Lego Worlds- It's Like Minecraft But With Terraforming

Saw a few negative reviews that were down right stupid.
One disliked it because there were no weapons. That's a lie. He just didn't look.
One disliked it because the Lego bricks looked like plastic and didn't have textures.
The rest, well have fun reading.
Anyway I wonder if we're getting this because Lego Dimensions is console only.
if you could build vehicles in this game on the scale of robocraft/space engineers this would be the lego defining lego game
sad that you can't though
Building vehicles will be in later.
I want a modern Lego Creator please.
Bought it out of curiosity. Outside of the very poor performance (which I did not expect to be quite this bad, honestly), it's got potential. Building could use a better camera, but you can still create pieces relatively easily. It however needs a lot of polish, a some drastic optimization, and movable parts (hinges, gears, etc) as well as vehicle building to really be interesting.
Right now this basically feels like a minecraft ersatz where it's easier to modify the world and building can be a lot more precise thanks to smaller pieces.
Oh and you can ride a Husky

I remember in Blockland you could turn blocks into buttons and have them alter the properties of other blocks when pressed. If they added something like that to this I would instabuy.
I wonder if it will have any Lego Technic parts. I'm a huge fan of mechanisms made of Lego :o
ill buy it if i can play as one of those skeletons, those have been my fav minifig for years

You can play as a skeleton as soon as you've beaten one in game (takes about a two minutes of exploring to find one, as far as I've seen they're a very common enemy type).

fuck yeah buying this shit
But can you set up AI wars?
THAT is what I did with my legos.

You mean the events and triggers? Yeah, that feature was pretty neat.
Man, got some powerful nostalgia for Return to Blockland.
The way I see it, if you are a big fan of LEGOS or games where you can build stuff then it is worth the $15. Otherwise it would be better to wait for the multiplayer to be incorporated.

Event system. In Blockland, thanks to this event system, every single block's properties can be altered and some code can be assigned via a nice UI. I remember I set up a lot of AI battles with vehicle spawn block, but you also could stuff like car changing colours randomly after spawning, click this block and other block disappears, passcode systems and etc.
This is why we need this game to have event system and build sharing:

It's pretty much a console LEGO video game except without limits.
Seems like it would get stale eventually, like CW did. LDD support and eventual multiplayer makes it feel a little bit more like Blockland, though, and if this game includes weapons then it's probably going to be seen as the shining gem of 2015.
Oh my god I fell in absolute love when the cars were falling out of the sky at like 23:30, probably buying this
About time! I've wanted a game like this for years, I dont think I would've left the house if I had this game and my legos

Title pretty much sums it up. But yeah it's a Steam Early Access game, so there's that as well.
I usually stay away from early access because I got fucked bigtime with Wreckfest, but seeing how Lego World is going the same route as Dirt Rally, you can't go wrong.

Pssssssh.
No, this is.

If this has proper vehicle building and workshop support I would instabuy.

Both are coming in the future. Along with Online Multiplayer.
LEGO fans rejoice! We've been waiting for a game like this for years. I have a lot of faith TT will pull this off. I usually don't trust early access, but none of their games have disappointed me thus far, and I'm way too much of a LEGO fanboy to pass this up. The potential for this game is massive. The fact that LEGO has bricks of varying shapes and sizes could make this a better building game than Minecraft I think. Especially if they add Technic and Mindstorm. Then we could have automated anything. Oh god, I can't wait to see where this goes.
I JUST REALIZED I CAN LOOK UP SET INSTRUCTIONS ONLINE AND BUILD THEM IN GAME. HOLY SHIT.

I hope it's more than cars. Spaceship or boat building would be pretty epic. (also if you have like the serial number to a set you can import it would be sweet. That way you can encourage people to buy sets, and the sets you have you can do stuff with them)
it's pretty cool how accurate this is to authentic plastic
you can really see where pieces meet and really get a feeling of how they're connected due to the shaders/reflection/lighting/bumpmapping/etc
everything has a genuine size as well, it's a genuine sense of scale
the best thing is that despite how 'limited' the blocks are everything actually looks like it should (IE trees)

you could make instructions using this game
simply take step by step images and gif the 'one by one' parts together, and the notable ones as full images with arrows etc
Doesn't look like there is much to the game except...building. Which I guess fits lego a lot.
Looks fun for a while, but it looks like I would get bored easily just like Minecraft.

Am I the only one that thought this song was a criticism of homogeneous pop culture and music and then found it really ironic when everyone went around singing it as if it was the shit?

That actually looks kind of sweet, to be honest. I'll wait for some more content for sure but if that's the out of the blue early access build it looks promising
If they add vehicles and technic mechanisms it'll be fucking amazing. I've had stuff in my head for years that I wanted to do but never had the right pieces since I'm not a billionaire and haven't really touched Lego in a long time.
Looks like it has a lot of potential, I really like how well rendered the individual bricks are, I'd expect such stuff to require high-performance builds so there must be some kind of optimization magic going on.
A few limitations that I really hope they eventually overcome though:
- Brick selection: Right now it seems you can only use basic blocks when building in-game, as opposed to something like LDD which offers a satisfying choice (although it's still only a fraction of the tens of thousands of different brick types you can find in the real sets - Not sure though, it's been a long time since I last used it). This is kind of alleviated by the fact you can apparently import LDD models, but it would be better if they simply integrated LDD or a similar system directly inside the game, which I suppose they'll do eventually.
- Interactivity: One thing they'll need to pull off is to enable players to 'program' their creations so that they can be used as something more than static buildings or objects. If they add a way to create vehicles later on that will cover the basics but they'll need to add a basic 'behavior' system like they did in Lego Universe to enable us to do stuff like elevators, trains, sliding doors etc.
- The terrain-shaping tools they have seem rather neat, but I don't think I've seen a slider to adjust their size. Maybe I just didn't see it. Anyway that's certainly something they'll add in eventually anyway.
I'm really surprised they only tried to jump in the sandbox fad so late, though. People have been asking for a Lego sandbox game ever since Minecraft became popular. At least that's guaranteed not to be a massive flop like LU was, parents are more likely to spend 15$ on something that will probably spare them hundreds of dollars on actual Lego sets than pay 10$ of subscription every month.

yeah, that scene reminded me a lot of at the end of a pep rally at my high school blurred lines came on, and as everyone was leaving a hell of a lot of people were singing along to it, even people who thought it was too rapey of a song. It was strange to say the least.
