I would film him back.

just two dudes with cameras pointing at each other saying "What? Huh? I'm just doing a video. Huh? Are you confused?" at each other
there is no reaction, this goes on until one of them collapses from exhaustion and breaks the spell
i laugh at shit that's funny, this is about as funny as those "pranks in the hood" videos. same mindset, basically. do something that's just barely reprehensible, and act defensive when you're justifiably called out. "its just a video bro lol chill". then slap it on youtube, call it comedy, and watch as everyone complains about how insane and violent the video producer's victims are. insta-fame
This is nowhere near the same level as the "pranks in the hood" videos and you know it

It really comes down to your type of humor, I personally find these videos fucking hilarious. But perhaps that comes down to me trolling the ever loving shit out of my own friends irl for shits and giggles every now and then. What makes these videos hilarious is some of the people completely overreacting and throwing shit at the guy because of how furious they are with him. It's understandable to be mad at the guy if you're one of those types of people that don't like to be filmed, but god damn, trying to kill the guy is a complete overreaction.

Of course, but just because it is not on the same level does not mean it is acceptable. I am just thinking of how much I would be bothered by someone like him and therefore I feel for the people in the videos.
And seriously some of these people need to chill, it reminds me of this time back in high school where some girl threatened to sue me just because half of her face was showing in a group picture I took of my friends in a classroom before I graduated, some of these people are probably just extremely insecure and it really shows on cam.

i do the exact same thing the difference is that i don't do it in a creepy fucking manner and my friends aren't, you know, total strangers trying to go about their lives. it's even about not liking to be filmed, it's about all of a sudden some fucking man just starts following you with a goddamn camera and is completely unresponsive like what
personally i would fear more for my safety, i don't like people fucking following me or invading my fucking space. it's called having boundaries

i honestly wouldn't call any of these overreactions. it seems to me that everyone on his side is thinking the same sorta "well he just has a camera" but the reason people get angry is because it potentially says a lot about the person in like 2 seconds. it's not just "oh he's recording", it's more like "a mysterious man has just come up right next to me with a camera and is completely unresponsive when i ask him what he's doing", which leads me to suspect that he's probably an asshole with some sort of malicious intent
plus i mean what is so wrong about wanting to be left alone and getting angry when that want isn't being respected? i mean, he even fucking comes back to the same spots to do it. it's basically another version of "lol i'm not touching you"

This hits the nail on the head. It's one thing to be recorded by a stranger with a camera, but it's a whole other thing when the stranger's acting like a fucking sociopath about it. Like, just look at the difference in that video from 7/11, even the one from 2014. Those guys are enthusiastic and having spirited conversations and engaging with the people they're recording, and the people might be a little put off by it but they're accepting of it because the guy recording is clearly just having a good time and they know their likeness won't be exploited.

Eh, I guess it comes down to whoever it is really, I'm one of those people who would laugh it off as weird as that may sound. Obviously there'd be a point in where I'd be worried, but that'd only be if I got a bad read on the guy and he legit looked like he was up to no good and had a creepy vibe to him. Then again I'm not really one to have my own boundaries since I'm so used to traveling about and dealing with people who react to certain things differently because of culture, etc. Hell, people already find me weird enough for being ok with the idea of staying in a hostel room with twelve other people in the same room and sacrificing my own privacy to stay somewhere cheap (even though it can be rather nice at times, even better than a hotel imo). And some of my more introverted friends find the concept of taking pictures of random strangers (no malicious intent involved obviously since I do photography) strange and sometimes creepy. In reality the only reason why I have to do things like that without people knowing is because even if I did get an extremely nice picture and I told them, they'd threaten to sue me and try to delete the picture, I imagine it's the same for most other photographers as well since you're trying to get candid shots and you can't ruin the shot. Sure this guy filming people randomly and not respecting their private space might be a bit odd, but I'm fairly certain he doesn't bother with people who just pass on by and don't give an interesting reaction, which is why I would say most of these people overreacted. That's why if I were in their shoes, I'd probably test the waters first with the guy before automatically assuming he was going to murder me or something crazy like that. You can't just bring up conflict because of a silly generalization like that.
if you have any experience with bullies or people who are just trying to get a reaction you should know not to let them get the best of you. of course id kinda be pissed and confused but i would just smile and walk away and make for really boring footage
