I was expecting PhotonicInduction to be doing this. Interesting video nonetheless
2600 Farad, holy shit. I used a 20 pF capacitor in my last electronics lab. That means his capacitor has 130,000,000,000,000 more capacitance than the one I was using.

No, he was trying to increase the voltage across them.
The safety procedures in my electronics labs are so over the top I would imagine just saying "2600 Farad capacitor" would get you kicked out.
So naturally, I want to play with one of these
It only costs $1000 for 100 of them? Sounds like a fucking awesome time to me
I want to see one of those explode.
Fuck biology, Im studying physics now.

Mine are pretty chill. There are pretty much no safety procedures whatsoever. You're not supposed to drink in the lab. I do anyway. No one cares.
That could be turned into a lethal weapon.
As an electrical engineering major I can tell you that pretty much everything that guy did is completely batshit insane.
And this is why physics is awesome

Life science is boring and nasty.
Oh god, I want to order like 10 and put them in series :v:
Put them in parallel so you get a higher current. That is even more fun than higher voltage.
Why isn't he wearing any protection?
Because of the low voltage, your skin is a really good insulator.
In our lab, we got a power-supply for our MOT-Coils which delivers 200 A at 16 V. touching the blank wires doesn't do anything at all.
Finally capacitors have a cool amount of capacity. I've been waiting forever for this.
They are thinking about these for electric cars now, since they can be charged very quickly.

They're already being used in buses.
They're not really practical for cars because they discharge so quickly, but they're perfect for buses because they need to stop frequently anyway, so they can recharge frequently.

It's almost like a light saber duel
WTF i dont want to learn things
I wonder what happens if you would touch both of the ends of the wire. Would you feel anything at all?
REVERSE THE LEADS REVERSE THE LEADS, thats how you make capacitors explode. and im sure a capacitor of this magnitude has a few safety give points to stop a massive explosion.

Uh, yes? It shortcuts through you, like it did through the coin. It hurts.

You'd better run from it
Kinda wanna play Fallout now...

All those years it took for you to apply for a major in engineering and all you took away from it was "Big electricity make big boom" :v:
As a scientist I feel that I need to get a few of these.

For all the people going on about coil guns, I've looked into EDLCs as power supplies for capacitors but I'm told that pulse-discharges make them very unreliable, so they're not great for coil guns. It would be great if they were usable, but every source I've read has said it's a very poor idea.
Also these aren't new, edlcs have been around for a long long time.
Just ordered half a dozen :smug:
Boring.

Shit is all magic.
