This looks like it has more to do with the book Prey.
Fallout 5 will be called just Fallout and it will be about, i don't know, shooting chickens or something.
sci-fi chickens
oh there goes the automerge
And here is Ganerumo to blindly defend Bethesda.
They said Prey 2 wasn't up to their expectations, but shit like WET and Rouge Warrior was.
And wasn't the rumor that Zenimax wanted to buyout Human Head but they said no, so they just pretty much jerked them and the development of Prey 2 around.
Jeez, why do I keep seeing you following him around the forum? Did he shit in your cereal or something?
Jeez, why do I keep seeing you following him around the forum? Did he shit in your cereal or something?
How am I following him around? I post in the Fallout thread, and that's the only one I can think of.
If anything I do my best to avoid him.
And besides, I posted in here first. :smug:
lmao people saying this has no connection to the first one
its not confirmed to be a reboot it has aliens on a fucking ship it has a chinese main character for all we fucking know its gonna be another doom where people cry until the day of the release of the game
also what the fuck people have been crying for a good story driven system-shock like fps since bioshock 1 came out and now that this is up you guys are like waah i dont get to be space dandy in a game which by concept had a scope that was literally unachievable on any budget ever conceived
[editline]13th June 2016[/editline]
im literally angry that there is a single good and interesting trailer in this whole e3 and people get mad at it what the christ people

UnidentifiedFlyingTard's a rancid shitposter who can't form proper arguments so he just resorts to namecalling and ironic funny ratings. I just gave up on him and the only posts I see from him are through quotes.
Just ignore him and move on, he'll go away when he realizes that nobody cares what he has to say due to how unbearably toxic he's being.
[editline]a[/editline]
Lol richyz getting banned on the WAYT discord for flaming me so he goes here to rate me dumb, are these people ten years old
Wow, you call that generic ? Then what is Dishonored, just an Assassins Creed rip-off ?
What in the fuck does Dishonored and AssCreed have to do with anything?
Guy is in space shooting aliens in a place hiding ~secrets~. Are you telling me I didn't just describe the majority of sci-fi shooters?
Prey 2 was supposedly a fucking mess in development and was unsalvageable. Glad they went for something new rather than waste time on something they couldn't save.
"new"
Looks generic as fuck.

I like how you complain about me calling people names (which I don't), so then you result to name calling.
classy.

yeah you did but this one looks like its heavily centered around intelligent self-contained personal horror, kinda like the early silent hill games
"new"

When's the last time you've seen a science fiction game that revolves around paradoxical perception of time and space ? Because the last two games I remember are SOMA and the first Prey.

I don't know mate, you two seem to butt heads all around the place. Anyway, I'll stop being off topic.
I too wanted the bounty hunting game, but all we had was a cgi trailer and a highly scripted gameplay trailer. And I really didn't care for the Native American part in Pray 1. And the stuff shown here looks interesting. But who knows, could be shit, could be good.

I guess I'm just disappointed that we aren't getting Prey 2. I'm willing to give it a shot, but so far this trailer does nothing for me.
In games where you can go bounty hunting, the bounty hunting is always the least interesting part.
It's just not an interesting mechanic due to how repetitive it gets over time and building a whole game around it would have been stupid.
That's the problem they probably didn't think it out properly.
A good bounty game is where every bounty is drastically different in diffculty and what challenges you face. Having a world full of many alien races entertains the possibility of having all kinds of variables to work with and different methods of capture.

Info leaked out years back that Bethesda scrapped the project multiple times and finally instructed Arkane to reboot it into a system shock style game. Obviously, that info turned out to be true.
Man this seriously coulda been that space bounty hunter shit that I've always wanted.
If they just called it something else no one would be complaining.

Which only really works in a linear environment with very few bounties to begin with. Hitman works for that reason, if it was an action oriented shooter with also some contracts it wouldn't work, it's why Absolution turned out to be shit.
[editline]13th June 2016[/editline]
They're giving more information at the moment on stream.
It's a linear game where you can backtrack, ala system shock or bioshock. Not open world or mission based.
Aliens gonna be described more at quakecon.
You can choose your character's gender.
They could have called this something other than Prey. Prey isn't remember by a whole lot of people either.
They could have called this something other than Prey. Prey isn't remember by a whole lot of people either.
Didn't people say the exact same thing about Prey 2 when it was first shown ?
Hell, people said the exact same thing about Doom last I remember.
"It's not a true sequel" is something people have been saying about games since fucking Zelda 2.

Doom revolutionized the industry, Prey was a mediocre shooter with some decent ideas not explored to their full potential in an era where wacky sci-fi FPS games were everywhere.
Nooo what they do :goodjob:
Where my portals and my upside down wall !?!?!??!!1
I loved to much this stuff that why I wanted alot a Prey 2 now it's a totally mess up ... :godzing:
but about the engine is still under Id engine ??
biggest thing about prey was the whacky shit they did with scale and walking on walls
[t]http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/images/prey_wallwalk.jpg[/t]
it was fucking WILD
oh man, playing that shit with the wall walking. that was so hype. It was so fun. it's something that works insanely well in a shooter and yet you literally never see it, like, ever. But fuck me, if they don't add that in some form, I'm not sure I can appreciate this. Bounty hunting or not.

That's not my point. People just say the exact same thing every time a sequel comes out. "It's not a true sequel" or "it could be called anything and it'd be fine" are something that pops up nearly every single time a sequel's out. It means nothing anymore.

Yep it's what I'm saying below :) It's was fuking amazing
I want so much now to do this in front of that -->:godzing:
I got almost an eyergasm when I see it 1st time :)
Doom 3 got the same engine
prey 2 had direct connections to 1, the airplane that is torn out of the sky and put into the sphere is the one the mc of p2 would be on at the start of the game, and the mc of 1 would be a supporting character in 2 giving insight on the lore of whats been going on
"Prey 2 had Tommy and... That's really all it had. Human Head for a while made it a point that they didn't want to share much with the original. Cheever is backpedaling now and claiming a lot of bullshit because he's all sour grapes about it. And currently, the new game shares more a style with the first game than the sequel ever could."
anon on /v/ just now

Yeah but this literally isn't related to the first game at all. It's a total reboot so it really doesn't need to use the Prey name.

when it comes to doom, you have to really hold it up to a high standard compared to anything else. Same goes for Half life, or Wolfenstein. When a new one comes out, people are cynical of it because they have to.
Doom is an insanely special case. You absolutely CANNOT fuck that game up. 22 years later and doom 1 is still a game that is heavily played. Fans of the game hold it to the highest possible standard.
though I do agree, people say a lot of shit, and then they go "oh that's actually good... well then". That or they were right to be cynical of something, and it ended up missing the point of the previous game(s)

They said that the new prey will have a lot of weird shit, aliens who can shapeshift and zero-G environments, so gravitational nonsense isn't out of the question.

It loses its logic when it's applied to literally anything that gets a sequel. Sure people being protective of Doom makes sense but then why are people so protective of a franchise that literally never had an achieved sequel that actually came out ?

We're going to have to wait and see about that. Prey 1's story was barely described until the game came out and even when you play it it'd take you hours to get to the actual twist.
Can't really judge the links or lack thereof based on a CGI trailer.
