what's more painful is not saying anything at all
Remember the "where is episode 3?"
what's more painful is not saying anything at all
You need to think how much thought there was between each word, as he's cautious and Gaben. He's just cautious not revealing anything with that answer, They got hacked last time they did. And with the overhype hl3 has gotten, who can blame them for shutting up? This happened today, I found it really suiting.
Let's be honest for a minute, would any of you really want Half Life 3 on Source Engine 1 or would you rather wait a couple years for Source Engine 2? Also, making HL3 a VR game doesn't mean it'd be a VR exclusive. It just means that it would be improved significantly through VR and if it was truly platform agnostic for Oculus and the Vive, it would push both platforms in a significant way, probably more than Star Citizen will.

HL3 has been in development hell for so long now they ported the entirety of it to S2 a while back. HL3 Source 1 will never be a thing.
Whatever that new technology is, I sure hope to god it isn't fucking VR. VR is an external thing, while all the cool technology from HL1 and HL2 has been software based.
The Know just posted a new video and they seem to be sticking to that source.

We have excellent graphics, we have excellent sound design, we have excellent physics, we have excellent motion captured body/facial animation, we have content streaming solutions for massive open worlds, all achievable on $500 worth of hardware.
The Know just posted a new video and they seem to be sticking to that source.
The video was kinda weird too. It was like backpedaling but still staying their ground somehow
The Know just posted a new video and they seem to be sticking to that source.
The email exchange between Laidlaw and the Know guys is pretty interesting. [T]http://i.imgur.com/BWrxXuu.png[/T]
The email exchange between Laidlaw and the Know guys is pretty interesting. [T]http://i.imgur.com/BWrxXuu.png[/T]
Seems like they were badgering the fuck out of him to me.
I'm excited and really hope they do innovate the way we use VR in Half Life 3
Seems like they were badgering the fuck out of him to me.
its what all internet journalists are trained in [del]tmz[/del] journalism school [editline]27th July 2015[/editline] in total honesty the guys over at funhaus are trained in the art of "exploiting the internet" by doing shit like this, or being sensationalist, or using thumbnails with the same cookie cutter exploits the rest of youtube does, stuff like that. they're very by the books, and in a lot of cases that can be real shitty, but it allows them to put out content like they do.
It can't take any longer than 2017. I mean they wouldn't let this go on for over a decade... would they?
I'm excited and really hope they do innovate the way we use VR in Half Life 3
that "hm.." at the end of the sentence can only mean one thing. start spamming marc's email and see if he makes an arg to announce hl3
The game starts off right from EP2 and everyone dies in the hangar
And then the game turns into [sp]Opposing Force 2[/sp] which is highly irrelevant and doesn't tell us anything new about the story.
And then the game turns into [sp]Opposing Force 2[/sp] which is highly irrelevant and doesn't tell us anything new about the story.
If it had Adrian I might prefer it :boxhide:
If it had Adrian I might prefer it :boxhide:
They could make it the best of both worlds and have Adrian team up with Gordon
They could make it the best of both worlds and have Adrian team up with Gordon
No, I need to play both. Neither can ever be an NPC
What a gigantic douchebag. "Hey Valve, I'll teach you, the game development company, about gamers!"
What if they pull a metal gear and change the protagonist completely?
that'd be fuckin sick i'd love to play as raiden in half life
The email exchange between Laidlaw and the Know guys is pretty interesting. [T]http://i.imgur.com/BWrxXuu.png[/T]
annoying. these guys have zero idea what they are doing. this is why most of the valve employees dont reply to emails
half life 3 will be a freemium moba in which sad little men will get angry at you for buying the wrong picture with imaginary money
[sp]NEVER EVER[/sp] no but seriously
"The only reason we'd go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why [they did]," he said. "But you know if you want to do another Half-Life game and you want to ignore everything we've learned in shipping Portal 2 and in shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side, that seems like a bad choice. So we'll keep moving forward. But that doesn't necessarily always mean what people are worried that it might mean."
kind of confirms it for me.
The email exchange between Laidlaw and the Know guys is pretty interesting. [T]http://i.imgur.com/BWrxXuu.png[/T]
I thought Marc handled that really well. The man was being incredibly annoying and quite obviously pressing (while being rude). The last email was definitely the best response I thought he could have possibly given.
At 2:20 the guy says "HL3 does have to be the most perfect game ever made... if it's not it would cause the biggest internet backlash ever". There is no point watching the rest of the video or listen to his views. Its like people think video games have stopped evolving in 2008 when Episode 2 came out. Like nothing that any other developer ever did since then doesn't really matter, because they aren't Valve. All I want is the story to continue/end.
people are seriously thinking about hl3 being vr only. even their aperture vr demo has a non vr mode.. seriously..
people are seriously thinking about hl3 being vr only. even their aperture vr demo has a non vr mode.. seriously..
Maybe not VR only, but VR playing a major part in the game makes sense. Every Half Life game has been the flagship title for some kind of new tech, and Valve seems really invested in VR.

I can see how VR would be interesting in a game like Portal, but I don't think VR itself is going to be anything "ground breaking" to FPS games like Half-Life. That's not to say Half-Life won't fully support VR, but saying VR is going to be Half-Life's main draw is going a bit too far. Half-Life 3 is going to bring something new to the table that we haven't seen in any other game thus far.
