Here's a quote from one of the brothers who put together this gift for their sister:
Well, she plays club soccer, so she's pretty busy quite a bit of the time and doesn't really have weekends free to work and make money. Because of this she doesn't have any disposable income to buy things like computer parts, so she only had a pretty cruddy laptop that's essentially for school use, since it's nowhere near powerful enough to run a game anyway. She's been noticeably interested in gaming for the past few years, but didn't really have anything to play on, aside from games we invite her to play on our PC's with us (Nintendo emulators, Injustice/Mortal Kombat, mostly controller based stuff). She's pretty fed up with her laptop 100% of the time, with it being archaic and such, so she doesn't have much to sit down and relax with apart from Netflix or TV. We figured that building her a desktop would provide many avenues of entertainment for her, be it gaming, Netflix, and Skype with her friends, or a personal space for her to chill out at, listen to music and do homework. She's been working really hard for a really long time to keep her grades up (straight A's!) and balancing her rigorous club and high-school soccer schedules. With this desktop she'll have something that's hers that she can come home to and just mellow out with, and she's been visibly enamored with it!
Sure it's awkward, but honestly if I was in her position then I would be pretty excited as well. Also, specs:
OS: Windows 8.1 Processor: AMD X4 970 Graphics: 2x AMD 6870 Memory: 8GB DDR3 Storage: 60GB SSD 1.5TB HDD

I dont see how this is weird at all? A bunch of older brothers getting a sister who I presume likes video games the holy grail of an introduction to pc gaming. It's as if people saying this is weird are devoid of understanding family compassion and relations.
its not weird, it's just that the brothers had piss poor execution and based the whole presentation off of a really stupid meme that's only spewed by 12 year olds at this point. The whole setting up a family member with a cool rig thing is legit. Calling people out for being "Devoid of understanding family compassion and relations" is retarded though, because plenty of people here understand that shit and still find this stupid, because we basically watched children freak out over "PC GAMING MASTUR RACE SO EPIC" for 4 minutes.
o no not to say that girls can't be nerds too, but even me in that situation would be cringing, i did a similar thing for my lil bro but without all the nearing meme-tier gaben pc master race bullshit, and it was actually a really cool moment and he plays PC alongside his playstation now, and I did it without making myself look like a dum dum hopefully she likes the gift though, presentation aside. their hearts were in the right place, just poor execution.
yeh the gift would've had just as much impact if they excluded the "pc master race" dribble. the execution wasn't really too poor though considering how emotional she got
why isnt she wearing pants around her family?
I don't wear pants and I live with people I've only known for sex months

Also, specs:
They got a pretty nice setup going on there, glad they decided when they said "ok were going multi gpus" they went with AMD, SLI is poo poo tier efficiency wise. also a good purchase to go for the 60 gig SSD for prolly Windows + some essentials. Like I said, their hearts are obviously in the right place and the overall situation is killer, but the execution was cringeworthy
Wow, thats some love right there.
yeh the gift would've had just as much impact if they excluded the "pc master race" dribble. the execution wasn't really too poor though considering how emotional she got
Oh yeah I meant more in terms of being an outsider looking in, she's obviously at least decently into video games seeing that post the video maker made, so she's probably hella hyped. then again i keep forgetting it's a private video so it wasn't made for others to see how did op even fucking get this then

The only people that seem to care about that is cynical internet people.
why isnt she wearing pants around her family?
Are you saying you wear pants around your family? How prude.
why isnt she wearing pants around her family?
Cus its her family.
That's a pretty awesome present. Several hundred in games (admittedly from Humble Bundles) and a PC with about $600 in hardware plus the monitor.
why isnt she wearing pants around her family?
its her family and it's christmas morning wtf
Also she got a Sidewinder keyboard, that's worth about $50 and I can't tell what her mouse is. That's awesome.
why isnt she wearing pants around her family?
i walk around w/o pants around my friends, let alone my family many people are cool with doing that shit around people they're comfortable with
why isnt she wearing pants around her family?
I assume you're an only child. Have you ever been to a girl's house that has been comfortable enough to be wearing short shorts around you?
Also she got a Sidewinder keyboard, that's worth about $50 and I can't tell what her mouse is. That's awesome.
Shame they didn't go the extra mile and get her a Blackwidow or anything like that, if they really wanted to hit it out of the part a nice mechanical would have sold me on this. Still a fantastic gift, I've never used a sidewinder but for the most part even cheapo Microsoft Wave keyboards work surprisingly well
why isnt she wearing pants around her family?
Because it's one of those awkward dreams where you realize you don't have any pants on while standing infront of a crowd.
I wish someone gave me head for christmas. lucky!
Why is she crying? I don't even.

If you're going to go that far in, go all the way. I picked this up for $80 and I couldn't be happier.
Why is she crying? I don't even.
Getting a large gift that had a lot of thought put into it can be pretty overwhelming.

If only these young men had the same sense of humor and knowledge upon the proper usage of internet memes as No Party Hats here, maybe their gift might have meant something. [editline]7th September 2014[/editline] Also I have that mouse pad. Merica.

I should have ordered one of those key testing kits but I couldn't find any. I really want browns. Seriously though, the K70 is amazing. You can get the K90 which has macro keys but I never use macros. The keys are raised so it's extremely easy to clean and the frame is brushed aluminum so it feels really, really premium and durable.
she's probably hella confused and a little weirded out i mean i consider myself a kind of power user when it comes to pc but these dudes are literally like children who just picked up on the way overused "praise gaben pc gaming master race xD" joke
if somebody got me a free computer and did gaben jokes i'd never talk to them for the rest of my life
I did this for my stepbrother last christmas. The presentation was basically "Hey man, I built you this computer" and I brought it out for him all wrapped up and he was like "oh sweet" and then I got it all set up for him and he pretty much only plays Dota now. I wanted to bro op with him ;_;
He'll get around eventually. Maybe.
I was also totally uneducated on mechanical switches before I bought my keyboard. I picked up this Blackwidow Ultimate for a little under a hundred. What type of switches do I have?
No HL2? wat
