yea i mean it took 2 years to get to that point while both its competitor consoles reached double that number in half the time. 7 million sold units after 2 years is a joke. Thats like, gameboy micro or playstation go levels of failure.
The wiiu is a joke bro, theres a reason it was joked about in the video.
But Bayo 2 is on it
It's been 7 years since Episode 2, and 10 years since Half-Life 2. I think it is safe to assume the average Half-Life 2 fan is easily in their mid twenties by now, possibly even their early thirties. Old enough to easily be occupied by real life things, jobs, families, etc. In that 7 year gap, who became a new fan? Valve has done nothing with the series since 2007, who exactly is going to be going crazy over Half-Life 3?
Look at Duke Nukem Forever, that pile of shit took 10 years to come out and despite the fanfare sold a modest amount of copies, only breaking even after some time. Mostly because Duke Nukem became a punchline, not something anyone actually cared about playing. I genuinely think the hype, and reaction will greatly overshadow the actual game.
Short of Valve pulling the Jesus Christ of video games out of their asses I really don't think many people will care for a stand alone Half-Life game at $50-60. Unless they include Dota 2 and TF2 hats or a CSGO skin or whatever, since that seems to be the main gimmick of all Valve games these days.
are we seriously comparing this to duke nukem forever
because I'm pretty sure hl3 hasn't been outsourced to multiple studies by now multiple times and remade because of it hundreds of times over
[editline]13th December 2014[/editline]
what is it with people and comparing anything to DNF as if it holds a candle to valve in any way?

the wii u isn't exactly marketed for the same demographic as the xbox/ps4 so I don't know what the fuck your point is
[editline]13th December 2014[/editline]
in fact the same people the gamecube, and even the n64 were marketed towards, are the same people the wiiu is looking at
the only difference is we have such a harder audiance range
[editline]13th December 2014[/editline]
But Bayo 2 is on it
and smash
To be honest, Wii U is probably the only console that I might buy.
Only console that does something different then the other 2.
Is that the dance of that black guy with the chicken wings?
Was kinda familiar with the dance until you post reminded me,
I laughed so hard I nearly choked.
That duane animation was top notch
HL3 will be freemium and involve purchasable fakefactory skins
Team Fortress 2 was in development almost as long as DNF was and it has done amazingly well, also I'm not sure if Valve would ever release a $60 title
I wouldn't know, so I can only propose these questions:
Did people care about Team Fortress 2? As in, before it was announced, how often did you hear "oh, man, I can't wait for the next Team Fortress game!" Was it just a game that people heard about but didn't really pay attention to?
I'd also contribute the longevity of updates to it's success. If TF2 was released and then only minor updates to fix a few things and add a few tiny things, it wouldn't have done amazingly well.
Oh god the "Wii U exclusive" right at the last half second, so brilliant.

Finally, the ferns and tits I've been waiting for

Don't forget big ass bridges dlc for only 4.99
The gamecube was selling at roughly the same rate as the wiiu, but the wiiu has a much wider potential market and a vastly larger potential userbase. Theres a lot more people playing video games now than there were in 2001. 7 million after 2 years in 2001-2007 is good. 7 million after 2 years in 2012-2014 is pretty shitty.
So the Wii U is a joke because it caters to a smaller audience?
bitch you crazy
the wii u isn't exactly marketed for the same demographic as the xbox/ps4 so I don't know what the fuck your point is
thats the problem bud. The Wiiu is aimed at the wrong audience. It's aimed at a more casual audience but most casual gamers would rather just play on their iphone or android or on facebook. The "hurr smash" audience will only keep them afloat for so long.

I don't know how you actually believe they'd rather play on their iphone. if they'd rather play on their iphone, then clearly they have no real interesting in gaming.
because that's clearly the same thing. Right?
and because playing a wii u is totally the same thing. Right?
Casual games don't just include angry birds and farmville you know. just like "Hardcore games" don't just include dark souls, FPS's, and pong. That's completely silly.
Way to generalize the casual gaming audience though. I must thank you for that.
[editline]13th December 2014[/editline]
I mean like
casual gamers who'd rather play on their phone are totally different from the casuals who play indie/wiiu

Theoretically, you'd be right for pretty much any other game on the market. But you're talking about Half-Life here. Facepunch may be rather biased since it originated from an HL2 mod, but there are a huge amount of people who would gladly pay for it, not just for the nostalgic value, but because it's a VALVe game we're talking about here: all of their major titles are of incredible quality.
That's actually very very wrong. A huge bulk of employees from 04-07 still work there, hell the original writer for half-life is still there. The main issue with making the third installment what you brought up is primarily right though, but still off by a bit.
The big issue with making a half life game at this point is that they don't want to just make another game, y'know? They want to revolutionize and make something absolutely jaw dropping like they did with both HL1 and HL2, the episodes were dropped because while advancing the story, it wasn't primarily what valve really wanted to take the series to.
Have faith in Source 2 my friend, it's going to bring huge things to the table.
No, actually it's not wrong at all; there are rather few leads involved with HL2 at valve anymore. Secondly you're completely bullshitting on what their plans supposedly were, as they stated publicly pretty much the opposite of what you said.
