ArmA 3 is not an AAA game. Its a military simulator. Not as in "oh this is fun and it has simulation qualities" as in Bohemia actually sells simulators to governments (https://bisimulations.com/). There is no "similar title". ArmA is ArmA. Bohemia could charge double for just the base game and people would still buy it. As it is people already have put up with a game that has been horribly optimized over the past several titles.
It's not horribly optimized, maybe you just don't understand all that the game is truly processing at every given moment [editline]13th July 2016[/editline] And then realize that you're taking what's going on in the above video (trajectory, velocity, angle, penetration, etc) and multiplying it by like 100 due to players and AI
I tried playing it last night and gave up because the 20 FPS I'm getting is killing my eyes

I have a i5-4670k overclocked to 4.4GHz and a GTX 1080. The game uses 60% cpu and 30% gpu, and I am struggling to maintain 60fps on MEDIUM preset, with dips to the 50s. No excuse for this. SHIT optimization.

What's wrong is that Arma has bad multi-core support and is a 32-bit application. But that's what happens when your engine has remained unchanged save for graphics and animations since the late 90s when Operation Flashpoint was first in development. [editline]13th July 2016[/editline] It's also the only game in the world where lowering your settings decreases performance. RP didn't kill ArmA 3, but it did introduce a very cancerous community. If anything - there needs to be a moderate mix between roleplay and and millitary combat like DayZRP had done very well.
