MineCon sounds kind of dumb but I've never heard any serious complaints about it and that's likely because Mojang has the staff and resources to make it work.

At $50 a ticket, the apology letter (Which is extremley long and detailed so I think it is sincere), and just how the minecraft community is, I think it was a honest attempt made by some inexperienced people.
