Op you said you wanted to debate yet I don't see a rebuttal against me
Op you said you wanted to debate yet I don't see a rebuttal against me
well what did you say?
well what did you say?

Just going to throw my opinion here.
I agree with the always online thing being a bit dumb, but I'm sure a caching system / Optional download of offline versions will be implemented.
You are always paying for "Permission to play the game": Licenses.
Benefit of a game being streamed through the cloud: If my hard drive dies I don't have to re-install a game and its patches.
Cloud gaming also offers some redundancy in this case, as "Cloud" tends to mean data being streamed to local servers and then to various master servers.
The idea of "The cloud" is already "Semented" from its use in business, recreational use (movies) and data storage facilities.
From this, I would rather have a laptop that I can pop up anywhere, not have to worry about downloading and installing a game, and just hop into some online play.
"Expensive to maintain the servers": this is a granted yes, but with modern technology in the state it is, and the direction it is going, totally not unfeasible.
"Digital distribution will thrive, I can't say the same for cloud gaming": Of course Digital distribution will thrive, its pretty much the only thing we have at the moment aside from physical media.
Furthermore, you did not provide any reason as to why it will not thrive in the same way. Sure it means you can't pirate shit anymore, but are you going to admit that?
"All the casuals want it, but all the real gamers don't want this but unfortunately there is ignorance everywhere": A majority of gamers are "Casual", this is just an elitist statement.
For references on some of the technical side of things, I am a Sysadmin. If you had said something like "It will rinse your bandwidth" or "This might not work on legacy equipment" then yeah, I would have agreed on those points. You are trying to define yourself as an expert in this field, and stating that others do not know what they are talking about, however after viewing this video I can conclude that you do not have a clue what cloud gaming is, its advantages or disadvantages, and can safely assume that you are just (for lack of a better term) spouting shit.
for those who with to tl;dr let me sum it up: Teenage gamer doesn't know what cloud gaming is, attempts to prove how its bad.
Also for reference, I myself dislike the idea of cloud gaming - However most of the points in this video were pretty incorrect.
Kinda hard to miss

I apologize for the late reply so here it is.
I can see this benefitting for save files but for streaming a straight up game over the connection seems like a bad idea. Movies and music are generally less stressful on bandwidth then a game would be. While it isn’t unfeasible I don’t see it working for anyone other than big devs in a very niche market. Generally cloud gaming won’t become a big thing due to their being little to no interest in the premise; the fact of the matter is the negatives of it outweigh the positives. That seems pretty insulting to call most gamers casual. I never claim to be an expert on clouds but It doesn’t take an expert to know that it simply isn’t going to work like people build it up to( xbox fanboys for example like to claim it will make their games look better when clouds will not do that for their games). Hope this helps understand my points better.
Seems like a bad idea why?
Why won't it work for anyone other than big devs in a niche market?
What do you mean little or no interest?
What are these negatives that outweigh the positives?
Most gamers ARE casual gamers
"I'm not an expert but it doesn't take an expert to know its not going to work" what?
You literally didn't say anything in that whole post
for fucks sake you cant generalize people's interests we've been over this way too many god damn times
also "people not being interested" isn't a reason why cloud gaming "won't catch on"
at this point you should change the title to "why my videos will never catch on"

Do you really want to play your games always online?
Wheres the hype behind playing your games over a connection?
Let me see, you'd have lag in a single player game, no real ownership, cant play offline, need I go on?
Core gamers drive games successes, not casuals( unless its call of duty).
Its not a complicated thing to understand, I said plenty in the post.
cloud gaming isn't meant to replace current gaming
i put it in bold so you'd notice it easier

Does it make it ok?
And so it begins. I wonder how many people will waste their time arguing with the OP this time...

Ok so firstly you didn't respond to any of my points, or provide proof for your original statement.
Do I want to play my games always online personally? No, but that doesn't devalue it at all. If I had to I probably wouldn't mind.
The Hype? Since when has anything that has been hyped up gone well? Why do I need to be hyped up about something for it to be good? furthermore, hype does not equal fact.
Lag in single player games? Thats why there is this thing called a "cache". No real ownership? I'd hate to break it to you, but we don't so much own the games as we do pay for a "license" to play them, that can be cancelled under the devs EULA - I pointed this out in my original post which you obviously didn't read. Can't play offline? Who says this option won't be implemented?
Core gamers drive game successes, not casuals - Dude, most gamers ARE casuals. therefore, casuals provide most income for game companies. ergo, casuals drive the industry.
You really didn't say shit all, and you really don't understand what I am saying, do you?
Does it make it ok?
why wouldnt it be ok
if you have an option to not use it theres no reason why it wouldnt be ok

Which points, I replied to what you said. You shouldn't have to be connected online to lay a single player game.
I never said hype equaled fact
games that are played online will lag when the connections dips up and down, this woudnt change with a cloud based gaming experience. Again I own all my steam games and drm free games, I am allowed to modify(mods) and copy(GOG) them if I wish so no, I do have ownership of my games.
Show me proof their a re more casuals then core gamers.

No i mean is it ok not to have that option?
its not an opinion if you're saying that no one will be interested and itll never catch on like it's a fact
its not an opinion if you're saying that no one will be interested and itll never catch on like it's a fact
Ok, now answer me this. Do you think it will catch on?
if it will catch on or not is simply a matter of luck and how well it will perform
given google fiber and depending on internet speed and the sort itll probably be a godsend for people who have shit pcs but great internet
and its not like people "aren't interested" thats just a stupid assumption

Thank you. What allso will be a factor on it is whether google fiber will get to enough places since much of america is still running on dial up. Cloud gaming very well could catch on in some areas of the world but america is a stretch.
lol the only people who are still on dialup probably live out in the desert
lol the only people who are still on dialup probably live out in the desert
You seem to not know much about that. These people who are still on dial up are the people who need better internet services but wont get them because their in rural area's not deserts.
your argument doesn't make sense segasage
at all
your argument doesn't make sense segasage
at all
which one?
all of them
T... since much of america is still running on dial up..
3% of America use Dial up the majority have access to broadband.
3% of America use Dial up the majority have access to broadband.
not all of it is good broadband though.
Saying that something will never happen is pretty naive statement. Once somebody said that there will be no need for computers and what happened? You can't accuretly predict how tech will evolve.
You seem to miss the point here, I am saying cloud gaming shouldn't become a game because what happens if the service shuts down, that game is gone for good.
