I'm glad to see colors were just as vibrant in the 90's too. It's easy to forget that stuff has always looked the same when the cameras makes everything seem faded and muddy.
It makes me sympathize with people who feel that life was black and white in the 1800's. It just would feel weird when you see old color stuff.
Why do people seem to be happier?
I'm going to guess some of it is due to the lack of communication, people went to these things and could forget about their problems. Having your phone with you keeps you connected to your stressful life. Mobile phones, especially good phones were still not that popular.
But that's a really silly extrapolation though.

Because they weren't distracted by a bunch of shit.

Just makes me sigh. I always feel like something major was lost when 9/11 happened.

I see absolutely no security in that video. It feels so weird.
I'm impressed at the idea of pioneering HD, but visually it's not amazing since seeing movies from the 80's/90's that look like they were shot with modern gear on my parents' high-end TV. Shit's awesome.

That New York video is a weird step back in time though.
fun facts again: a lot of "old" films (70s/80s/90s, hell, early 2000s), even when telecined in at 2K and shown to you in full 1920p HD and you can see every spec of grain still looks old because of the colour properties of the film stocks of that era and the hollywood trends. whilst seeing old sharp beautiful footage like this isn't that impressive, it's the neutral bluey, artificially lit colours which make it look like a 2008 sporting event that is really doing it for you.
