I'd pay 60 dollars for (insert Todd phrase here) and (insert Todd phrase here)
I was really holding out hope that they wouldn't expand on the android stuff from fallout 3, but I guess it's time to just throw in the towel and accept it for what it's going to be... Sims: Wasteland Edition!
I don't even remotely understand how androids = the sims
To be honest I don't understand what people are hyped about in f4, anything bethesda is capable of doing is having a few neat ideas and some cool quests. To me personally it looks like they don't understand what fallout even is. While the original games did have dark humor it was all done with good writing via dialogues or flavor text on the hud and bethesda can't write so they compensate with bearsuits because lulrandom to appeal to children who have only played f3. It just looks like they went through a checklist of what the game should have for it to be like fallout but they don't know why.
The most important thing they probably could have done with the voice actors, but probably didn't, is utilize them for HUD flavor text. So in Fallout 1 and 2, you had the little text box on the HUD that was intended to give you an idea as to what was really going on, but it also served a secondary function: To bridge the gap between the player, and the player character. You, as the player, are not privy to the information available to the player character, so it could make mention of things like history or smells or any number of other concepts that are simply lost on the player. With a voice actor, you could theoretically have them talk to themselves on occasion to bridge that gap. Things like "smells like blood" or "wind coming from that corridor" or "I remember this street, it used to be how I got to work" or "before the fall this item was used for....". Things that aren't about characterization, so they don't impact where you want to go in terms of roleplay, but are purely informational so you can better understand and immerse yourself in the world. Honestly, I'd really just prefer a text box on the HUD, but I understand many people have a severe aversion to additional HUD items.
Knowing the game has androids, the plot twist is definitely that you're an android. Wouldn't expect more than that from Bethesda.
It looks fucking great, the weekend can't blow over soon enough [sp] that lipsync tho [/sp]
We watching the same trailer? The game looks like complete garbage. It looks like fallout 3 with some minor improvements. I can't believe the shit that bathesda gets away with. Indie games look better that this shit. That one blue house in the trailer was literally made of 20 polygons... [editline]5th November 2015[/editline] I mean for fucks sake, just look at these fuckin cardboard boxes: [t]https://www.anony.ws/i/2015/11/03/2015-11-02_00005.jpg[/t] The roofs are literally two fuckin rectangles. [editline]5th November 2015[/editline] Also, are they really calling those 3 neon bars a hud?
I mean yeah, roof tops are typically two slanted rectangles.
I don't even remotely understand how androids = the sims
I meant the whole build your house in the wasteland thing. Looking back on my post yea, I should have clarified that.
Also, are they really calling those 3 neon bars a hud?
I'd rather have a few neon bars as a hud than a bulky hud that takes half the screen.
I mean yeah, roof tops are typically two slanted rectangles.
In 2004 maybe. Those roofs are just perfectly flat surfaces with some shitty textures. They don't even have normal mapping for fucks sake. This is how you do a roof: [t]http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/witcher/images/c/c2/Downwarren.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150515210606[/t] [t]http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/292030/ss_ed23139c916fdb9f6dd23b2a6a01d0fbd2dd1a4f.1920x1080.jpg?t=1444689672[/t] You see those perfectly flat roofs? /s Let's forget about graphics and shitty animations for a sec. I'm genuinely baffled by all the hype for fallout 4. Bathesda is absolute wank at story telling, their worlds are always shallow and uninteresting and their games are always buggy as fuck. Like what exactly are you guys excited about?
For some reason, I am not in the least bit excited. Usually I am, but not for this, I don't know why. There is just something about it. [editline]a[/editline] My best explanation is that.. it doesn't offer much new. After awhile, the same old Bethesda formula just doesn't cut it. Building your own settlement, customizing weapons is fine and all, but can somebody give me anything that is like, really new and exciting?
For some reason, I am not in the least bit excited. Usually I am, but not for this, I don't know why. There is just something about it.
There has been a concerning lack of hype train on bethesda's end. Whether that is because they no longer feel the need to pour ungodly sums of money into advertisement or because they are trying to minimize the negative impact the title will have, I'm not sure.

As if we need another game that needed to be compared to the gift from god that is The Witcher 3 apparently. You know, it's pretty fucking unfair to compare a roof made out hay or whatever the fuck it is to a more modern day one.

I lived near Boston. We didn't have many thatch rooves.
I'm just praying that they did something interesting with the gameplay, cause there's zero chance that they're going to be anywhere near as strong as Obsidian in the story department, NV blew FO3 out of the water in that regard. Here's to hoping that F4 is simply buckets of fun with passable writing.

I'm sure it will be given 10/10's and massive player-base like usual, but I dunno, the trailers and game-play leave a lot to be desired. [editline]a[/editline] There is quite a rabid fanbase for fallout I see, even in the face of obvious problems. (And saying that in-front in a fallout thread isn't smart either!)
I think it's fine for the roofs to be flat considering that they're roofs for houses in 50s suburbs and not huts in the middle of the wilds in medieval times.

Both of them are open world RPG's that came (are going to come) out in 2015 and witcher 3 is the gold standard of open world rpgs at the moment. Whether you like it or not, every single open world rpg is going to get compared to W3 because of how good it was. If you're going to have the audacity to ask 70 bucks for the game + 30 bucks for the season pass, then it better be at least as good as the last major RPG (w3).

What else can you really do with them besides adding some gutters?
I think it's fine for the roofs to be flat considering that they're roofs for houses in 50s suburbs and not huts in the middle of the wilds in medieval times.
What are you talking about?? Medieval huts are totally the same as 50's houses! I mean just look at all the similarities!... they're house shaped and and made of wood and stuff... I'd list more but have to go make out with my copy of Witcher 3.

Bethesda's games aren't stellar in most regards, but they're charming. You don't need high end graphics (Fallout 4 holds up really well from what I've seen and the art direction saves it) to make a game good nor do you need the best writers there is, you just need to make it likable and enjoyable enough to hold the player's attention for a while. Also I didn't like The Witcher 3 and dropped it after about 20 hours of game time (had to restart relatively early). I guess the beautiful hay roofs weren't enough to keep me interested.

[editline]a[/editline] It's not like hes going "THIS GAME SUCKS BECAUSE IT'S ROOFS AREN'T GOOD", hes saying that there wasn't a whole lot of detail put into the world itself. Fallout is definitely a gameplay based game, so it can be excused, but this combined with the lackluster features list just kind of makes me (and others I am sure) go.. "meh."

Like, we get F4 doesn't look as good as W3 and that we can't count each individual skin cell on our character but that doesn't really bother a good portion of us I think. I personally really just care if the game is fun to play. It looking nice is a bonus imo, plus I'm not expecting miracles from Bethesda anyway although I won't deny it'd be nice... It's not a deal breaker in other words I suppose.

Video game developers should literally program and design their games following the real life creation process of each thing showed in their game just to please aydin690 and his unending fetish for roofs.
