As much as a nice concept this is, it's full of shit. Honestly, half of what this guy is saying is big words thrown about to make stupid people think he knows what he's doing. He's smart in that regard, but it's a lie. Too bad, but there was that other guy who made a really nice voxel engine, which was legit.
But it's not a lie, you're denying something that has been proven more than it has ever been disproven :v: Bruce Dell has demonstrated this technology to multiple companies, and even a journalist (watch the video I posted. How does one fake that?), and none of them have criticised it. Why? Because it's actually a real thing. I guess there's no way I'll be able to convince you, but I'll be sure to look back at this thread when his technology gets widely used.
Oh, so this is this year's update? Cool. Hopefully we'll get more frequent updates because they've been releasing one single update for like three years every year.
Okay, I was going, "uh huh, whatever" with this whole thing, even past the USB drive deal. Then he mentions the "online streaming," where you can load a model from another computer directly into the program with zero download time! Bullshit You can bust my balls with technobabble all you like, but exactly how does the data GET there without a download? Magic? You can tell me that the thing minimizes the process to streaming so tiny it barely takes up any bandwidth, but don't insult my fucking intelligence. Short of quantum entanglement, that just doesn't fucking happen. Oh also, I DO own a pair of analaglyph 3d glasses that I keep on my desk,. And while the 3D exhibited certainly wasn't bad, it's not exactly "better than I'm used to." And what's this shit about "we update the 3d every frame to give you the best experience?" As opposed to what, the 3d solution that DOESN'T update every frame to keep it all consistent? That's like telling me you have a renderer that's "so much better" because it actually gives you a new picture in every frame! No fucking shit, otherwise it wouldn't be ANIMATION now WOULD it?! Fuck me, these guys mention "multi-modal reflection-sorting" and I'm DONE.

Most of what this guy is saying defies all of what computers are. Some of the things are there, like taking tiny strings of data from a file, and using it to build a world. I can believe that now, since the newer versions of Photoshop can do that. Which I also thought was completely unbelievable until I actually saw and did it. But as for loading a file and completely negating ram, or any other form of processor, and using JUST the hard drive to render the world, I find completely unbelievable. Sorry for being skeptical, but when I actually see it, I'll believe it. I do hope that it is real though. The implications of this engine are incredible.

I can actually believe that they have an implementation working, but the guy talking doesn't seem like someone who knows how the program actually works (even though he wrote it I think), and therefore doesn't give a very good or realistic explanation. This video just makes it seem that their "magic algorithm" makes everything work instantly.
You people don't really know what you're talking about do you?
You people don't really know what you're talking about do you?
I have not a clue the words I say or do
You people don't really know what you're talking about do you?
The Procedural World guy did a blog post on this stuff: http://procworld.blogspot.ca/2013/05/euclideon-geoverse-2013.html
It seems they put their tech to good use. Their island demo was very nice, and now this is one of the best point cloud visualization I have seen so far. Is it groundbreaking or revolutionary? No. There is plenty of this going around. But this is good stuff. This announcement may be very disappointing to some people who may have taken their past claims literally. Two years ago they said they had made computer game graphics 100,000 better. They would show you screenshots from Crysis and explain how bad all this was compared to their new thing. Panties were thrown all over the internet. The reality is today this still ranks below the latest iterations of CryEngine, Unreal Engine and id's Tech 5. It even ranks below previous versions of those engines. Actually I do not think you can make a game with this at all. If you want to have the texture density you have on screen in most games, you would need to store far more information than what they have in the demos shown here. It is a perfect match for the state of laser scanning, where you do not have much detail to begin with. They are not showing grains of dirt anymore, that is for sure. The real improvement in the last two years? The hype levels are a lot lower.
So basically, they shouldn't have been catering to gamers in the first place. Their tech just isn't really useful for games at the moment.

Let's wait until more information is released. No need for more arguing.
they don't understand indexing
This google place sounds like a scam. Searching the internet in nearly an instant? pssh its impossible to go through that much info that fast.
Googles reverse image search can be compared more directly actually. It searches through thousands of trillions of points, or pixels, to find a combination of pixels that matches the input image. .. And it does it in less than a second.
Just making a little note here, since some people think they can speak on behalf of other companies, saying that they switched over to the geospatial industry and won't continue with the gaming industry etc. In an interview with Bruce Dell, initiated by some students, Bruce explains that they needed to make a product to sell, so that they could get money for developing their game graphics engine (or whatever you would call it?). I can't be bothered finding that interview on youtube right now, but it should be easy to find, it's from 2013. Just let me know and I'll find it again if anyone's interrested. :) Bruce was also asked about animations, and he replied that when they show it off to the public, it will be "the best animations that you have ever seen". Very exciting :)
Here is the latest demo. Imagine a game using this. Notice the trees swaying?
Wait I was running this on my computer, this is that unlimited detail shit and I never knew? It ran so smooth...
That is just another unigine dx11 tech demo/stress test and the video was uploaded way back in march.
There must be some dumb limitation we're just not seeing, something really simple like collision or physics.

This is regular polygon stuff. Way to necrobump a thread with misinformation.

I just went with the video's title thinking it was the unlimited detail engine. It looked good at first. I later ran the video on my 65 inch cause for some reason my laptop was rendering it at a lower resolution and was caching too much. When I saw the rocks and grass just appear from nowhere (LOD), I then realized that this wasn't the Euclideon unlimited detail engine. I came back to delete my original post to only find out that a bunch of people already commented on it with a least one person finding it a perfect opportunity to be a complete a** and to bump his ego.

Secondly, in the description of the video it states it's by Unigine. Not checking to see if this product is from Euclideon and automatically basing it as such is only the fault of your blind excitement, so you're partially at fault for misconception. Thirdly, want to know a reason for the hostility? People were excited to see a thread about this company and thought that some progress had been made by them, only to find a guy posting a video by a completely different developer team. Accept the harsh words and get over your own failure. It's good that you realized it by yourself, that this video is not from Euclideon and you came back to snip your post, but don't do the blame act and assume the "perfect opportunity" bullshit after you've been caught out a day before.
