It was ok. I think the gasmask they used to base the CP helmets are kind of hard to obtain. Then again, shouldn't be too much of a hassle to make something yourself.

Also I could probably spend a day pointing out everything that was just wrong or out of place with this film
They focused way too much on the incorrect things and way too little on the actually important things. I was also somewhat surprised by the amount of ridiculous inconsistencies and HL universe incompatible things that they managed to shove in a film with a 1200$ budget which was two years in the making, virtually all of those inconsistencies could have been prevented if they simply spent a day at the HL wiki and actually paid attention to some of the details.
They absolutely obviously spent most of their budget on the effects and on the "purdiness" while they could have instead focused on developing atleast remotely better costumes and props. The whole special effects centricity could not have been more blatant and obvious. I would have also preferred if the combined suits were less flashy but more true to the universe. Ordering a bunch of those soviet gasmasks, putting together basic truthful combine suits, and simply making them be as much in character as possible would have been more then enough.
They should have also focused on putting together a better story and made sure that atleast no blatant inconsistencies occurred in the whole thing. Frankly, the story style that they picked in general was way too flashy and unnecessary for an indie film. In videogame terms, it virtually felt as if they were trying to run Crysis on a Geforce 2. They wasted way too much time on Hollywoodish tricks and pointless segments. It would have been much more appropriate if they instead put together a possibly more passive, more down to earth, but a much more polished storyline.
I never understood why endless movies never understood the concept of "living in emergency conditions". In theory, the only thing that would separate the appearance of a rebel from a completely worn down hobo would be his suit, his equipment, and possibly a few other characterizing things. If I were to speak realistically, rebels usually spend 24/7 in horrifyingly bad conditions while having a very visible chance of being killed by something or someone virtually every second of their existence. I would atleast focus on roughing up their hair and atleast remotely making them look exhausted and or worn down, As opposed to focusing on making them have perfect haircuts all the time. Frankly, if I were to make a movie like this, I would literally make the rebel actors put their suits on, and make them thoroughly roll around in dirt for 20-30 minutes while also making various cuts/bullet holes in their suits, applying bruise/wound/scratch effects on their visible body parts, and generally making them look like as if they were just pulled out of Satan's asshole, because that would be realistic and actually according to their surviving conditions.
Some elements of the thing transparently showed and demonstrated their special effects obsession even further. They did not only have inconsistencies that would have been already blatant by themselves, but they actually made them stick out even further by developing them and making them virtually the main points of the movie.
Overall for an indie movie that was in the making for two years, their knoweledge of the story was simply nightmarishly and petrifyingly bad. I could have probably learned the HL universe on an atleast above average level in a few days without knowing anything about it beforehand. The makers of the movie probably did not even play the games.
It had things from HL2, it wasn't suppose to be all around the uni of HL2, headcrabless zombies were neat to say the least, looked like fast zombies to me. I do like the concept and I'd want them to make another one, following up this one.
Your name seems to fit.
This thread reminded me of Black Mesa Source and how much of a failure it was. At least duke nukem has some company in the mythical games circle.

I stopped giving a crap about it myself, it comes out whenever it comes out, if it comes out.
Film was interesting but just to agree with what has already been said, story was terrible and was difficult to derive any meaning from the events that were happening.
"2 years in the making"
I think they meant 2 Valve years. Which is like a month in normal time I think. Or does it really take 2 years of freetime to do aprox. 8 minutes of CGI/editing.
All negativity aside, it was a cool film and had some great effects (the fight scene was entertaining as well, however out of place it may have been). The combine also need to seem more powerful; this is a film not the video game.

I just had a read of their forums and, I gotta say, the pointless optimism there is hilarious. People making excuses and shit for the developer's "taking it slow". They want it to exist so they pretend its real I guess. Sound familiar?

Sound familiar?
I was actually anticipating the mod myself for a while, it is just that there is a fine limit between understandable optimism and blind optimism. Anticipating and being optimistic toward the whole thing just no longer makes sense, even to someone who is enthusiastic towards the HL universe like me. I did not start to hate the mod or anything, I just put it on the back shelf in terms of anticipation, unfortunately the same being with EP3. I wonder what reactions FP is going to get if Black Mesa: Source comes out before EP3, it would probably amplify the reactions from Duke Nuken: Forever doing so, unless we receive a sudden surprise very soon, which is unlikely.

I liked the movie, everything apart from the kung fu scene and the ending was just great.
It should have ended when he saved the girl, because that was awesome
The fat guy wasn't listening to Shepard during the watch scene.
