Why is Adrian Shepard (an ex US Marine) wearing a hipster scarf?
Why is Adrian Shepard (an ex US Marine), able to do backflip leg-breaking?
Also, Fat asian guy has a Bieber haircut.
Asian dude looks like Freddie Wong only fatter
It wasn't really anymore spectacular than anything a big-budget Hollywood director could make.
A small-budget film's strength is innovation and story, whereas this film had neither.
Asian dude looks like Freddie Wong only fatter
all asian people look alike
OT
the lack of a real plot broke it for me
I highly dislike the ending. I doubt Shepard would just suicide like that, after all the events in the Black Mesa.
That isnt a katana.
Its more like a machete than a katana.
I think it's actually a tanto, but I'm not really sure.
Either way, this was a real fucking disappointment for me.
this is a couple of guys running around in some deserted whatever with a camera and jacking off in After Effects.
Thank you.
The things that bothered me were the fighting near the end. Adrian is a marine, it could have been more standard hand-to-hand combat without back flips and a sword. The zombies were also a bit strange decision, I understand HL2 zombies are hard to make in real life without looking silly, but replacing them with L4D ones isn't too great either. And them dying at the end, slightly unnecessary.
Anyway, even though it isn't perfect, I think they did a great job.
That was pretty amazing, well made too.
The fuck kind of ending was that.
The combine masks were the hardest thing to look at.
I mean what the fuck is this:
The movie effects were pretty darn good, however.
god fucking damn this is so cheesy
how can you even watch it, it's like those movies on the sci fi channel
Holy Shit! That was awesome.
The effects were nice, but it didn't feel like Half-Life at all. It felt like some sort of fan fiction filmed in an college "independent" style
Being a developer of the OpFor 2 mod I'm disgusted by how they added ninja moves to Shephard. I also hate how cheesy the combat looks, and what the hell is up with the zombies? The fat guy would have been the first to be left behind, or die in a combat situation. The voice actor for Shephard isn't the best either, he was a really pumped, big marine back in OP4, I always expected his voice to be deep and manly, but these guys made him a 18 year old. Instead of doing an intelligent piece of work, fidel to the saga, they just put as many special effects and horrid, cheesy and polluting CGI they could, making the movie a cluttered, un-realistic job. Then decided to take "artistic freedom" on it and saying that the movie "is not HL, HL2 or Opposing Force", while they're using a lot of the HL saga on it, that includes Overwatch, Shephard, rebels, medkits, Aperture, grenades, and so on. That is just an excuse for mistakes people are bound to point out, which pretty much take over the entire film. Call me a nitpicker for complaining so much about it, but I'm not picking on small stuff, their movie is really a rage-o-tron for Half-Life fans. If they wanted so much "artistic freedom" then they should've made their own plot, and not barf over a nicely done one. These guys will never reach how good Escape from City 17 is, which again, used a lower budget than that.
Overall, pretty entertaining for someone who doesn't know shit about Half-Life.

Which means it's way below mine, and most of this forum's standards.
It was so fucking awesome that I sat through the credits.
There were only 12 people on the team. Success.
This film is not HL,HL2 or Opposing Forces. It's a short fan film that takes place in the Half-Life world.
That isn't Shepard :frog:
That isn't Shepard :frog:
It is according to the movie :frog:
maybe they should have spent less money on katanas and martial-arts and 3d holograms and more on some headcrabs and sticking close to Half-Life.
[editline]22nd January 2011[/editline]
visual effects were good though
I liked it allot
cool special effects but nothing else
i mean i appreciate all the hard work they put into it, but they clearly put all their effort into editing and visual effects rather than creating a simple storyline and following their source material.
i mean seriously ninja fights?
He was the largest target, he must have been stealing food rations. But really all the resistant fighters looked way too clean cut, even the dead ones. I hate to knock the movie but it could of been way better.
Yeah, alot could have been made better. I did like the fact that the combines eyes turned red when they died. The ending was a piece of shit.
Well lets think of it this way the combine we see are directly from their World Not the ones we have now which use resources from earth
The thing is, it took 2 years. I was expecting at least a 30 minute movie, but they turned it into a shitty pile of shit. When I first heard about it being released, I was excited. I am now dissappointed. Very.
I liked it. they put a lot of effort into it on a small budget. it could have been better but hey, nothing is perfect and maybe they wanted to get more people into the half life world rather than just make it a by fans, for fans movie. maybe thats why it is so different in some respects. I was surprised and didn't like them myself but some people do like them.
I dislike the Super Moves and the wrong combine gas mask.Sorry but this shit matters to a fan.
You'd think they would know that it's called Opposing Force, rather than Forces. Also, Adrian Shepard is the main character? wat
I couldn't take it seriously because of that fat Asian. I mean, what the hell.
I don't care if people don't like the fancy fighting, I thought it was great entertainment.
Oh god that whole 1 on 1 fight scene could've been so awesome, it already had some great parts (The door kick and the pipe head smash move thing).
BUT THEN THERE'S A SWORD INVOLVED OH OKAY.
itt stuck up posters complaining that they took artistic freedom in their own film they paid for and spent time on
