At this point I rarely watch the game grump episode anymore, I just leave the video on and listen to them while doing something else. Kinda sad really

Grumps appear to be in a bit of a slump with their fans. Hope this isn't some kind of "beginning of the end" shit or something
Grumps appear to be in a bit of a slump with their fans. Hope this isn't some kind of "beginning of the end" shit or something
Well, the circle has to end somewhere. They've been doing this for about half a year now.
Well, the circle has to end somewhere. They've been doing this for about half a year now.
Christ, has it really been that long?
According to their channel, they started in July.
Personally some of the reasons I haven't really watched GameGrumps all that much recently are 1, I haven't seen all that many Grump playthroughs that really interested me; 2, I don't have as much time to watch a lot of vids like that anymore; and 3, I guess the whole lack of progress thing and staggering ignorance kinda put me off. Don't get me wrong; I think JonTron is amazing, and Ego seems like a cool guy too, but when you overlook instructions because you're too busy telling some weird story, it can be a bit painful to watch someone stumble around in ignorance. But hey, at least most of the time it's the bumbling kind of ignorance rather than wilful ignorance. Y'know, the kind where you deliberately avoid important information because you don't want to know? The kind of ignorance that is the ultimate bane of sentience? Personally I'm kinda glad that the Grumps don't indulge that too heavily, even though Milky Way Wishes was essentially Ironmanned because Mr Jafari didn't know how to shift forms. (no he wasn't being me; he don't even know me and I don't even do Let's Plays) Anyways, rant over; personally I still prefer Jon doing JonTrons rather than TBFPing it up with Arin, even though they make a somewhat appealing double-act. Also, I wasn't necessarily referencing the Two Best Friends Play series with the whole TBFP thing; I was referencing that particular cooperative facet of LPing wherein two friends play a game together, be it with both controlling different guys, each player taking turns to control the guy, or one player being the actual player whilst the other one rides shotgun and acts like a spotter and foil to the main player.
Grumps appear to be in a bit of a slump with their fans. Hope this isn't some kind of "beginning of the end" shit or something
I wouldn't call it a slump, I still enjoy their videos as much as I ever did. I think people just get a bit moody after some controversy. Hopefully they will start another series that can match '06 or Goof Troop soon.
Speaking about controversy, I still don't remember the exact specifics behind TB's falling out with JonTron. I know that apparently JonTron "burned a few bridges" by saying certain things about King Of The Web winners, but I don't think I ever learned what things he ended up saying. Does anyone remember what he said about the KotW guys, or is it best to keep those bad things somewhat buried? Also was he drunk when he said that stuff; in my opinion that would be a very important factor in the matter.
I'm also getting real tired of the whole "let's talk about random shit for half the episode okay now where are we what are we doing this game is dumb it doesn't tell you where to go" shit.
I honestly think the Jon and Arin are at their best when they are playing games that they are mostly familiar with or at least one of them is. Goof Troop, Kirby, Banjo, Aladdin, Megaman, and Donkey Kong are my personal favorites, mainly because they are games that at least one or both of them know how to play, and don't spend half of some episodes figuring out how a game works because neither of them have any knowledge of it. It's similar to what Total Biscuit said about Let's Plays and how he believes, with a few exceptions, that most good LPs are ones when the players have knowledge of the game already. So I'm kind of hoping that they start playing Super Metroid or a Zelda game soon because those are games that they both like and have knowledge of. [editline]20th February 2013[/editline] Though, I wouldn't mind if games they aren't familiar with would be one-offs. Inspector Gadget and Mary-Kate & Ashley are examples.
eugh just stop talking about it
just because it was discussed in the last few pages doesn't mean everybody was involved in the discussion
I want them to play Shadow of the Colossus. They can talk about random shit during the travelling sections and then discuss the game more during the actual boss fights.
why is this thread so dramatic
ggs didnt talk about a single thing in the sonic video aww man
Well, Jon did mention that the level had a floor.
i really hope they play Metal Gear Rising because this game is fucking fun as hell and entertaining to watch
i really hope they play Metal Gear Rising because this game is fucking fun as hell and entertaining to watch
From what I've heard it's also really short. Easy risk to take, could easily finish.
why is this thread so dramatic
Because it's a forum, we discuss things. People discuss and critique things they like. The drama is proof of love, not hate like everyone wants to think.
From what I've heard it's also really short. Easy risk to take, could easily finish.
Metal Gear Solid games are usually short. Not counting game overs and cutscenes, a normal first time through takes around four hours for most games. The replayability is through the roof though.
From what I've heard it's also really short. Easy risk to take, could easily finish.
Unless they play on hard mode.
From what I've heard it's also really short. Easy risk to take, could easily finish.
it only counts the combat and the shortest time you took on a stage so the campaign is really like 12 hours
Funnily enough the grumps picked up 2x their normal subscriber rate on tuesday and on saturday the 16th, they grabbed like 3x their normal channel views. Maybe good publicity, who knows.
From what I've heard it's also really short. Easy risk to take, could easily finish.
The "4 hour finish" only counted total time to finish the gameplay part of missions. Didn't count cutscenes or menus. Not sure if it counted respawning (like you play for ten minutes, die, get set back 5 minutes, get back to previous point and it only counts ten minutes rather than fifteen).
snip, i misheard either way, I'm jealous of people that are friends with either of the Grumps.

That's apparently one of the ways you gotta get yourself out there on YouTube. You mean using the ending of a video for point people to another video? yea that's one of the main points of the YT guide book. I'm honestly surprised GG doesn't have a static background with like. "Subscribe" "Check out the next video" "Check out this other series" etc. Not that they need it, they are pulling in enough traffic for all three to live comfortably assuming they are getting the kind of CPM numbers I'm imagining.
That's what I meant by Barry "advertising like a shameless whore"; maybe he pulled some strings by word of mouth or something. Also the whole "advertise like shameless whores" thing is a thing Jesse started. He explained it better in one of his Q&As a while back; I forget which one, but he still made some good points. Anyone who doesn't know him, look up Jesse Cox or OMFGCata for his kinda stuff; he tends to go singleplayer Let's Plays, and he actually has kind of a good personality. He's also known for being kind of a lootwhore in games like Skyrim and Dead Space and I think FarCry 3; basically he instinctively picks up all the stuff he can see. Anyways, I've probably said enough about other TGS dudes, back to Grumps; speaking of the whole "sub/check my other vids", Jon does that in his own vids, and from what I see it certainly works for him.
god this game is boring to watch
