Problems I see with this gameplay demo.
A: He takes no damage, yet when he's purposefully trying to die he does.
B: Shrek in Jail seems like a scripted sequence.
C: You can heal while moving, which means you can just run and heal at the same time.
D: The skeledragon had a wind up time of 10 seconds, giving you far too much time to get away from it.
E: Torches block all damage.
F: Combat is slow
Not saying i'm not hyped, but i'm still worried the game is gonna go backwards on a few things.
A: He took damage throughout the vid. When enemies hit him he took damage all the time as far as I could tell
B: Or yah know, it was like an optional enemy or something that's triggered by your curiosity to attack it.
C: Why is this an issue?
D: Ok? It killed itself anyway when he dodged the attack and it smashed into the wall.
E: Durp, it's a DEMONSTRATION. It wouldn't do any fucking good if they died within 5 seconds of pulling it out.
F: Seriously? It's always been fucking slow. This comment makes me question if you've even friggin played the other games.
This was a demonstration vid to show off certain mechanics the game in which they obviously used a dev cheat character; so anything that was shown that is weird like not taking tons or no damage can be pretty much hand waved away at this point because of said dev character. All your "points" are bupkis.
i want someone to make a gif of player getting decked in the face with the axe that was great
I hope we can get our hands on that axe.
DS2 PvP: Tense axe dodging action!

That would actually be fucking awesome, but at the same time really annoying after a while.
Artificial Difficulty 2
i'm so fucking ready for dark souls 2.
i've got my green shoulder pads, sunny D, sunlight medallion cookies and i'm REAAADY TO PRAAAISE

it also seems that duel wielding will have more of a purpose

Scripted? As opposed to what?

A.) If you build a character substantially enough to wield that great sword one handed, while simultaneously carrying an Axe, a Rapier, a Shield, and a Torch with heavy armor and only medium roll, I think you'd take far less damage than most people too.
B.) Of course it's scripted. It has one of two option.
1.) Gets shot in the face and cries itself to sleep.
2.) Bust out and wreck someone's shit.
C.) A welcome change I think. It provides so much more kiting against players, yet only lowers the difficulty slightly. It honestly wasn't hard to find a half second to stop and down a flask in DS1, but I'll welcome it anyway.
D.) I hardly doubt it was a trap to destroy you, considering it's body blocked half the stair case before it lunges. THAT'S a scripted event, and THAT'S what you should be bitching about. Were you also going to complain about how it was easy to kill those two big dudes in the dark if he just rolled out from behind their fat asses?
E.) Yeah that was a bit off-putting.
F.) And? Demon's Souls was slow.
Overall, I didn't like your post. I wouldn't take a career in being a critic, but when DS2 comes out I wouldn't mind some

with you.
The torch thing may have been a buff as well. You don't really think they'd make a torch block so much damage do you?
Getting more of a Demon's Souls vibe from this. Which isn't a bad thing, I think Demon's Souls had a better atmosphere.

Yeah it goes against everything we've seen in every souls game previously.
Nothing besides shields block all damage of a given type, and even then a lot don't.
It doesn't seem reasonable to assume that that'll be the case in the final version.
Some people should stop thinking the early presentation will work exactly the same as the final game :I
So much dying !
Any info if it's still open world like Dark souls or hub world like Demons souls?
DS is the only game where they encourage showing you fail in the early previews of the game.
I'm pretty sure torches aren't going to have 100% physical damage reduction in the actual game guys.
Also my pants are filled with jizz after seeing that gameplay video. I'm not sure why but I think it's a good sign.
Yeah, I've heard/read somewhere that they did it for the purpose of the demo. (The torch blocking thing) I'm pretty sure you'll have enough of "You've died" screens in your own experience, so no point in showing it to the public. :v
You guys notice the player could switch between THREE weapons in his right hand?
