I was sadly unimpressed by that napalm bombing. :( I wanted to see them destroy the treeline in an epic spectacle like this:
Alright so where's our NVA and where's our ARVN? Or is it just "MUHREENS" and "VEET KAWNG" like every other motherfucking Vietnam game out there. Hell, fucking Call of Duty had the NVA
Battlefield Vietnam was fucking great because it had NVA, VC, US and the good ol marvin the ARVN. Plus they had an absolute shitload of varients of US forces, even though it didn't matter much since they had relatively the same equipment, its pretty cool
I opened the trailer and it aint me didnt start playing, little disappointing
What a dumb comment. Are people not allowed to express negative attitudes towards upcoming games, or do you also consider comments like "man, can't wait for this!" equally useless?
I dunno I don't feel "I DON'T SUPPORT TRIPWIRE!!!" fits amongst the various bits of conversation people had about the trailer.
Did we know the release date?
This trailer looks really bad tbh.
Yeah, player animations look awful, clunky, and spastic. Some of the camera shots are just weird direction choices and it's overall produced pretty amateurishly... I would've polished the game animations first at least, it's kinda jarring and off putting to see clunkiness like that in a game that's being produced in 2016. I mean, I'm not expecting AAA production quality but the characters were literally jittering half the time. I at least applaud them for presenting what looks like genuine gameplay footage rather than over-polished, misleading footage.
Seriously hope they'd add in death screams/death dialogue as good as in RO2/RS, it kinda made the game a lot more dramatic/realistic with guys actually crying out for help when shot in the stomach instead of just a quick moan and silence. Luckily the marketing team who made a dogs dinner out of KF2 have no input on the development of Rising Storm 2. They are separate teams. As for the trailer, it's early days yet, they didn't have to release this at such an early stage. Still I'm excited for this game though.
it's happening
I dunno I don't feel "I DON'T SUPPORT TRIPWIRE!!!" fits amongst the various bits of conversation people had about the trailer.
Tripwire and their terrible practices has everything to do with a game they're publishing.
Tripwire and their terrible practices has everything to do with a game they're publishing.
"Looks pretty good" "Glad they didn't use an overused song" "Looks a bit shit at the moment" "NOT GIVING THEM MY MONEY!!!" "It's probably because it's alpha" Perfectly fitting. [editline]7th March 2016[/editline] Thanks for telling me you're not buying the game though I'm really glad I'm aware of that.
It's very much worth having a conversation about why Tripwire doesn't deserve anyone's money.
I'll keep that in mind when I buy it.
I hope we'll get to play as the Australian and the South Korean army as well.
I hope we'll get to play as the Australian and the South Korean army as well.
Knowing tripwire I'd say it's pretty unlikely. They stopped bothering with variety after RO1.
Interesting. I would've thought they'd have gone for mostly M14s for the Americans, and mostly SKSs for the NVA and Viet Cong, you know, to tie into their balancing of the WW2 era games. Interesting to see how the gameplay works out for this if all the rifleman are going to be full-auto capable.
I suspect it'll be similar to RO and the original RS in the sense that depending on the setting of each map, the fighting forces and their equipment will be different. Like Guadalcanal sees the USMC with the bolt-action M1903 Springfield whereas later maps all see the M1 Garand in use, the same can be said for the M14 and M16 in that respect. Also, I can see there being a wide bit of variation between the NVA and Viet Cong - NVA are probably going to be straight-up equipped with AK-47s, RPK, RPDs and so on whereas VC are probably (at least on some maps, anyways) going to be more varied in their equipment with stuff like the PPSh, MP40 and SKS showing up in their arsenal alongside the AK to reflect the fact they're a guerilla fighting force working with limited supplies.
My coworker and I were taking bets on whether it'd be Fortunate Son or Paint it Black.
What about All Along The Watchtower. :v:
I hope we'll get to play as the Australian and the South Korean army as well.
Australians would be pretty dope because they'd get L1A1s and other Commonwealth weapons, but South Koreans would basically just be reskined USA
What about All Along The Watchtower. :v:
The original announcement trailer had CCR - Run Through the Jungle: Don't think that was ever widely used in Vietnam War setting media.
That's probably because the song came out in 1970 and most media about the Vietnam War takes place in 1968 or 1969, or earlier. [editline]7th March 2016[/editline] Which is kind of a bummer, it's really one of the better CCR songs.

But yeah a lot of the media concentrates on the hot years 1968-69.
I'm gonna play the shit outta this. I've played way too much RO2, and I think it is due to the overall game mechanics. It just feels good, and realistic.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this one. I think it's great that the vietnam war is getting some video game love, but I really didn't feel that impressed by what I saw in the two videos posted. I just seems kind of average to me, like there's nothing there that actively grabs my attention or sets it apart from other games.

Also when you kill someone, you actually killed that ticket. You wasted 1 ticket of that team, so it feels like kills actually matter.

Also so much good music came out in 1970 that it's just criminal to leave it out of Vietnam War media. (I mean look at my avatar, that's from 1970)
Eh I'm not too happy to see it. ERDL was a very limited issue camo. Mostly SEALS got the stuff.
At least it's impossible to be as anachronistic as CoD:BlOps
Eh I'm not too happy to see it. ERDL was a very limited issue camo. Mostly SEALS got the stuff.
Yeah i'd rather they stuck with the iconic one shade green and tiger stripe for the special units
Those helicopters better be flyable...
Those helicopters better be flyable...
Probably not, it's gonna be a call-in afaik.
