos. The hands are just plain missing from them.
So basically you can't even rate comments on a lot of videos anymore. When their whole point of this was to sort things by rating.
GOOD JOB GUYS
Is Youtube run by Benjamin Button or something? Because if you go backwards through the site's history, it looks like it's getting improvements as you go along.
I haven't liked the way youtube has functioned in years... 2008 was probably the last time I appreciated it.

They replaced the thumbs up and thumbs down on comments with a +1
really the only good thing to come out of this is the ability to edit your comments. Everything else is just a downgrade and pointless.

Pretty sure youtube is on the fore front of trying to stop adblock from being used.
So you can enjoy those tasty google ad linked adverts about YOU

stop using google
I merged my Youtube account and my G+ account. I kept my Youtube username and used a pseudonym for G+. It's not really a big deal unless you use a personal account for Youtube.
That's what I was thinking. Well, I don't like the new comment section in terms of how it shows every single share/post about it on Google+, which aren't even "comments". And as for the whole thing where people haven't yet moved over to having a G+ page for their YouTube channel, we'll probably just have to wait until everybody does so, unless (hopefully but probably won't happen) YouTube/Google decides to reverse this whole thing. But I don't get why people are complaining about having to use their real name on YouTube; it has an option for them to use the same name they've been using on YouTube before, and create a separate page for it if you have a personal page already.
Why does youtube want this social media features if it's not a social media?
The comment section now looks like facebook and twitter now, but before it had a very simple, easy and userfriendly system.
Now I find it pretty complicated and it lost a few good features (or hid them?)
Now it will take a while until I got used to change in youtube again. Seriously, why can't this bullshit be optinal >:

Now this is just grasping for straws, how desperate to find negativities do you have to be to find a filter that lets you control what comments you see bad.

Besides this and comments not actually having a letter cap I don't really mind the new change.
I don't use google+ for anything and I like the fact that you can finally tell when people are typing to you, since before you had to actually enter the inbox after they removed the notification.

Google should just fire their entire design staff and let this guy handle things in the future. He knew what he was doing.
Heh, my account can't be made into a Google+ account. So now I don't have to worry about commenting on videos, because I can't anyway :D
I guess I won't ever comment on videos ever again. That's nice.
Also, one time it just made a g+ page for me and linked it to my everything behind my back. I only noticed it, because for some retarded as fuck reason, it added my youtube (and apparantly g+) name in every email I sent. I mean, I made some bad decisions in my life, naming my youtube account "judgeofdchaos" is one of them, but I can live with that. But for god's sake, it didn't have to put that in my email that I sent to my mother. That was terrible.
I'm just glad i never really gave a shit about comments
This is great, now we have the perfect weapon to defend ourselves from north korea!
I kind of like the idea of comment threads, it's a shame that nearly everything in this update was designed and implemented horribly.
So this shit forces me to have email notifications each time I get a new comment or reply.
no thanks google I don't want my phone to turn into a vibrator just by using the gmail app yet.

Can't? How?
my network i'm partnered with did send us a news letter last month about both google+ becoming mandatory soon, and "maybe you should check out tumblr and reddit :)". im sure they saw this coming and a tumblr page for my youtube page and a subreddit (even though i only have 4k subscribers) are both better places to read comments on and interact with my audience.
