that was quite the takedown I'm kinda blown away by the fact the kid was streaming pokemon go with a facecam rig in the first place, what a niche [editline]e[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/q6Yykyt.jpg[/t] ugh
holy shit all of those facial expressions are straight out of a Goosebumps cover.
If this is a regular thing, that thieves wear these headlamps purely to help them steal shit, it would be quite the give away as anyone wearing one of those things would be suspicious as fuck.
head lamps are common among all walks of life. you don't have to be a thief to own one
Holy shit, you can see the mugger immediately reset the phones. Seems like this isn't the first time he's done something like this.
Seems like it'd work business wise, I mean if you can get away with it then you'll have a half decent haul right? A pokemon go streamer has to have all sorts of gear on him beyond just his phone and wallet.

I heard the headlamp was so that the shining light would blind the camera or at least make it difficult to make out the face. Problem is, dumbass didn't have the light on.
thieves are some of the biggest lowlives. this pussy needs to get his head beaten into the pavement and have his shit taken from him, i doubt he earned most of it. fucking loser.
Man, /pol/ really likes being edgy going by those comments
I heard the headlamp was so that the shining light would blind the camera or at least make it difficult to make out the face. Problem is, dumbass didn't have the light on.
It's probably there so he can turn it on later so he doesn't get mugged.
The head lamp is so he can have both hands free when he steals shit from a car. Come on this guy is obviously a career criminal from the one video alone. This isn't the first time he's stolen phones
Apparently they just temporarily suspended his account so anyone with his phone can't fuck with it.
Sure? Multiple other sites have reached out to twitch for a comment on why he was banned and they said he violated ToS for non-gaming content.
I know the dude shouldn't have been going around at night with all that stuff out in the open but it really fucking sucks that we can't just trust people to not be shitbags.
This is the reason why I don't get it when manifacturer don't force you type the password of your email in first before resetting, same thing when wanting to reset the memory card. This is just scary to know that someone could run past you, grab your phone and simply reset the phone in a few taps.
I'm not trying to be all victim blaming here because obviously the mugger is a shitbag and it's all his fault, but man, you gotta watch your fucking back. Especially if you have expensive shit right out in the open. Take a little effort to be smart, people. Pay attention to your surroundings if you're going to be a walking bag of money. I play pokemon go at night too but I go to more upscale and very public places most of the time. Even then, I'm still constantly checking my back and keeping an eye on all the people around me. If he was smart he would have known that guy was behind him, recognized the risk factors (red shorts potentially indicate a blood gang member, headlamps are commonly used by criminals, the person walking quickly to get close), and then done something about it. All he would have to do is go "Hey man congrats you're on my livestream! Got 500 people watching, say hi!" and that situation would have been defused, and without causing any offense to the guy were he not a mugger.

thats a pretty definitive shot of his face -- hopefully we'll get an update article in a few days.

Is it possible to set it up myself somehow? I have cyanogenmod on my phone.
I agree with both of you, like you have to be careful yourself I just can't help imagining how some people would react if the victim was a woman instead.
The same? Everyone who has something to protect should take active steps to do so. It's important to know the difference between making yourself out to be the victim and protecting yourself. You're not preemptively victim blaming yourself just because you take precautions to protect yourself.
Even though he shouldn't have been walking around Central Park at night (Not trying to victim blame, but c'mon. It's common New Yorker knowledge here), what an asshole for mugging him. Probably wasn't the first time either, seems like he has a routine down.
kanye is back with his weird art

People should be careful, but for some people it seems like reality doesn't work like that. I suppose I went off topic which wasn't intended.
I am really disappointed with all this. They have a clear picture of his face and still no news of him being arrested. CSI New York was all a lie.
Looks like scrapes and bruises for a while..
Not just that it seems. Tooth damage fucking sucks.
Gonna Lurk on this thread hoping this ends in good news. Damn.
GG to this asshat, his face was caught and it's out there now.
Hopefully this fucker will be caught within a few days and gets to serve some good old jail time.
this seem to be an organized crime by the mugger, he knew exactly what he was doing. deleting all data from phone and stuff. he didn't care about what was on the phone.

Gas station owners constantly put shit in the windows despite the police telling them over and over again not to so that they can see into the store at night as they drive by. People don't check their mirrors before getting out of their car at a parking lot to make sure no shady looking character is about to roll up on them. People don't look inside of a gas station to see what's happening inside before walking into it People obliviously walk into trouble all the time

You have the benefit of hindsight. He should be able to walk around carrying gold nuggets in a wagon while blindfolded if he wants. It shouldn't have to be a worry. Pretty sure saying "well what else do you expect walking around looking so enticing without being extra careful" is still victim blaming.
