I'm not feeling the CGI, feels too fake with the real actors. It's coming out in 2016 so there's probably time to build hype but I'm feeling this could bomb pretty badly.
Hahahahaha, oh my god, is this real? Holy shit they look like something you'd get from a photoshop contest thread.
It's really strange too. The armor looks super CG, but they already showed that they have the actual armors as costumes, what did they do? But yeah, lots of time for polish still.
we already had that one animated movie.
Let us not speak of it.
we already had that one animated movie.
all records of it have been expunged due to ridiculous levels of Awful
I am ready
Still going to be a shitload better than Avatar purely because they have lore AND an epic world to work with. So fucking excited for this movie.
most of the time the CGI you see in a trailer isn't complete, it's shots that were given special attention to be sped up for the trailer but are still unfinished. ILM are some of the best in the industry, but the trailer isn't usually representative of what you'll see in the movie unless it's less than a month out from release
I hear a lot of people say this. How is it similar to the Hobbit? Because they both feature a similar creature (gryphons/giant eagles)?
I think they are mostly referring to the overzealous use of CGI, and bright, shiny, bloom-filled CGI at that. Granted, this is leagues better than Hobbit tier CGI.
I predict two sequels. Warcraft 2 and 3
Brilliant prediction. [editline]a[/editline] Except [sp]Medivh dies in this movie[/sp], and it's more likely WC2 will be divided into 2 movies, Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal. And that's only if this one does well enough to justify any sequels.
interestingly enough, that would most likely very effectively kill and stomp any chance of a Warhammer 40k movie being made in the foreseeable future not that Games Workshop would ever do anything like that with the license anyway though
No it wouldn't. There's no doubt in my mind if a Starcraft movie was made it wouldn't have the Space 'Nam+Aliens Fanfiction theming that the 1st one had and instead would have that stupid daytime television motif going on.
So Warcraft is the movie version of Warcraft I (Where Orcs invade Azeroth thanks to Gul'Dan and Medivh), which is also where we meet Durotan whose wife is preggo with Thrall and [sp]Both will probably be killed later in the movie so Thrall can be adopted by that cruel Alliance dude.[/sp] I predict two sequels. Warcraft II being the one where [sp]Medivh dies and Gul'Dan goes to the sunken island housing the heart of Sargeras lord of the Burning Legion and also dies.[/sp] And I imagine a 1-3 parter for Warcraft III since there was alot to cover from Warcraft III and it's expansion Frozen Throne. Warcraft III will be like what the game did, basically set up events for Vanilla WoW to start, also where we meet Adult Thrall.
I just hope it follows the actual Warcraft 1 plot rather than the retconned version from Warcraft 3 and onwards. but who am i kidding that's never gonna happen rest in piece Warcraft
I just hope it follows the actual Warcraft 1 plot rather than the retconned version from Warcraft 3 and onwards. but who am i kidding that's never gonna happen rest in piece Warcraft
WC1 barely had a plot until it was fleshed out in WC2 and later games though. Build 5 Farms and a Barracks. Fight the orcs. Go rescue Lothar. Go fight the corrupt humans. Go fight orcs again. Kill [sp]Medivh[/sp]. Destroy Blackrock. The end. Or if you're the Orcs Build 5 Farms and a Barracks. Fight the humans. Go rescue Garona. Overthrow [sp]Blackhand[/sp]. Go fight humans again. Destroy Stormwind. The end.

Meanwhile 40k is pretty dark and oppressive in comparison. A 40k movie would be guaranteed to have a R rating while Starcraft would get a PG13 at the very most.
its nearing 2016 and people are still into videogame movies
They still have potential you know
its nearing 2016 and people are still into videogame movies
Can't believe we choose to adapt books into movies in this day and age.
Trailers from movies with CGI are always incomplete.
and yet the later games still retcon the shit out of it Warcraft 2 was the apex of the series, imo
I don't remember them retconning anything, just expanding on what happened. But yeah, WC2. Back when there was an actual war going on, not just occasional conflicts here and there.

Why wouldn't you want to see rednecks in space blasting alien dogs. W40k would be more fitting for a TV Series, its more heavy on the plot than anything else.
I completely forgot that the movie existed for a moment and clicked the thread thinking it was a new RTS. Aww. Still neat though, found it cute how faithful the human buildings are.
Keep an eye on blizzcon this weekend, now would be a perfect time for them to announce HD remakes Oh hey, just like magic - http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/careers/posting.html?id=15000XZ

Still I'm never gonna stop laughing at how ridiculous that shot looks, even if unfinished :v: Someone just take that shot and put all kinds of photoshop shit in there. Still I'm somewhat right that II and III will be based on the game's sequels. Also I wonder who they'll get to play Arthas when the movie adaptation of III happens?
Interesting that they used music from 300: Rise of an Empire in this teaser.
This movie won't require lore knowledge from the WC or wow universe right? None of my friends play wow
This movie won't require lore knowledge from the WC or wow universe right? None of my friends play wow
Well, it sure wouldn't do well if the general audience didn't know what the hell was going on.
I hope they adapt the original music from WCI
Well, it sure wouldn't do well if the general audience didn't know what the hell was going on.
But then they only cater to those few people
Are we allowed to post leaks? I've got a russian potato camera of the full trailer.
Can't believe we choose to adapt books into movies in this day and age.
This movie is going to be a closer adaption of the books; Rise of the Horde, and Of Blood and Honor.
This movie won't require lore knowledge from the WC or wow universe right? None of my friends play wow
This is basically Warcraft I the movie, so it's where everything starts.
