I recently took a cold shower and all it did was make my arse itchy.
My shower can only be warm. There is no cold option.
:(
Wait so the shower energizes you but also makes it easier to sleep
I'm confused because it sounds like both of those cannot be true at the same time

They are. I've recently started coldshowering night and morning and its like, if you wanna stay up it keeps you up, but if you wanna sleep you get a minute of calm coolness then you're out like a rock.
It's amazing.

I must experiment with this
isn't there a chance of a heart attack with a cold shower?
it's lower than plummeting into a cold lake, but I mean, the risk is still there?
I love hot showers because they make me feel really relaxed
I actually love laying down in a hot shower much like you would in a hot tub and using it as a kind of "me time" to decompress.
But yeah, not a bad idea to do a cold shower after a workout or in the morning or something to refresh and energize you.

my 51 year old mother takes ice cold showers. No warmup, no gradual coolification, just instant manmode. Hasn't yet had a heart attack.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with how your body reacts to lower temperatures. When you're consciously awake and want to stay awake, cold water makes you move more to raise your body temperature and keeping you awake. Body temperature naturally falls when you fall asleep, so going to sleep after a cold shower keeps your body temperature low, making it easier to fall asleep.
Just got back from trying it out, after a pretty hard (for me anyway) workout, where I could immediately feel my arms feeling exhausted afterwards.
Well, it's the most intimidating thing to climb in to, but you actually get used to the water really quickly. A minute, tops, especially if you don't go in all at once and kind of tip toe your way in. When I climb in to a hot shower, I have a huge problem with getting distracted. I feel a little tired, I sit down and then my mind goes running off and I can spend ludicrous amounts of time in the shower and use up all the hot water. With the cold shower, it's not an issue, as you can imagine. There's no relaxation and the cool water keeps your mind focused on what you need to be doing. There's no temptation to stay in the shower any longer than you need to, not because it's unpleasant but because you simply don't need to be there anymore. It's very businesslike, and honestly, it's a relief. Hot showers are relaxing and all during it, but for me they're a dreadful, time eating trap, even if it is a relaxing one.
I didn't feel that much more energized, but after a work out, I'm not surprised. I imagine it's like splashing your face with cool water x 100, so in the morning, just after waking up, I reckon you can feel the effect much more. I'll try it out when I wake up tomorrow.
You know the dreadful feeling of climbing out of a hot shower to a house that suddenly feels like the fuckin' antarctic? Well, that's not an issue at all. Seriously, I expected it to be lessened there's honestly no feeling of difference when you climb out of the shower, which is amazing and makes the cold shower worth it in and of itself. I don't even mind having fans and whatnot on. Not having your mirror all fogged up and feeling exhausted in an ocean of humidity is also naturally very good. Plus, my skin felt, not just not dry, but refreshed.
The feeling of strain after my workout vanished after the cold shower, however a little bit later while typing this post and my arms are starting to feel just a little bit tired again, but it's still a pretty drastic difference.
Overall, I enjoyed it a lot and I think I'll be making it a regular occurrence. If you're hesitant too, I say give it a shot. Trust me, it's a hell of a lot better than you think it is.
I too love the lack of fog on the mirror.
I took a cold shower. My dick shrunk in and I couldn't masturbate.
0/10 would not recommend.
I always spend too much time in the shower when the water is warm... but I really hate the feeling of getting in cold water! I swam competitively for 11+ years in "cold" water and I never got over my dislike of entering it. There's no chance I'll be able to transition now.
Then again, I could try warm water first like a lot of you have been saying and slowly turn down the temperature. I think I'll try that.

i almost tried this last night but it's winter in australia and i didn't want to die
i must admit my hair feels a bit more glorious after a cold shower and i feel like i can sleep better.
So according to the video cold showers help you sleep and keep you energized? How does that work?
I don't even care I just took a cold shower because of this video.
taking cold showers helped my skin a lot. hot showers kept my skin dried out and i was always getting redness/spots etc.
Fuck cold showers in the winter.
There was no sun, and I forgot to turn on the water heater as a backup for warm water aswell. Worst shower ever.
I tried taking a cold shower today, but it was too much to just go instantly to cold. What should I do? I tried climbing out of hot into cold slowly but I'm not sure I did it right.

Just turn it on and grab something, only way you'll get used to it but not shock the shit out of you every time.

Start at lukewarm and chill it down slowly, while in it, if you don't have the nads to jump right into icy death.
It also doesn't have to be Titanic cold, just moderately colder than room temperature.
If you can't stand still and are doing some kind of evasionary jitterbug dance to avoid the water, it's probably too cold for you. [sp]Pansy[/sp]
Almost all of the posts in this thread sounds like something you'd see in those shitty commercials. :v:
'This cold water shower changed my LIFE!'
It's true though I've been having cold showers since I watched this video and you just feel so fantastic
I tried this, is it normal to shake allot? It felt great and everything but holy shit I kept shaking, once I got out I was laughing my ass off at how much I was shaking.
This shit would have to cause immortality for me to even entertain the idea of a cold shower. I hate regular showers enough as is.
Nah, fuck cold showers. They make me feel plain uncomfortable whilst a warm shower is extremely relaxing.
Which can be a bad thing if you just woke up.
Like I said before, I fell asleep in the shower once.
I was late to school that day.
Had I taken a cold shower, I would have been fine.
Cold showers make my dick sad
My hot water system rusts out and explodes rust and bits out the taps, forcing me to have cold water.
And then this video appears.
I had a cold shower yesterday. It was 6 degrees in my bathroom. It felt like my body had shutdown.
Guess this means that I ain't a man :quagmire:
I've been doing cold showers cuz of this thread. It took a lot of getting used to, but now it feels really really nice and I'm getting more resilient to colder temperatures. Its awesome
i have to finish with a cold shower or i start sweating profusely and have to take a shower again
unless it's winter
