I really wish Gunpei Yokoi were still around.
Sakamoto may have created Metroid, but Yokoi kept that idiot on a leash and made sure the series evolved into something great. Yokoi was possibly some of the greatest talent Nintendo ever had on their team, and they lost him to a stupid fucking car crash...

There has only [I]been[/I] one Metroid game since Prime 3. It was Other M. Don't condemn the entire franchise to despair just because of Sakamoto fucking a single game up.

I was leaning on the golden age, however the toy line was implied in addition as well as Merida being converted to a different shape and bow removed.

I guess I am particularly prone to complaining because Metroid Prime was the game that got me into video games. It changed my life. Seeing the relative lack of games besides Other M has been really sad..

Super Metroid is the best Metroid game. After that, Metroid 2 on the gameboy. Metroid Fusion and the Metroid 1 remake are also pretty good.
The 3D Metroid games are all 'Meh' at best.

I still consider Fusion canon, I thought the story there was rather interesting. Chronologically, the events in Fusion are also the latest events to happen in the series. Seemed to me like it could open the way for an interesting sequel with Samus as a renegade working against a Federation that wants her silenced.
Other M, I just don't even want to believe that was a real thing. I consider the old manga to be canon moreso than I'll ever acknowledge that the events in Other M actually happened.
the fortunate thing is, i just can't accept other m as canon not because i don't want to, but primarily because so many of its plot points disregard and contradict canon from the rest of the series that it has to be like an alternate universe spinoff to be considered seriously

other m is so poorly written not only does it contradict every single piece of Metroid canon ever released, near the end it contradicts itself.
There's no way to rationalize it in any way or try to accept it into canon, it's that broken. There's no way it can even fit into anything, or have anything try to build off of it.
