lol netflix is gonna lose so many viewers because of this
Yes because people will give that much of a fuck to not be able view their shows.
I think the main issue is the title. It sounds very pretentious and off putting to someone who isn't informed on what this actually is. I'm assuming others are the same way. [editline]9th February 2017[/editline] Plus they wont even watch the trailer
I completely see it from that point of view... if you don't even bother watching the trailer or taking a moment to figure out it's satire.. it's hardly a good excuse that people are just too stupid to take the time to even watch the damn trailer and instead just decide to brandish boycotts and accusations of racism without even knowing what is in the content they're so mad about
Wasn't there a clip made by MTV under the same name that was actually serious and not satire?
I completely see it from that point of view... if you don't even bother watching the trailer or taking a moment to figure out it's satire.. it's hardly a good excuse that people are just too stupid to take the time to even watch the damn trailer and instead just decide to brandish boycotts and accusations of racism without even knowing what is in the content they're so mad about
As i said earlier, i can completely see someone mistaking this for being played straight given the past few years. Of course, no real excuse for the people in this thread, where its been pointed out its based on a film and both are satirical, but im more referring to joe schmoe. [editline]8th February 2017[/editline] Doing some googling, it looks like a bunch of people, you know, those people (including some sites), are also taking it seriously and thinks its playing it straight as well.

To each their own I guess.
The title of the show reminds me of that one YouTuber who made a video called Dear Fat People
Where's the "Dear Trump Voters" trailer?
Prime example here of people freaking the fuck out on the internet over something they have not taken the time to actually understand. Anti-SJW youtubers are bashing it, its the highest upvoted posted on r/the_donald, and everyone is just showing how ignorant they are. The point where people who are making it their work to pick apart sjws perpetually taking offence to things is now reversed. Those people are now taking offence to shit even when it's not warranted. It's satire!
Life is satire now
Actual satire should probably be designated a new name. You know, just so people can tell the difference now lol
Guys, this is probably a silly question but this thread set off some weird thought pattern for me. Hypothetically, a white person "identified" as a black person(like how people identify as animals). Is black face or "culture appropriation" acceptable then? This is a legitimate question, I'm not trying to stir.
i am so fucking sick of this anti-white crap going around. not because it's directed towards white people, but because it's so fucking ass-backwards
I love how the Alt Right have basically become what they hated, easily triggered snowflakes

This is a legitimate question, I'm not trying to stir.
You cannot "identify" as a race you are not and that's a widely accepted POV, even from people like other kin. Animals don't care about their social status. They don't have "identities" in the way people do. If a person of a blatantly different race is identifying as another, that in and of itself is a form of very bizzare appropriation. [editline]9th February 2017[/editline] And is also a worrying personality disorder probably. [editline]9th February 2017[/editline] But that's not "cultural" appropriation so much as racial appropriation. You have to remember that race and culture aren't the same thing.
Is that hard to just not watch a show? Is unsubscribing to Netflix really going to do anything? The whole premise of it looks entirely pretentious, so just don't watch it if you're triggered by it.
Ironic shitposting is still shitposting.
In earth 2 where the show is called "Dear SJWs" everyone says it's just satire and it has over x200 Funny ratings. Anti-SJWs praise it and it's the highest upvoted post in r/the_Donald. People on Facepunch say they watched it and was actually funny and people are just oversensitive nowadays.

oh man, so a model friend of mine got hired to be in this as a white girl dressed black, she's just briefly in the trailer at 19 seconds [t]http://i.imgur.com/oHXkN96.png[/t] I saw some photos of the full thing (digging for it now) but I feel the fashion team went way too good with it for 'girl attending a blackface party' or whatever the role was funny thing is she's mostly asian and latina, but has really fair skin. People tend to shit on her for doing anything culturally significant thinking she's a white girl appropriating shit with no knowledge her [del]agent[/del] booking service put her on the job without telling her what she was in for first, explicitly because it was a touchy subject and (no shit) most people would turn the job away just reading it. She wasn't happy since it's obviously one of those things that could put a sour fucking note on your career if it doesn't go over well, but says she had fun once she was on set and everybody was cool [editline]e[/editline] [t]http://68.media.tumblr.com/656237cd762f1f6966d24ead8ea81e51/tumblr_odat65wSFG1qd1hleo1_500.jpg[/t] [t]http://68.media.tumblr.com/68b720b191e19f2f5f08d12e4edb7463/tumblr_odzhzddWxb1qd1hleo1_1280.jpg[/t]

"dear sjws" would make sense of this was "dear alt right" or something. Also, i generally agree with keeping an author's personal politics away from their work but considering his work i think it's relevant. Unless he's going for the milo troll image maybe he shouldn't be making racist comments on twitter https://twitter.com/JackPMoore/status/796217116319883264
After watching this trailer for the movie, I'm a lot more informed about what the series will probably be. If it's anything like the movie, it's poking fun at both white and black people, if not even more at black social justice warriors. So basically Youtube commenters don't know anything and the series will probably be worth a shot.[/ The atmosphere around the subject is so toxic that making satire about it is still insensitive

The writers portray her as a white girl 'culturally appropriating' black people with the dreadlocks. Except they threw in ankh earings, which signify an Egyptian heritage. Whats most notable about this is that sjws believe that dread locks are a cultural appropriation of black people. Dreadlocks originated from ancient Egypt. Very nice touch by the writers. It's the kind of subtlety that will go over most viewers heads no doubt.
Yeah but Egypt is in Africa so it's still stealing from Africa. And Africa = black people or something somehow.
Its still destroying the stereotype that equates dreadlocks to black people.

Pure speculation obviously but i wonder is the twitter racism is just an act or is there someone else sneaking these things in under this writer's nose?
Its still destroying the stereotype that equates dreadlocks to black people.
Like I said, if you're stealing from Egyptians that's still "African culture" so you're still stealing from black people.
It's a satire, if you saw the movie you would know this
you think this writer for the television show will treat it as just satire? before anyone says "but the tweet is satire", you can check out the rest of the account if you'd like. something tells me the tv series will not be quite like the movie.
