they're objectively better than anything the dumbshit devs of BMS ever did in their lives they ruined a classic game and should have been driven out of the community for it
Jeeze you are salty It was a free mod and lots of people were happy with it, and if anything it got people to revisit the original too even if it ended up being something you didn't like, it's not like it replaced the original game for anyone
The part where you were left clueless after watching Freeman fly really hits my sides.
I figure now's the time to post some actual critique.
What you did well: Shots are generally well done, especially the opening shot. Strong start Audio is well done, good attention to detail Gags look to be well thought out Good easter eggs Placement of objects in the environment is well thought out, good overall attention to detail in the environments Good camera control for the most part Good lighting with a couple of exceptions What can be improved: Animation is inconsistent Timing of the plot needs work When Gordon grabs his revolver at the beginning, the revolver moves before it is grabbed. A way to fix this is to learn how to toggle parenting (I don't remember what it is actually called in SFM, but that's what it's called in Maya). Weak ending (see general comments for more information) Camera movement seems too floaty at times. When working with cameras, try to make it seem like something that could be achieved by an actual person manning the camera. Gags get repetitive Lighting at 4:44 (inside the tram) is weird Watch out for hyper extension when working with IK Speaking of IK, there are times when it is obvious that you are using it. Be sure to blend between IK and FK when appropriate There are problems with sliding, be sure to watch the feet. When moving a character that is using a cycle, be sure to animate the root in such a way that each foot plants solidly without sliding and peels off in the same way Be sure to not re-use footage When doing a close up, do not use your editing software to zoom in. Manipulate the camera to be closer. General comments: When you are working on something, the way to entertain the greatest number of people is have a group of people that you can share your progress with as you are working on it. Write up a script, work on storyboards, and make an animatic. Share these with people who are willing to critique it. Talk to them about the pace of the story, work out timing, etc... Ask for input. Sometimes something seems like a good idea when you think about it, but it may not be. Ask other people if they think it'll work. If someone is being a constant kiss ass, find someone else to talk to. The kiss ass will love anything you put out there, and is bad for advice. This animation had a strong start, but a weak finish. Part of this is due to timing. As mentioned in the mini-brick above, input is important. For someone who is starting out, the ending is the hardest thing to do well. My advice: do the ending first! The ending is not something you want to mess up (Mass Effect 3). To improve your camera work, think of the camera as an actual camera. Also, watch a lot of movies and take notes so you can know examples of good (and bad) camera work. As far as animation goes, purchase (or "obtain") "The Animator's Survival Kit" by Richard Williams. It will help you out a lot. You can get it for $22.37 currently on Amazon.com, but you can get it for cheaper elsewhere. Get ahold of it, it'll help you tremendously. I cannot stress this enough! Watch plenty of SFM tutorials to master the program as much as you can, and also be sure to play around with all aspects of SFM on your own. Who knows, maybe you'll find something out that others don't know yet.
If anyone else has something to add, be sure to do so constructively. Don't just say shit like "that sucks lol".
I love you guys! You all rule! [editline]edited:[/editline] :')
Yea man, its really good. I knew you a long time ago and would have never guessed you could end up doing something so well made. Not saying that in a rude way, just amazed at how much you've changed.
Honestly it wasn't that funny.
What's the point of posts like this? I didn't care for the video either, but throwing substanceless "meh" posts at it like it's objectively unfunny is just fucking useless.
If this was your first fully completed project, it´s decent i guess. Tho there is still room for improvement (but then again, where isn´t?).
Didn't like it that much overall, but the epilogue cracked me up.
