As shit as Elite is, that grenade joke made me laugh
This is so wrong.
It's meant to be stupid. It's not meant to make you go 'Man, I want to play Call of Duty because its bad ass'; This video is clearly aimed at people who have played Call of Duty before and get the jist of how everything in Call of Duty works.
I want to believe that. But normally when something is meant to not be taken seriously, there is some kind of humor to it. Self-conscious jokes, things that give out the fact that it's aware of it's own absurdity. There are no such things here.
wow what the fuck
I'm not going to be interested in Elite in the slightest until the "tournaments" they mention have prizes that are more than unlocking a stupid image of a medal on a website nobody even cares about.
Moo! Moo! Milking Cashware 1.5
I'm not going to be interested in Elite in the slightest until the "tournaments" they mention have prizes that are more than unlocking a stupid image of a medal on a website nobody even cares about.
Well what would you like. Hats?
How did he get inside the game??? He must be magic???
*gasp* He used noob in the commercial, and like, there's heat maps omgee gonna b so elite Ha ha no. This is blatant extorting. Think about it. If a map pack comes out every 4 months with a 15$ price tag, it's only 45 for those 3 packs. You save 5$. furthermore, you're not trying to pretend you're some kind of super badass by buying weapons. It's essentially adding a small bit of pay to win with those heatmaps and whatnot. No thank you CoD. I'll go play tf2.

I almost thought this was serious, But then jets of flame shot out of the floor.
I almost thought this was serious, But then jets of flame shot out of the floor.
oh no its serious
CoD is a fucking arcade shooter, 80's action movie "big explosions and one liners" type game. It has mass appeal because it's easy pick up and play. Games don't need to have convoluted sub-plots or be genre defining to be enjoyable. If people want to drop $60 on a 'new' CoD game every year, that's their business.
Problem from my point of view is that now other games have to compete with that, and they have to lower their standards and act more like that to survive. Example: BF3. BC2 made fun of it, but then BF3 came out and they have alot of the same problems that CoD has, because they have to attract that audience. It's an issue for the FPS genre in general. That's the worry in my mind.
The target audience is obviously early teens.
I feel that ad might as well have been featured in this movie. The stupid in the ad just hurts.
For those saying that CoD was never meant to be realistic, take a look at CoD 1, CoD 2 and CoD 3.
They weren't even remotely realistic.
Those weren't really realistic either.
Really? He named his fucking capitalist plastic poop rifle Natasha? What a disgrace. Also, all of this shit was free with Halo 3 and Reach. Another reason why I love the shit out of Bungie.
While some of the features of Elite sound really useful (like that heat maps thing, good for avoiding high traffic area's on maps), it's fucking ridiculously over-priced.
"Camping is for noobs and hippies" THEN WHY THE FUCK DID YOU BUILD YOUR GAME AROUND IT. Unless they remake COD in gm_flatgrass, every single map will have at least one designated camping spot. Why is that?
While some of the features of Elite sound really useful (like that heat maps thing, good for avoiding high traffic area's on maps), it's fucking ridiculously over-priced.
Does anyone actually give a shit about heatmaps? How about just playing? Oh right, I am too noob to understand the pr0 el1te kids.
CoD1 tried to be pretty realistic CoD2? nah CoD3? fuck no. after that, only CoD4 hardcore even smelt of realism. In the loosest sense.
420 broscopes erry day.
As shit as Elite is, that grenade joke made me laugh
In the end, when they listed what rhymes with elite, the part about making your parents dissapointed and breaking up with fiancé was hilarious :v:

The stupid in the ad just hurts.
the funny thing is add a little more nut kicking, slightly bigger guns and bigger explosions and it would just fit too perfectly
You know what? The more Activision extorts their customers, the faster this fad dies. So yeah, keep it up.
CoD is the cancer of gaming
People who call games the cancer of gaming are the cancer of gaming.
People who call games the cancer of gaming are the cancer of gaming.
Except no, MW3 is the biggest joke to the entire industry on the planet - it's literally MW2 with some tacked on models and multiplayer maps - it's an overpriced map pack charging $50 a year for more shit map packs and 'statistics' that most good games have - Halo 3/Reach for example - both have heatmap/stat tracking systems, DLC is still charged for, but that's a Microsoft thing, but even so - the DLC is still the bog standard 800MS points instead of 1200 EVERY time. Not only that - but they're not just ported maps with literally zero effort put in (Seriously I could probably port MW2 maps to MW3 given the ability to). When your DLC starts to cost more than 1/3 of the game something is terribly wrong and when you're charging 5/6th of the game's sale price for less than 1/4 of the games content something is even more wrong. Don't get all high and mighty by trying to defend the biggest scum on the 'gaming' planet.

I just think people who pick a game that call it the cancer of gaming are the cancer of gaming: self-hating "gamers" who want to divide the culture based on opinions about a popular brown man-shooter.
