Thats kind of a bullshit analysis of mw2 and Black Ops. They where about the same in gameplay and "competitive gaming".
MW2 and MW3 are the same, gameplay wise, except MW3 tries harder to be serious, making it a bit less fun.
Black Ops is a whole bunch different to MW2.
how does mw3 try harder to be serious?
i thought the fact its insanely over the top non-stop explosions action action action is what made it the least serious game in the franchise

I forgot MW3 also had riot shields. But yeah, other than that, the shader overlay and map design is different.
"effort" = making map/weapon/player models, infinity ward had to make the initial effort with modern warfare 1
now it will turn into the MW series, where it's just a rehash of the same things each year, why would they go to to the "effort" of making new assets when they know that stupid bro gamers will buy their game regardless?
Rehashing doesn't matter and I wish you guys would get that through your thick skull, what matters is nothing but if its fun and interesting, and they don't need to change the gameplay style and everything every game to make it interesting. Black Ops does try to be interesting, and I believe MW does as well.
Lost it at "Asian Prison"

But it's not interesting anymore. I was interesting back in CoD4 but doing the same stuff over and over again stopped being interesting a long time ago.

I fail to see how Black Ops is all the different. MW3 was just as serious as all the other CoDs.
But it's not interesting anymore. I was interesting back in CoD4 but doing the same stuff over and over again stopped being interesting a long time ago.
Well honestly that's your opinion, and I'm not necessarily targeting you with this, but you need to just accept YOU don't like it, and stop thinking its an objectively bad game because YOU don't like it
But it's not interesting anymore. I was interesting back in CoD4 but doing the same stuff over and over again stopped being interesting a long time ago.
That's your opinion though. Clearly the increasing sales show that a lot of people disagree with your assertion and still find the game very interesting.

It would be nice if critical thinking was something that was actually taught in schools. Then maybe some people would stop going into the same CoD threads over and over demanding that they "change the game" that shatters sales records every time it's released.
No man, the video is legit, Treyarch put their whole team into making it and making the game sound as attractive as possible.

Not really as it's something called a sequel.
I mean, unless you count the new gamemodes as being the same as the ones in MW2 even though they weren't actually in it.

Well welcome to video games series. If you want a different game, don't play games from the call of duty franchise.
Goes the same with Halo, battlefield, Killzone etc.
That was quite well made.

two new game modes.
60€ well spent

Four, actually.

The people it hurts the most are those who enjoy call of duty games. As I said earlier I really enjoyed all of the Modern Warfare games along with Black Ops and despite the hate I was looking forward to MW3.
But MW3 is just simply half assed and boring. Its just in general as generic as it could have been in relation to maps and weapons. Its just as though there was no effort behind it, which there probably wasn't.

It was cobbled together by Infinity Ward's B-team and some new studio. Treyarch is it's own thing.
Four, actually.
Holy fuck, how revolutionary.
If they continue working so hard on sequels they should start charging 70€ because you're gonna buy it anyway.
Lost it at the grenade launcher named "Japan Lake"
And you know this how?
Talking about MW3 here.
Right now rumours are that Black ops 2 is set in the future, so who knows, maybe we'll actually get some fresh things in it.

"Future Warfare" even though they mention the AMD65 to be in-game.
Future my ass
The weapon names really got me :v:

Where did they say that and you can have an AMD65 in a futuristic setting.

There was a leak of information, not sure if it's true though.
Can't wait.

So if I'd take a game, mod the weapons and add new models and voices. "Create" a 4 hours long story that take place on say 10 new maps. It could be considered a completely new game? Strange, I thought those were called mods, DLCs or expansions.

This has been status quo for the FPS genre for years now. Changing engines every development cycle (mostly) died with the passing of the arena shooter phase. It will become a more common occurrence considering the massive cost of game development these days. So 10 years ago I'd agree. Today? It's hard to fault developers for not wanting to take risks or massively upgrade their base when the stakes are as high as they can often be.
