Pranks while sleeping are nice and all, but for the victim it can feel like a major breach of trust you have in other people (especially when you were hurt in the process), since you were at your most vulnerable.
To me the funniest pranks were the ones where you wake someone up and put them in a seemingly urgent situation to confuse the hell out of them, like the Russian one with the closet.

Someone is deep asleep. You move them carefully into a coffin, you close the coffin and you put something heavy on the lid. Bang on the coffin hard then start shovelling dirt all over it- not actually burying, just throwing dirt at it.

during a halloween party me and the host pulled that on a couple of our friends, they were just kinda sitting in another room chilling out watching something and having a few drinks and we basically got some guys to run in with us and be like "holy shit guys the cops are pulling in grab your fucking stuff come on come on"
got them outside and locked them out there, arguably the funniest things i've seen

cops are fucking terrifying when you're altered, and the concept of cops busting in or having to deal with them when you're just trying to have a good time with your mates is even worse
I'm not against pranks, but they shouldn't involve things with a degree of severity like making someone think they're gonna get fucking busted, that's just cruel
I laughed at a couple, but the air horn and firecracker ones ain't funny at all to me. A noise such as those so close to the ear no matter how brief, can really fuck someones hearing for life. It's not cool doing shit like that.

once, at a friends house spending the night, there was a mattress on the floor of my friend's room that i used when i fell asleep. there were a lot of people at the house for a party, and most of these guys needed to stay the night. there were about 4-5 guys in my friend's room and another 4-5 guys out in the main room of the basement. as me and some of the guys were falling asleep already in my friend's room, the others couldn't find a spot to lie down in the main room. i thought nothing of it until i woke up 3 hours later to find one of my friends had laid two couch cushions out on top of me and fell asleep there. i tapped him on the head and said "dude, what the fuck?" and he turned over, we stared at each other for about 10 seconds then both went back to bed.
i flipped him into the wall when i woke up the next morning.
