So this will lead into Kong vs Godzilla right? everything is a cinematic universe now.

Obviously. You can even study it in certain colleges. No surprise, it prints money for Marvel.
Tell me how a maybe 100ft Gorilla is going to stand a chance against the current Godzilla.
Also this movie has a shit ton of great actors in it. I'm hopeful.

I hope current Japan Godzilla fights current American Godzilla at some point.
I'm sure it'll be a fairer fight then last time:
I mean if there's one insane comedic relief character who turns out to be both informative and insane, then I'm okay with that in a "serious" movie.
I could never really take any monster film seriously
Except Slither
fuck that shit is scary
the one creature feature youre not supposed to take seriously you take seriously lol
To me the comedy aspect of Slither outshines the horror tbh. Fucking love this shit.

Does facepunch have a "no quips allowed" policy? There's a thing called humor and can be found in pretty much in every action and monster movie since the 60's. Even the original King Kong wasn't taken too seriously.
Those skull crawlers look genuinely terrifying.
the skull crawlers and kong both have an incredible sense of scale in this movie it seems. they look absolutely terrifying. and even if they play it tongue and cheek, i think it still has the potential to be terrifying as well, as long as characters aren't quipping when they're on screen. as long as they balance the comedy and action well, i think it'll be a real hoot.
Those Skull Crawlers remind me a fuck ton of Dodongos from the LoZ universe.
my main nigga john c reilly is finally doing serious roles
what do you mean "finally"?
he was in The Perfect Storm
Holy Shit! This version of King Kong is 10 times bigger than the one in peter jackson's King Kong or even the original!

To be honest, LegendaryGoji probably would struggle against ShinGoji (who's 10 meters taller by the way) if the latter went full aggro.[sp]Just ask the government officials and US bombers whom got fucked over with the spine laser spam.[/sp]
also:[sp]Zilla gets too much shit just for being in a mediocre movie imo[/sp]
I just ordered peter jacksons king kong for the xbox 360 after watching this. One of my best ps2 games as a kid, excited to play it again
one of the few examples of good game/movie tie in.

The problem is when quips become the only source of comedy. It's getting easy to see the seams. It's getting really predictable.

To be fair, Godzilla was like, the OG cinematic universe.

Mothra and Rodan anyone?
[editline]November 17th, 2016[/editline]
That's only two examples, here's the rest: Varan the Unbelievable, Atragon, Frankenstein Conquers the World, The War of the Gargantuas, Destroy All Monsters which linked all the aforementioned films together, Space Amoeba, and probably even more examples I'm forgetting.
It even leaks into the Millennium era only 46 years later somewhat despite the multitude of different continuities from the individual films themselves (i.e: in Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, the Meganulon from Rodan return, and in Tokyo S.O.S, Kamoeba from Space Amoeba has its desecrated corpse found deserted on a beach).
Safe to say that Toho were one of the first to pioneer such a concept before Marvel took helm, although its arguable whether or not they realized what they had in their hands until much later.
What if the trailer has all the fun parts in to make it look like a fun-flick but when you actually see it it turns out to be quite serious?
Wouldn't be the first time.
Almost every action movie does this these days. Don't get why people in this thread are so retarded.
one can only hope the movie about the big monkey will have the awareness to not take itself too seriously.
FPS shot was jarring but aside from that minor issue i'm still hyped for this.

I mean, Alien was quite light hearted + 'funny' until it wasn't.
I'm so excited to see John C. Reilly up in this. Looks like it'll be a fun movie.
i blame marvel for the (sometimes unecessary) humor in action movies
i blame marvel for the (sometimes unecessary) humor in action movies
Blame Die Hard then.
i blame marvel for the (sometimes unecessary) humor in action movies
I mean, if you completely forgot about virtually everything made in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, then sure blame the MCU. v:v:v

The problem many people have is that these days every film is filled with irreverent, quippy characters. It's almost like you're not allowed to take anything seriously any more.
That said I think the trailer was pretty dope.
God it looks so bad
