Years ago he promised to stop the rape jokes I watched his latest agar io video and not even under 40 seconds he yells "RAPE"
So does spreading bullshit for no reason get you off or something?
It buys happiness and it allows happiness to persist. If you're worried about whether or not you have a next meal, then trust me, money buys happiness. And just because people lose perspective of their wealth and what that wealth affords them doesn't mean money doesn't buy happiness. It just means happiness isn't a simple concept that is black and white. But by no means does it not buy happiness.
But this is like saying not starving buys happiness or not being homeless buys happiness. Of course it does. Nobody wants to starve, be homeless or have no money. The problem with the statement that money buys happiness is that it makes the assumption that simply having more of it makes you happy no matter what in all cases, and that it also assumes statments like "Having lots of friends buys you happiness" or "Having lots of food buys you happiness" or "Having a massive house buys you happiness", to the point where it implies the higher your number is on any of those things the happier you will be. Those things sound like "Of course they will buy me happiness!" if you don't have any of those things at all, but once you meet the baseline for those needs such statements stop being true. Pretty much every study that has investigated this claim long term has proved it pretty wrong, and if you want to take a non-objective approach it makes sense too. Even if you take a massive materialistic view of the world, having a lot of money over your financial needs doesn't really add that much to your happiness level. The value of money starts plateauing dramatically. You always value something you don't have but need to survive. This is basic human survival. Achieving security is when you achieve all pillars of human survival comfortably, and having this security grants you happiness. When you already have what you need to survive comfortably, the value of that asset just plateaus. And this includes money. It is stuff that you experience, connections you make, values you live by and things you achieve that really builds a truly happy life. None of that stuff requires unachievable amounts of money to get (or any money at all), but a lot of people think it does, especially in western society.
I just see it as it's too fucking easy to use offensive humor or cursing to get your jokes across. It's not that I only dislike PDP for his usage of offensive humor, but I do dislike films and TV shows that uses it because it is immature and crazily easy to use it. Now I do like a good offensive joke sometimes, but usually there is some sort of message behind it. That's the kind of humor I enjoy, and obviously people like random toilet humor, which is why there is a dedicated Adam Sandler fanbase. I'm not part of the PDP or Sandler fanbase because their humor isn't for me.
I just view it as another kind of joke. But it's a kind of joke that requires extra effort to construct properly. You need to actually make the joke good, which can be hard when you're dealing with 'lazy' subject matter like rape, farts, or whatever. Basically,
I don't know when he got big (what video). But I'm assuming that he took advantage at whatever video/controversy put him on a large amount of people's radar. He knows his main audience he's targeting and it's working. There is no reason to hate on this guy. He's putting on a show for his viewers. But I guess the only type of hate he should be getting, is the type of hate someone would have toward a character in a show. It's just a character, he seems like a good person outside of the videos.
So does spreading bullshit for no reason get you off or something? I definitely don't hate the guy or the content he makes, but I can somewhat understand why people can dislike his day job. There are people who have to put up with a lot of shit just to make a decent living, but PDP makes millions from playing video games. I can kinda see why people don't take kindly to him. I have no ill will against the guy at all. It's actually pretty amazing that he got to where he is, but I can definitely see why people don't like him . I wish I could play a game 300 times over, act like an idiot on camera and make bank from it. He is seriously one of the luckiest people ever.

In fact I think it's quite shitty of someone to hate another person just because they have something they don't.
I never said its justifiable by any means. Having a grudge on someone in general is just awful. I'm just simply stating I can understand where the anger is coming from.
I didn't mean his latest literally for fuck sakes Let me get the video
I can't seem to find it again since I don't want to skim through his autistic videos but I'm not your fucking maid either

You want to be fed? Money. House? Water? Money. Health? More money. Basic functional education? Money. Entertainment? Money. Kids? Money. I get where you're going, but I'm not saying you need "Unacheivable" wealth(although, the discussion could be made that those things are slowly sliding out of the range of regularly achievable) to be happy, but you do need wealth period to have the security which allows you to have happiness. And generally speaking, the more you have of it up til a point, the better off you're going to be. There was a study saying sure, money doesn't buy happiness, after you have reached that point which IIRC was around 70,000$ a year or so.
and I don't care if he donates to charity, is super fucking famous, and that he is a swell guy by using his money for good. Those three things I mentioned aren't related to the main point my opinion has on him. It's like seeing Adam Sandler or Donald Trump giving a ton of their money to charity (which they have), but you still have the right to call them out for their mistakes despite their otherwise good intentions with their money. Seeing a wealthy person donating their money to charity nowadays is to be expected.
I get your point, but you could have used much better examples than people who are hated by basically everyone I know. For the sake of argument what about LouieCK. He makes a ton of sometimes awful jokes which don't always land well or appeal to people. He seems like a genuinely nice person. I'm not saying PDP's "jokes" of rape or whatever are actually funny, I don't think they are. You're using examples badly in order to prove your point, me thinks.
I think one of the reasons for his success is that he got in the scene really early. Like, there's a lot more competition now.
My little brother watches pewdiepie religiously It's gotten to the point where he starts parroting shit like blowjob jokes from pewdiepie's videos to other people while not realizing what it actually means :v:
You still understood the point I was attempting to create, and both Sandler and Trump's current situations are the only things I have in the top of my mind. I already stated that some people like Sandler's toilet humor (which is why Grown Ups 2, Jack & Jill; and several other Sandler films made a ton of money despite being critically panned), but perhaps it was a bad idea to use Trump as an example. But yeah, for other comedians, they create some sort of offensive humor, but there was always an underlying meaning or message behind it that they're getting across. PDP has none of that, which is why he is generally popular with the younger audiences because they only want the quick joke without any sort of message behind it.
I don't want you to think that I'm saying you're wrong. You're not because that's just your perspective on it. Was just poking at those specific examples which I don't think line up as well as they could. If anything, hating PDP for the jokes he makes is probably the most fair way to go about it. vs hating him for his money, success, or influence, all of which is mainly due to the system and the people who watch him, rather than him in the grand scheme of things.
The point he made about war is the reason we can rate zing
The wacky friend niche. A lot of the people who watch pewdiepie are kids who don't necessarily have enough social interactions or who don't know or have a wacky amusing friend to hang out with, so they watch a guy overreact on youtube because it fills that gap. Pewdiepie is basically a surrogate friend. At least that's what the post you mention said.
I don't believe that for a second. You know how many subscribers he has? Are you seriously going to suggest that all of those people or even half of those people are antisocial kids? You don't need to have a void in your soul to enjoy comedy - and that is what his videos are. You may not enjoy it, I certainly don't, but a lot of kids do and I think it's a lot more sensible to propose that kids by and large have shit taste in comedy than to pretend that everyone subscribed to Pewdiepie's channel is some loner weirdo who doesn't have any friends, just because some 4chan post said so.
did you know that if you're very rich, there's only so much you can buy? that's why humble rich people bring so much emphasis on it not being able to buy happiness.
did you know that if you're very rich, there's only so much you can buy?
what a fucking tragedy that must be
I can't seem to find it again since I don't want to skim through his autistic videos but I'm not your fucking maid either
How convenient.
I can't seem to find it again since I don't want to skim through his autistic videos but I'm not your fucking maid either
Oh you tell him man. You sure showed him that your point was valid.

These weren’t jokes. If you want an example of a rape joke, George Carlin, Louis CK, and Ricky Gervais all have them. But they’re jokes. They have a premise, a setup, and a punchline. Punishing a barrel for scaring you by having a dead pig rape it? What’s the joke? A monkey jumps on you in Silent Hill and it’s raping you? Why? How? Who’s the target of the joke? Is there one? You’re lucky I didn’t stumble over your Heavy Rain videos until after the “Adults React” video, in which the female protagonist believes she is actually in danger of sexual assault. Your comments? “You’re gonna get it in the pooper.” “It’s rapin’ time!” “Now we’re talking." (That last one was said when the assailants pushed her on a bed.) See, it’s not a joke. I don’t mean that in terms of "you can never joke about a heavy subject." I just mean, it isn’t one. You’re basically acting like a little kid, hoping to see sex - any sex - on the game screen (or at least as much as YouTube will let you show) and replacing the word "sex” for “rape” because rape seems more vulgar and less commonplace than “fucking”. You’re not realizing what the word actually means.
Yep, seems like he removed his agar video, or edited it out. From what I remember he was surrounded by three big blob thing and said it. If you need proof to be believe something you might as well work as a fucking detective lmao, because someone could have very well pointed that part out and PDP can just use YouTube editor to crop it out of the video.
The criticism of Pewdiepie's content is valid. But most of it comes from jealousy as a large number of people wished they could be successful doing something they love. And Pewdiepie's success on Youtube is incredible.
did you know that if you're very rich, there's only so much you can buy? that's why humble rich people bring so much emphasis on it not being able to buy happiness.
Found the rich guy.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. He's not awful, his audience is. Say anything bad about PewDiePie and his fans will shit all over you.
did you know that if you're very rich, there's only so much you can buy? that's why humble rich people bring so much emphasis on it not being able to buy happiness.
I dunno, theres a shitton of things I could buy that would make me happy. sure, it won't make me as happy as like, having a special someone, and that sorta thing, but buying what I want whenever I feel like it would make me pretty damn cheery. Especially since a lot of depression stems out of the workplace, in shitty jobs.
Too bad his gameplay videos and humor are shit, because he is actually a pretty great guy. I can't take his screaming, yelling and crappy jokes about rape.
that's because he appeals to kids, it's just how he does it really I (think) the rape jokes were old news and he stopped but I'm not sure
"Money doesn't buy happiness" Fuck that, 99% of my problems are from money. If I had money to fix those problems, that'd make me pretty fuckin happy. Tis always easy for rich people to be humble about cash
to a point it makes you happy through less stress but having money beyond that doesn't make you happy.
