This is probably my favorite music video to come out in years, the art style and symbolism are absolutely spot on, I really want to see more of these characters in the future. Major props to your friend, I hope this video's popularity opens up more opportunities for them.
Okay this is kinda scary. A animated music video is creating a fandom so quickly. Plus the song for some reason being catchy as fuck. I think we just found the next big thing here.
Hey if FN@F got a fandom since pretty much day one why not this.
Oh man, found this on one of the other animator's tumblr (Blake Hudson)

Honestly I don't understand how a 4 minute video could have a fandom. It's a fantastic video and I love watching it time to time but... there's not a lot to discuss outside the original "what is going on"
You'd be surprised what people spend their time on
Just saying fanart I get that's awesome. But... like, what else could you do? There's not much else to go on.
I just realized, in the scene with the paintings you can see the wrestler from Rhythm Heaven, the Priest from the original music video, and what I am assuming to be Miles Edgeworth from the Ace Attorney games and what looks to be rarity from MLP. There's so many small things that this animator put in this video.
EDIT: I also just realized I'm really fucking late.

O noticed rarity my first time watching :v

I don't wanna sound too harsh on the FN@F fandom but compare that game to this video. Among other things this video has a simple artstyle, characters with personalities and an interesting story with enough room for some fanfictions. FN@F had none of that and it still got a fandom extremely quick that not only made fanart but also music, RP blogs and fanfictions.
The internet can be weird sometimes but if this fandom actually blew up it wouldn't surprise me.
Has anyone made the comparison between the artstyle of the music video and the animated series "Panty and Stocking"?

Especially if there's another music video featuring the same characters, I'd think.

I don't think they're that similar. I actually thought it was from an existing cartoon/franchise when I first started seeing avatars and art of it, like maybe Gravity Falls or something.

The art style is more like MLP than anything
The art style is more like MLP than anything
MLP has thick colored outlines, not thin black lines. Considering his background, though, I wouldn't be surprised if he was inspired by it, among other things.

The outlines aren't like it sure but everything else about it is similar
especially the mouths
It's not a bad thing by any means, but it bears way more resemblence to MLP than it does Panty and Stocking

They both look Flash animated, but I wouldn't really call them that similar either.
Shit, I'm still looking for what I thought the style looked like at first.

I'm not saying it's super similar, but I see more resemblance to MLP than Panty and Stocking.
You can tell the roots of his animation style came from his MLP fan videos, but then for this animation, he added his own touches to make it more unique.
Not going to lie but I teared up while watching this.

You realize that Panty and Stocking was created in Flash AND was inspired by American cartoons right? Not a surprise that they'd have some similarities in style.

Pretty sure it was traditionally animated, though you're right about the Western inspiration. It was deliberately meant to evoke the Powerpuff Girls style.

It had segments done in flash as well as traditional ones I'm pretty sure
they even made an OVA with just the shitty flash animation alone

Oh right, I remember that :v:

Anyway, this video (the music video, not this silly P&S one) makes me want to get back into Flash animation.
It's a humanized version of Rarity from MLP.
I thought it was Zone, I swear.
I thought it was Zone, I swear.
That's not even close to Zone.
Cmon.
That's not even close to Zone.

Yeah, otherwise Lewis would be Lewdis.
*bum dum tish*
Will there be a making of vid?
That's not even close to Zone.

I dunno, the purple hair and the skull-esque hairpin thing made me think of Zone as well, but that's pretty much it.
why even make the dog a kitsune

WHY EVEN
almost every character I see that is even related to kitsunes are really horribly underwritten and terrible
should have been a hell hound or something
hopefully they make more but don't really do anything regarding that hinthint
