He isn't playing a character. He even lost custody of his children because of it.
Oh damn, really?
I really thought he was playing a character considering his absurdal statements such as "chemicals turning the frogs gay" and the ones stated in this video.

He doesn't just blurt those things out in his actual videos, he builds up to them by starting with vague allusions to "we're losing our freedom to corporate systems of control" or talking about general geopolitics, then he moves on to cherrypicked articles and statistics to build a basis for it and suck you in, THEN he starts blurting out the insane stuff. In context it makes a lot more sense, or at least you can understand the chain of thought leading up to it.
Case in point, toxic runoff from chemical plants does cause mutations in fish. Random mutations can lead to malformed sex organs in animals (which is a major concern because it is causing depopulation because schools of fish are becoming infertile).
Of course this has nothing to do with sexuality, frogs (all of the examples of malformed sex organs in mutated animals due to toxic runoff have been fish) or Barack Obama, but in the mind of Alex Jones malformed sex organs/infertility equals "turning gay", fish equals frogs and every bad thing in the history of humanity is caused by Obama, hence "Obama turned the frickin frogs gay with chemicals".

It's kinda like someone crushed down the timescale of the general crypto-facist methodology of indoctrinating people. You start of with something general and agreeable, but with no real bias ("we're losing our freedom to corporate systems of control", something that you can justify from any viewpoint compared to something along the lines of "our society is sick, our culture is being eroded" a common crypto-facist entry point to justify hating the Other), and slowly move into your more real beliefs hoping that those who agreed with your initial statements are still there.
You're meant to do this process over the course of a fairly long discourse normally so nobody notices the slide into insanity as they've been agreeing with you in the most general sense for the longest time. But Alex just fucking goes for it, dives head first into the crazy cave and goes from zero to "batshit fuckin nutso" in mere minutes at most.
What the fuck, it's even worse since he has the british EDL leader on his show:
