Maybe he had a shit night
Maybe his boss is nagging on him for not busting enough people
Maybe he has a short fuse and didn't expect him to pull the "need a warrent" card
In the end all he did was blow up and cuss at him loudly. So I'm not gonna sit here and say he should lose his job. So he yelled at him. Boo-fucking-hoo.
Maybe his boss is nagging on him for not busting enough people
They don't actually do that.

I think we're more angry about you essentially saying that the constitution is useless.
Apparently he kept his licence? Can he do that? He seemed to imply he'd throw it out the window as he left or something.

He threw it on the ground right before he walked back to the car. The guy was asking because you aren't supposed to step out of the car unless told to do so because it could look like a threatening action. He didn't want to just get out of the car because he probably didn't want to give the already enraged cop a reason to beat the shit out of him.

If any one of those causes an outburst like that you're not cut out for police work.

What good has that piece of paper done us in the 21st century?
Or even the end of the 20th

Made that cop fuck right off didn't it?

If you don't like your rights that's all well and good, feel free to waive them, but don't go around saying other people don't deserve them just because you don't understand why a cop shouldn't be allowed to search anyone's anything whenever he wants.

Unless you interview the guy about it you shouldn't judge him.

Freedom of speech and the protection from illegal search and seizure? I like those
You shouldn't have to interview anyone, it's a video of a man who gets paid to be a law enforcer acting like a huge tool because someone used the fourth amendment
Freedom of speech and the protection from illegal search and seizure? I like those
There are things you cannot say.
There's also the FCC
They can strip you naked before letting you on an airplain and perform a full body search

I honestly have no response to this.

Yeah I understood that much. I didn't realise he'd dropped it next to the drivers door. The civilian in the car handled it pretty well though, he seemed to understand the rights and boundaries.
I feel sorry from American law enforcement though. I walked up to a sheriffs car once when I was on holiday in the US and knocked on the window to ask for directions, the poor guy inside fucking freaked out and thought I was about to blow him away or something.

"When ever he wants" is different, in this scenario he had a very good chance of busting the dude for illegal drugs
There are things you cannot say.
(There actually isn't.)

Airport security doesn't have the cleanest record when it comes to invasion of privacy.

Why would I need to do that? We have a video here of a police officer who appears calm and reasonable at first, then flips the fuck out at a completely innocuous statement that should not upset any sensible police officer. I don't need to know his life story to know that if he's going to freak out like this for no reason, he shouldn't be a cop.
Not to mention, berating an officer is a crime, but the officer called the guy all sorts of obscene things just for exercising a right.
I honestly have no response to this.
Good, because it would only cause anxiety to anyone without a biased "FUCK DA POLICE" attitude

We have a video of an officer losing his temper. That's all we have.

And how did you come to that conclusion? Just because the man has been charged with drug possession in the past doesn't mean they're in his car right now and there is no indicator that they are. That's why we have probable cause. If there was any readily apparently and reasonable suspicion that there were drugs in the car right now the officer could have searched it. I've never touched drugs in my life but if a cop pulled me over and asked to search my car you can be sure as shit he wouldn't be doing it without a warrant.
If a cop throws a temper tantrum at learning he has to work within the bounds of an entirely reasonable law, he should absolutely not be a cop.
How presumptuous of you. I respect the police. They put their lives on the line every day so that people can live some semblance of a normal life.
I do not, however, respect people who think little of civil rights.
(I'm also against recreational drug use of any kind.)
I don't think anyone here has a "fuck da police" attitude. He's just using his rights. I'm not one to judge a book by it's cover, and I know there are good cops and bad cops and just average cops. This guy seemed like a good cop up until he acted like a huge tool on the job because someone used their rights.
(I'm also against recreational drug use of any kind.)
I think people should be able to do what ever the fuck they want as long as it doesn't harm anyone else.
And enforcing anti drug laws in this nation is extremely ironic and pointless at the same time.
And yet apparently they shouldn't have rights.
I don't know where the rest of my post went

Let me re-wright it then Mo hang in there

But this guy should be fired because some things make him really angry?
I do not, however, respect people who think little of civil rights.]
I think little of them because no politician cares about them. If you get what I mean
But this guy should be fired because some things make him really angry?
I never said anything about firing him. At most, he deserves a couple hours in an anger management group to see if there's a deeper issue here.
I never said anything about firing him.
I did. If there's one thing a police officer needs it's a level head and this guy doesn't have one.
[editline]2nd September 2011[/editline]
This outburst was caused by something as trivial as the officer being told he can't search without a warrant. To the average person, this is "your daughter is a whore" levels of cool-losing. If he gets this mad at THAT, I highly doubt he's going to be perfectly calm and collected when things go even less his way.
If there's one thing a police officer needs it's a level head and this guy doesn't have one.
That's true. If there's a big issue behind his anger, he definitely needs to get through it ASAP. If not, he still needs help controlling it.

Alright then fair enough
Though think the people in this thread are over-reacting, especially JohnnyMo

You are definitely under reacting.
A police officer deals with people like this all day every day, and is in a position of authority where he is supposed to be providing a service to the community. This guy is a doing a disservice to the community and completely lost his cool on a routine traffic stop of a person who was pleasant and cooperative and you're saying we shouldn't be so quick to judge? If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.
[editline]2nd September 2011[/editline]
Based on the level of tantruming in the video I'd give a 13-year-old a police job before this guy.

I think there were other elements at play here, he probably doesn't do this all the time.

No I should hope not or he should have been fired long before now, when he should be fired anyway, or heavily reprimanded at an absolute minimum. People like this are the reason "FUCK THE POLICE" type punk kids exist.

Making a bad decision on the job a few times is one thing, but this is a complete lack of self-control I'd expect from a middle schooler.
