uh I never defended CoD I don't even play the games lol.
I just think people who pick a game that call it the cancer of gaming are the cancer of gaming: self-hating "gamers" who want to divide the culture based on opinions about a popular brown man-shooter.
I think it's a valid claim. I understand that people have their own opinions of what's good, but a game like CoD affects everybody because it's popularity is causing trends across gaming in general (that a lot of people don't like)

Ok. You can not like CoD. I don't personally like CoD. But I don't call it the cancer of gaming. Because that's silly.

Did you read his post?
There's a lot of negative trends that have spawned from CoD's undeserved popularity. I don't have a problem with people that legitimately like it's gameplay, but don't tell me there hasn't been any collateral damage. In fact, here's a few stupid trends that CoD started:
Bloody screens
return to the battlefield!
emphasis of "spectacle" over gameplay
"realism"
emphasis on multiplayer over creating an engaging singleplayer experience
and much, much more.
Seriously, take one look at Crysis 2 and tell me CoD hasn't had a negative effect on the gaming industry.

The worst trend CoD has made, if you ask me, is the progression-based multiplayer system. All it does is artificially prolong the lifetime of the game, and alienates new players ("I have to be level 45 to get that gun?! goddamn it I'm so weak with my plinky level 3 rifle" etc).
So for the average 360 UK gamer if they wish to also have CoD Elite as well as Gold live, this comes to roughly £80 a year?
Bahhaahahahahahahahahaha
I get to play my steam games whenever I want for free and I get awesome sales, you guys really were right about the PC being the master race.

Also, if you think paying for DLC is a problem, Valve added hundreds of items and loads of maps to TF2 for free. In fact the game it's self is free. CoD? Yeah, let's just make customers pay £40 every year for the same damn game with another awfully written storyline.
My cousin had MW3 for christmas (2011), and I thought I'd give it a shot, from what I remember of it, it's exactly the same game, just with different maps.
I even recognised some of the weapon models from MW2, I understand it carries from the sequel, but at least at some graphical improvements.

I really don't have a problem with that as long as the default gun is just as balanced as the ones you have to unlock. Perks and stuff make it unbalanced though.
"Dead Meat?"
Yeah, I think that sums up Elite pretty well.
The "noob vs. vet" ad was pretty good actually

that elite one was just shit though.
Activision treats video games like a business food product instead of a work of art. No wonder the games are so GENERIC nowadays

You're not old enough to remember the better ones.

What are you on about. All those things were in games prior. CoD was just popular. Are we punishing success now? It's the cancer of gaming because it's popular?

Father of the FPS genre lays it out better than I ever could.
How about instead of being mad at CoD devs, take it out on the folks trying to make a quick buck on a failed CoD clone, and not the company that brings more gamers into the community since The Sims.
I know a lot of people who won't even try other great games like Mass Effect, Skyrim, Bioshock, Hitman or Metal Gear Solid for the pure fact that it "Isn't call of duty"
Those gaymes r 4 scrubs. dey dont even have killstreaks

I know people who don't try Call of Duty because it's not Skyrim, Mass Effect, or Bioshock.
It's called people having different tastes than you. Deal with it. Stop blaming the company and blame your friends who don't want to play games with you, or get better friends.

I've played all of the cods and can safely say that since CoD 4 everything infinity ward has made has pretty much been CoD 4 with more balance issues. Treyarch at least try new things like the zombies mode in CoD WaW
They don't know their target audience at all.

1000th post.
but MW3 is the official stoner game!
And anyone who says CoD is bad because it is not realistic can go elsewhere because CoD never pretended to be realistic
Why are people disagreeing with this post? If you really think this game ever claimed to be realistic, then you are just pulling facts out of your hairy ass.

Probably meant realistic in form of actual realistic scenarios. Like trench clearing and actual battles in WWII, not high speed chases through a subway after Russians while dual wielding M60s or some shit after launching nukes.

Uhhh bullshit, you've defended MW TONS of damn times.

and if they did, they did it with a closed, narrow minded point of view.
but MW3 is the official stoner game!
No, it's not. I'm a stoner and I hate MW3. I prefer Dark Souls.
The video is pretty stupid, elite just doesn't seem worth it even if I did play MW3.
Some of the video was genuinely funny.
still dumb
agree, silenced pistol sounds effect with an obviously unsilenced pistol
VIDEO IS HORRIBLE
I enjoyed MW2 but MW3 got boring after less than 10 hours.
Oh god guys I just had a thought
what if next MW they make "Super elite" with is basically elite but only you get gold guns, and additional attachments, kill streaks and perks for 70$?
[editline]29th January 2012[/editline]
OH GOD
"Super duper elite" for 100$
[editline]29th January 2012[/editline]
I can see it happening
These actors have never played a single video game.
