I think it's a bit bad that his dad is letting his son play video-games at three years old. I'm going to try and get my son or daughter doing other things to keep them occupied. Next thing you know, he's gonna become another basement dweller.
And admit it, we all went through that stage once. Be it whilst playing WoW (bad days for me. Was fourteen at the time so I didn't miss out on much) or whatever.
What the f- He plays better than me...
You know you're a gamer when you're 3 years old and you can play Mirrors Edge and Portal and be above decent.
You've got to remember that he's probably played around it and through it many many times, otherwise he would have no idea what he's doing.
Honestly I don't see what's to be worked up about if he shoots someone in a videogame. He's 3 years old, he doesn't understand the concept of death. He's shooting 'bad guys' anyway, tell him that's the only time he'd be able to do it in life.
Look at him play though. His hand eye coordination is incredible for a 3 year old. And he solved the Portal puzzles without missing a beat. He's clearly very intelligent (at least logically), and the fact that he's already at adult standards of controlling the game is very impressive. He's probably not thinking about when he kills people, when I was about his age (maybe a bit older) and started gaming I never thought "Hey, I just killed Robotnic's robots", I was too busy trying to keep going.

Dropping one pistol for another, taking out a guard on his first try, placing portals while he dived toward them. Seems like he knows what he's doing to me.
All i had when I was 3 was Counter Strike Source. Portal/Mirrors Edge didn't even come out then. That kid is gonna live a life of a gamer guys.
I was playing unreal when I was one... Fun times...
Needless to say I got addicted to it and thats how I get here today :v:
All i had when I was 3 was Counter Strike Source.
So you're 9?

My point is he could have practiced the same parts for hours and hours before he got to that. He isn't just skillful, he probably knows everything by heart.
That kid is very smart.

Isn't that how everyone learns how to do something?
Just proves games are too casual-friendly nowadays.
Fuck, they're too baby-friendly.
They should get that kid a smaller mouse, he would be even more awesome then :byodood:
I thought his name was "Fenway" and I got all excited because I'm from Boston and Fenway Park.....
Oh well, he's pretty good at Portal. Let's give him a headset and plant him in a full server on CS:S just for laughs.
Seeing a three year old laughing at a screen that shows people getting shot is something I find a little
unsetteling. At that age, you cant put things like that in proper context. I mean, if you grow up seeing
murder at a young age, I don't know. I was first allowed to playi 'violent' games at the age of 10 and I
know that I wouldn't have understood it any earlier, but at three... Jeez, that's way too young. I want my
kids to slowly learn all about life bit by bit like I did, and not start with the most gruesome parts of it.
I mean, many of you might not understand my point, but in that age when you have to worry about a family
not just yourself and your computer, you start to see things differendly. And 'gun + person = success' is not
a thing I teach a toddler and feel good about. Some of the more dense people might say that there is a clear differene between games and reallity, bit we are talking toddlers minds here.
You turn into Batman.
When I was three the only video game I had was super mario world
I just hope the don't find /b/ :ohdear:
I didn't like how he shoots people at the age of 3. It's harmless now but it may make him think that shooting people is just fine, same thing about running and jumping from rooftops.
Playing Portal at that age would probably make him a genius though, it must be developing his brain really really good, let's hope won't waste it by jumping from his roof.

I can guarantee that playing video games won't cause you to become a violent murdurer
I liked Mirror's Edge better on the 360 than on PC.
And when I was 3, all I had was Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario.

But Portal might develop his imagination, and god forbid we let our kids have those these days. Besides, the final test chamber could be downright traumatizing for him.
Anyone remember hitting each other with sticks as a kid? That was real violence. Kids aren't allowed to do that anymore.

counter strike source came out in 2004 brah

The first 6 years of our lives are the most determining for our subconscious. What happens then can determine pretty much our personality. Playing a video game where you shoot people and jump over rooftops in these years can make you subconsciously think that it's fine later on, when you don't even know it because it's subconsciously.

I didn't say anything bad about Portal, and that flame thing really could be traumatizing if he's playing it alone or something, forget about that. I remember playing *Edit Alone in the Dark* (got them confused) by the age of 6 with some other kids too, that shit was SCARY, I can still remember a duck-like monster or something.
Isn't that how everyone learns how to do something?
Not like that, you wouldn't play through the same part of Mirror's Edge dozens of times would you? You'd play it once or twice, three times at most if you can't get past a part, and then never come back to it.
Now that's what I call kid that don't fuck around when playing games
I just hope the don't find /b/ :ohdear:
:ohdear:
I remember playing Command & Conquer, DOOM, and Mortal Kombat on the 64 when I was about his age.
This kid is a god amongst us all
Awwwwwwww.
He stops to drink his juice.
Ok, that's pretty damn cute. GG kid.
I can only play Mirror's Edge if I take anti-nausea pills. :C
[editline]12:26PM[/editline]
Also wtf, I would never have guessed that the footage was taken with an iPhone 4.
I love how he says "Weeeeeeeeeeeh" when playing at Portal.
D'awwwww :3:
I remember I started playing games when I was 4... like Tomb Raider and Doom. Vaguely, but I remember it. I always had some interest in video games. Like not about a specific video game, but the concept of it, and what was making it work. Apparently I always wanted to make a video game when I grew up.
Now I'm 16, I've modded HL2 for about 2 years now, I've learned the basics of 3d modeling when I was in 4th grade, and I'm leading a mod team with the UDK (something I'm hoping we can eventually sell). I really never thought back to my childhood, but this video took me way back. Now I realized "Holy shit, I'm doing exactly what I wanted to do when I was a kid."
