but judge and generalize all white people
It's a satire, if you saw the movie you would know this
Am I the only one who noticed that right after the "Netflix" title shows up in the first couple of seconds, all the other letters leave so "Netflix" turns into a nice big "N"?

Very Nice
Yep, this sort of show is just more ammunition for the Alt-Right propaganda machine, as is clearly shown in his comment, which is never a good thing, this sort of shit only empowers them.
And as I said will only further Racism on both sides.
:speechless:
Exactly?
That's the point, clearly were not post-racial, even though some people like to think we are.
they have to be doing it on purpose at this point
i am so fucking sick of this anti-white crap going around. not because it's directed towards white people, but because it's so fucking ass-backwards
i mean on face value it looks retarded but alledgely the movie is good
It's a satire, if you saw the movie you would know this
The problem is its very easy to see this trailer as playing it straight.
The problem is its very easy to see this trailer as playing it straight.
I imagine most people didn't actually watch the trailer. It has "white people" in the title and that's all people need to be upset.

This is as anti-white as boondocks is anti-black. It's not and is purely comedy and satire.

I did, and while i got a certain impression of it being satirical, i can see how people can think of it not being the case.
The title doesnt help either.

Unfortunately many people actually do think of the Boondocks as anti-white/anti-black. Satire that deals with race in any capacity gets judged at surface value.
It's weird how people regularly jump on other races as a supposed monolithic whole for finding anything offensive, despite reacting the exact same way to something they personally find offensive.

Yeah I'll totally concede it wasn't a good pick. It's a reshoot of the movie's opening scene.
I'd rather not use a platform that pushes political and social views. I watch Netflix to relax, not get wound up.

So just don't watch it?
I feel like people are so up in arms over this, saying it's an anti-white show. Despite the fact that one of the major plot points of the movie it's based on is the fact that this black girl is shamed for acting "too white" and shamed for having a white boyfriend by Black people. It's totally about both sides and the craziness of extremism.

After watching this trailer for the movie, I'm a lot more informed about what the series will probably be. If it's anything like the movie, it's poking fun at both white and black people, if not even more at black social justice warriors. So basically Youtube commenters don't know anything and the series will probably be worth a shot.

Was hoping for this:

This does look kind of interesting if it means to mock both sides of the extreme, the white guilt party and the black rewrite the definition of racism so we can be racist without getting called racist party.
I am homewer ready for never ever seeing Dear Asian People, or Dear Latino People, or Dear Black People, because that would fucking KILL with controversy.
What a race baiting title for a show
lets have a dear black people movie/show and watch the media throw an absolute shitstorm over it
thats exactly what this is
its satirising racial/social justice movements from all sides, not just the one as the title implies
I think they could've gone with a better series name. One that doesn't make people jump to conclusions as soon as they see it.
I think they could've gone with a better series name. One that doesn't make people jump to conclusions as soon as they see it.
Maybe we should be holding people accountable for jumping to dumb, uninformed conclusions instead

You cant realistically expect everyone who watches this trailer to be aware of the original movie, right?
The trailer itself has some undertones of satire but its not immediately obvious, and the title isnt exactly unlike a lot of shitty article names as of late.

I didn't say I was expecting people to be aware, though? I'm saying if they want to jump to dumb conclusions, I'll be blaming their shit assessment skills more than anything. And I fully expect most people to jump to dumb conclusions

How is it shit assessment skills when the trailer is literally portraying racism against whites?
How is it shit assessment skills when the trailer is literally portraying racism against whites?
Really? In what way does this paint black people as superior to whites?
:snip:
If it's a satire, it's already doing a good job.
