I'd actually kill for the full version of Jimmy Fallon's part
I didn't recognise half the shit in that video, I must hangout in a different part of youtube.
wow we really didn't have a lot to show for this year in general then, apart from dumb music videos and the harlem shake.
[editline]11th December 2013[/editline]
Also do Smosh actually still exist? Really?
so much hate in this thread for people having fun
so much hate in this thread for people having fun
Having fun does not make something good.
It's not really bad for me because I only know like half of the stuff shown. If I had to rate it I'd give it a 6/10 but on IGN standards I'd give a 8/10.
Having fun does not make something good.
then it needs more criticism than "fuck this culture" and "it's pewdiepie"
while personally i don't know a lot of the moments from this video, it wasn't badly put together and entertained me enough that i don't feel like cutting myself on my own edginess
Reminds me that the Harlem shake was the fastest fad in recent memory.
Hmm.. I kinda liked it. I suppose I must be weird then.
why can't youtube just be a place to host videos
it's like a mash-up of really cringey youtube cover videos and shitty memes, like why do people give a shit about this mediocrity
[editline]wat[/editline]
and is the title 'What Does 2013 Say?"
like a shitty pun attempt/reference to What Does the Fox Say?
that's really horrible
painful
[editline]wat[/editline]
I mean just look at the thumbnail of the video before you press play in the OP
i feel bad
Is it bad that I don't get any of these references? And wtf the AR2 does NOT shoot lasers...
I don't think Facepunch is the target audience for this video, but please continue ranting about it
You guys are getting so worked up over this stuff
For example, pewdiepie didnt even do anything terribly obnoxious but some of you sound like you're raging just because he appeared in the video

The most terrifying closed caption to be conceived.
I'm glad the Slow-Mo guys were in it and got a significant part #dantheman
that's fucking gay man
Musical Clusterfuck, otherwise I enjoyed it.
I wasn't a fan of half of the things in the video but I still found it very enjoyable to watch.
I'm glad the Slow-Mo guys were in it and got a significant part #dantheman
I was going to mention this. Kind of funny that they were in it considering they've been making slow-mo videos before youtube was a thing.
I don't think it's terrible. Better than last years by far.
Look what I got in my email.

ho man can't wait to tell all my friends, i'm gonna be the coolest kid at school.
It's like they were summarizing everything bad that was put up on Youtube in 2013.
Most of this video was things that were driven into the fucking ground.
Most of this video was things that were driven into the fucking ground.
find me something that has consistently stayed popular, fresh, and entertaining for an extended period of time
niche in-jokes don't count
find me something that has consistently stayed popular, fresh, and entertaining for an extended period of time

There's a difference between something getting stale and something being driven into the ground. If every other popular youtuber does the exact same fucking joke within a two week period, it's going to get a lot more stale if all of them told their own rehashed jokes in their own videos.
To be honest I don't get why people expect these to be good, or at least an improvement over previous ones. They're meant to show the most popular/trending fads on youtube, which are usually cringe-inducing memes.
That being said, the video could have been a lot worse.
Awful, just awful
It's everything that's wrong with modern pop culture/youtube celebrities neatly packed in a video and intertwined. pop music with meaningless or unintelligible lyrics, parodies of shitty things, and "internet culture" that's cringeworthy and often has stopped being both funny and relevant a long time ago (prime example is how that annoying girlfriend meme girl is somehow in this video, or Psy's new song which is literally only famous in the west because it's what came after Gangnam Style)
Got to say Freddie Wong's face here mirrored my own through most of this video.

This was amplified when pewdipie reared his head towards the end.
I paused it more then half way then saw this post and stopped.
These type of remixes are my nightmare fuel, when I was a little kid at night I couldn't goto sleep because I would have an earworm that would mix catchy songs (end of tv show tunes, commercials, anything pop) into a repetitive loop that wouldn't stop.
This remix is a trigger, I mean there are good remixes yet this one is torture, the only thing that would make this worse is if there were a children choir that would shout with dissonance the lyrics.
