Yeah I'm posting in a thread about a game I care about. Fuck me, right?

seriously you aren't helping your case at all
You guys wanna know whats in the middle of the galaxy in this game?
[sp]Nothing, it resets and sends you to a new galaxy for more of the same shit[/sp]
I love the idea of that except for the fact that its insanely stupid in the context of this game
do it how Bastion or Dark souls did it
this is just asinine like what????
[sp]I mean it's ok if you do it in a way that contextually makes sense. But Bastion and Souls both had something at the end and something very big. It hyped it around this grand discovery and grand goal. There was something there.
Hopefully it isn't literally nothing and I'm just making assumptions[/sp]

then again, I don't even give a damn about endings that much. The journey is more important. Dark souls is all about the journey, so are survival games, so was Bastion.
lmao this fucking bandwagon.
Well to be completely fair, it's a problem many people have with exploration-based/unending games. There's almost always at least some basic narrative going on, some sort of plot with objectives and the like, and players can crawl through it at any pace they like, exploring along the way, having fun just doing random stuff. But once it ends and the final objective is achieved - the interest just kinda disappears because for them exploring has to always feel like something they do while progressing in one way or the other. Once the progression stops - that's it.
I'm like that myself - I can't just... explore for the sake of it. I like doing stuff along the way to... something, anything really. So having this thing with 4 paths/stories does seem like a decent way to tackle this: once you've reached the final destination in your progression, you just start over but with slightly different progression curve, and it might just be enough. How many people will linger in their starting galaxy, even though they've only seen like 30% of what there is to see?
"Idk what a heightmap is but here's my 2 cents"
Ah yes, you caught me. Nevermind the fact that I'm writing my own shitty OpenGL renderer for a uni project. There is much more going on than just a heightmap no doubt. But that doesn't change the fact that the game looks and runs like shit.
Seems like the developers used an algorithm to generate planets and then called it a day.
Are you happy now? They still completely forgot to make a fun game out of it. :v:
I see Hybrid's going insane again.
Considering this game, it pretty much turned out to be what I expected it to be. Well, except for the technical difficulties. :v:
It was hyped to hell, but after several disappointments caused by hype, I didn't buy into it.
i know, i was hot headed.
That's no excuse.
That's no excuse.
it wasn't an excuse, it's meant to be apologetic.
