You realize the jump from 1 million polygons to 2 million is a almost unnoticable jump where as the jump we had in 2003 -2005 was a huge massive jump in comparison? these games didn't come out of vacuums, they're created by the technological limits of the tech at the time.
I'm surprised no one posted this picture. [t]http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/3/32776/2486940-0248877224-ChsSw.png[/t] That being said, I don't know what to think about this game. Having not played Destiny (don't own a console), I have no idea how Destiny compares to Borderlands 2, but this game looks basically like Borderlands 2 with a different skin and a few variations, such as the Base of Operations and the abilities (or at least turrets) having perks. Honestly, from what I could see from the video that Super Muffin posted, it feels like a sort of cross of Borderlands 2 combat and loot mechanics, with Xcom's base-building. All of which isn't to say it looks bad, but I just don't know what to think of it. What I can say, though, is I hope the game has some goddamn dynamics to it. Borderlands 2 is great fun the first time you play through it went friends. It gets old really fucking fast by the sixth character you make, though, because everything is exactly the same every time. The Dark Zone sounds intriguing, though. I'm not one for PvP in RPGs, but if I end up getting this game, I might just give it a spin. So long as how I understand it is correct: dying in the Dark Zone means you only lose what all you gained in the Dark Zone. If that is the case, then I might actually enjoy it. I personally hate PvP RPGs like DayZ where you can spend hours going through PvE stuff to get loot, only to have some asshat pop a cap in your ass and take it. But if the only loot you can lose in the Dark Zone is loot you can gain in the Dark Zone, then in my mind, it's a net-zero sum - you can't go into the Dark Zone and come out with less than what you started. The worst case scenario is you leave with exactly what you came in with - you can only do better. That's how I personally like PvP in RPGs.

It's a major reason why going into the Dark Zone solo is a bad idea. If you kill another player they drop their items. If they don't fight back and you kill them when they're not rogue they still lose their items.

What I meant is you always lose your items, but you lose dark zone exp in addition to the items if you're a rogue agent when you die.
So is this going to be another "take all of these exotic weapons into an apocalypse and find all the ammo you need along the way" - type apocalyptic game? Or are we just seeing your standard closed-testing balancing?
