- Anti-feminism won't do anything for male suicide, homelessness, conscription, or fighting gender roles
- Affirmative action is to give minorities a fairer chance at things, men aren't a minority (unless you are a man who is also a minority)
- Male judges have a bias toward the mother. 80% of judges are men. In sentencing, where women usually get off lighter, women actually receive harsher judgments from female judges than from male judges.
It may shock everyone to find out that I am, in fact, a man and as such am concerned about issues affecting men
the MRM isn't gonna do shit for any of them and seeks only to be detrimental to other movements it deems to be in competition with them (feminism, lgbt rights, etc)
What this guy's saying.
I think it's really unfortunate that many people understand feminism as a radical, militant ideology that has some sort of unjust agenda against men. Especially here (Norway), classifying oneself as a "feminist" is regarded as something a tad extreme. "You're a straight, male feminist? That's crazy! Women are just potential sexual objects to you, why do you care if they're being subjected to misogyny?"
Note that this, naturally, goes the other way as well. This video portrays a very clear issue:

The problem I'm having with a lot of the MRM is that they see this and think "A-ha! It's the men that are being oppressed, NOT the women! Feminist scum, they'll get what's coming to them." Like it's some kind of black and white conflict ripped out of a Hollywood action script.
Bottom line; I think the problem lies within people taking offense from the fact that it's called feminism, and not "masculinism" or whatever. But that's not the point, clearly the term is a result from a time of dire discrimination. People need to get over this, and as Zeke said - being an anti-feminist won't solve anything.

i saw something like this on a night out, it was kinda harrowing. this guy got smashed over the head with a glass or bottle by a girl and fell to the floor with this awful scream. the girl walked away but she only got about 20m when i suspect the adrenaline wore off a bit and she thought "jesus i just bottled a guy" so she turned to go back. when she got to him, the guy's shock must have worn off cos he got up and decked this girl right there before she could say a word
before the guy hit the girl, not a single person had taken any notice. people were looking over but mostly people were carrying on moving and not getting involved. the moment he lay a hand on her there were blokes stopping their cars in the middle of the road and running over to get involved. scary stuff
the issue with this though is that idiot mrm guys will use this as an excuse to say "seee!! men are oppressed!" when really there's nothing positive for women in this situation either because it's just reasserting that women are weak and need to be protected. yeh that girl in this situation got away with it by the looks of things because men stepped in to help the wrong person, but it wasn't a victory for women in general

Exactly! In many people's eyes horrible situations like that are read as fights in the zealous light of gender issues, when in reality it's probably just two shitfaced people punching eachother out (like with any other 'same sex brawl').

- Farrell on the 3% of cases of incest involving children that are good
[editline]3rd April 2013[/editline]
- Farrell on how we should be caressing the genitals of our children to promote healthy sexual expression
I don't think he meant there genitals when he said that, infact i think you misinterpreted it, also can you please link to where you got those snipets from.
Because it has nothing to do with the video. You are just prejudiced right after you read the first 2 words. Saying that men don't have any issues simply based on their gender is like saying that women don't have any issues simply based on their gender. But you would know it if you watched the video.
Let me quote something from wikipedia about Warren Farrel:
"Warren Thomas Farrell (born June 26, 1943) is an American educator, activist and author of seven books on men's and women's issues.
He came to prominence in the 1970s as one of the leading male thinkers[2] championing the cause of second wave feminism, and serving on the New York City Board of the National Organization of Women (NOW). However, when NOW took policy positions that Farrell regarded as anti-male and anti-father, he continued supporting the expansion of women’s options[3] while adding what he felt was missing about boys, men and fathers. He is now recognized as one of the most important figures in the modern men's movement."

This is the video that was the main topic of discussion:

Silencing the "opposition" is not a way to trying to find a solution for the issues of both men and women.
I'd be very interested in reading it because we definitely need some more female judges.

I have a really hard time linking to things on Google Books so find your way to page 112 of "How Do Judges Decide?: The Search for Fairness and Justice in Punishment" by Cassia Spohn.
Here's a screenshot from the page:

If a mod wants me to remove that because of possibly copyright infringement I'll do so.
